A total of 88 horses have died in the Grand National since the race was first run in 1839.
Of these 88 deaths, 16 have come since the year 2000, with several of these taking place in the last few years. No doubt Paddy will come back with the nonsense that horses would be extinct if not for racing!

I agree. Although I wonder how many insects were killed while building Craven Cottage, your house or are slammed into by your car while driving to London from the black forest. Insects are just smaller beings than horses. In fact I am just strangling my goldfish right now because I did not like your post.

MST, you talk a load of rubbish at times. I have been involved in horse racing, for the most of my life, and I actually had a relative who was a top jockey, who loved all of his horses in his stable. Unfortunately there are accidents, but considering how many races there are there are each year, the fatalities are very rare. I presume MST, that you are a vegetarian, as cows, pigs, and sheep don't have the luxury life that a horse has, before they are slaughtered for you to eat. No doubt you will be supporting the Greens, as their nut case of a leader Zak, also wants to scrap horse racing as well. Birds of a feather then ! !

100 per cent, agree with both the magicman and, and Craven, especially as I backed the winner of the Grand National today. Horse racing is a great sport, and today's race, is the envy of the world, apart from MST.

Sorry Craven, I don't know why I included you, instead of AC. Hopefully Craven is on our side.

Whipping a horse is great sport you say ? Total BS !

Ian, those whips, hardly hurt a horse, as they are hollow, and they are for encouraging and guiding a horse only. Even although they are pretty painless, the jockey club, are on a jockey, like a ton of bricks, if he appears over excessive with the whip. Have you ever seen a horse marked with a whip. No of course you haven't.

If Starmer comes in on the question of banning horse racing, it will get him brownie points, along with the few points he has gotten for not getting involved with the war. Agree Trump should not have started it but Starmer is still a weak Prime Minister who has done very little in negotiating with psychopaths who are holding innocent British couple hostage and murder lots of their own who don't agree with the regime. Starmer has stopped our Navy men from seizing illegal Russian oil ships because of some legal discrepancies in his tiny lawyer mind. They are laughing at us! I would rather have a Boris right now in charge rather than this lot. Millibands ' acres of solar panels cannot light up england alone and we will be needing gas and oil for a long while yet. How will we get rid of burnt out solar panels after so many years which are made up of plastic and other not-so-biodegradable components?

People in leather shoes, wearing woollen jumpers, sitting on leather sofas, eating steaks, drinking wine complaining about animal cruelty without a hint of irony. Or maybe they’re just stupidity.
