The rules on asylum are that you take refuge in the first safe country in which you arrive but these people are travelling through several “safe” countries in order to get here because those countries have passed laws that prevent asylum seekers from receiving any kind of aid. Take away the aid and you have a real deterrent but that will never happen in this country because we are an empathetic nation.

Was begun under Wilson but accelerated under her and every subsequent government. We need to get drilling and digging, then start making things or we’re lost. In fact I already think we probably are doomed but what’s the alternative? It’s either Rodney the Plonker making himself look like a prat or Bad Enoch, daughter of the NHS tourist. Reform aren’t perfect by any means but what else is there?

Having opinions and prepared to be challenged and debated is healthy and this is how humanity have evolved in the last 100 years since the birth of democracy. The issue now if we have people deliberately making false claims and lie through their teeth, with enough audience through social media, knowing more people will believe than not, they say what they want. While I applaud the peace in Israel and Gaza, you heard how lies were made and propaganda were made. But knowing the coverage, there will be more people believe in everything said than not. Until social media is regulated (like banking), which will never happen because it would take US to hammer their own companies, it will only get worse and worse. Humans will turn into robots while robots will take over.

Led by the despicable Scarsgill, funded by Moscow and drawing his full Union salary, whist the miners got a pittance strike money. In addition, his accumulated wealth was unexplained. In addition, when William Penny was developing the atom bomb for Britain, Clem Attlee, probably Labour’s greatest Post WW2 PM, only kept only a few of his colleagues informed as he later said if he had informed the Cabinet then Moscow would have known within the hour. Churchill and Attlee had great respect for each other and Attlee gave Churchill his unwavering support in the War Cabinet. After the War Labour won an overwhelming victory in the General Election and set about implementing considerable changes to improve then prospects or the working class. The introduction of the wonderful NHS system which treated everyone and become the envy of the World and for all its faults today is still providing help for the majority. The move towards state ownership of essential industries which was an excellent moved but subsequently ruined by the rise of Marxist led unions. As an aside, Churchill wandered in to the Gentleman’s toilet and saw Attlee standing at the first urinal and quickly moved to the far end. When Attlee queered why he was standing so far away, Churchill replied “ well Clem if you see anything big you nationalise it”.

Nobody will tackle Haaland? Haaland is a monster and i say that in a nice way on his side. Trust me' the worry is all on Man City and Pep Guardiola and we might as well add on the insurance policy around Haarland. First of all to tackle Haarland you first have to catch him and Haarland is a phenomenal athlete. Have you seen him running? One on one running at full pelt even the likes of Robinson who is quick will find it difficult to stop him. Bassey is bulkier and Haarland running full pelt at him would likely cause an injury to Haarland and thats where the insurance kicks in and the worry of Haarland injured for 6 weeks plus. Is Haarland worth half a mill a week? My answer is yes!!! Haarland is a superb athlete and yes' a freak of nature, he is Goliath but he isn't immortal he is human and he can be stopped once in a while and even Haarland gets injured.

The key thing to remember is that the 25% tax free cash thing was purely to drive thr economy. Most of being used to put down deposit on children's first house purchase. Take away the 25% element and we are likely to see a house price crash of monumemtal scale, as there will be a sharp depletion of first time buyers who are critical to the house buying chain. We are in for a terrible time with these clowns in power (even though as one poster mentioned recently,Sir Keir was into Abba, Motorhead, Simon and Garfunkle, thr Clash and Orange Juice during his time at Leeds Uni). Not sure what Reeves was into.

They obviously do not want to scupper the trade deals with China and India because these deals are the very few deals they think will reap dividends for our failing economy. The big problem we know is that China and India are more in favour of Putin and Russia and Starmer does not have the guts or the desire to challenge these two countries. As you know we are at the mercy of the Chinese who know that we need more from them than they need from us and they couldn't care less. We are beholden to China especially and our security is at risk through the incompetent Starmer who has turned a blinkered eye and put Britain at risk. India also has us over a barrel while they keep on buying oil from Russia which is another slap in the face. Brown-nosing and sucking up seems to be the way how you get ahead in the worls now more than ever and Starmer is the biggest of the suckers. He is rightly called flip flop . His wife is Jewish which says everything about Starmer and his odd way of showing allegiance. If war breaks out in this country we might as well raise the white flag and give it away. Goodness knows, we are giving up and giving away everything British for the sake of woke values and woke people everywhere in our culture now and establishment. I stated that i am not a fan of Trump but maybe the big stick methods work? 6 Million unemployed they say, can they and will they get tough on illnesses ranging from mental from covid and various excuses for joblessness? This is one area to raise big money and the answer is don't give out any until a dole interview is called for and the jobless can come in and explain why they can't take a job etc. Starmer and Reeves would rather pick on pensioners etc than the workshy...

My wife and I retired early and lived off my lump sum for a couple of years and now draw down from my crystallised funds. Problem is, if you have saved enough to have a good personal pension, you end up with a K tax code and they add fictitious sums of money to your annual amount and then tax the lot at 40%. When the state pension went up last year I ended up £300 per month worse off!!

Provided you are retiring before the budget and have a pension pot then you are entitled to take 25%, tax free. Most sensible people will do so as there is a strong possibility this could be reduced in the budget. In the unlikelihood you have retired and failed to take this then I recommend you contact your pension provider and seek their advice. Moving off at a tangent isn’t ironic that the Party of the working class has reigned over the highest level of taxation in post war Britain to the best of my knowledge. If you are not part of the elite, mainly the Public Sector, you have been well and truly shafted. Entrepreneurs, quite a few of the very rich people have departed to friendlier tax countries whilst the number the number of people on benefits and the substantial number not prepared to work is forever increasing. Illegal immigrants flock to our shores knowing they will be housed, fed and given money. Whilst I have sympathy for genuine refugees who have been persecuted in their own countries this is not the case of the majority. As Paddy has reminded us, gold continues to soar to record levels. In 1999, Gordon Brown ordered the Bank of England to sell half of Britain’s gold reserves when the price of gold stood at US$282.40 per ounce. Before the gold auction took place, gold traders shorted gold which resulted in the price falling to $252.80 providing traders to make a decent turn. Over the course of 17 auctions an average price of $375 was achieved raising £3 bln. If the gold had been retained its value would be approximately £40 bln. What is it about Labour Chancellors, especially remembering Dennis Healy was waiting to board a plane for an IMF meeting when he was informed that the £ was plunging necessitating him to return to the Treasury. It was described as the “Day Britain went Bust” Those of you old enough to remember 1976 will recall it was mainly George Soros betting against the Pound and other speculators jumping on the band wagon forced Healey to hastily arrange a record $3.9 bln loan to steady the free fall of the once mighty currency. As an aside, the “Black Economy” in Britain is estimated around £50 bln per annum which could fill many of Rachel’s “Black Hples”.

This is a decent post and it is a great honour to participate and contribute to it. MST' my state pension age is 67 and my official date is 2028. I am toying with the idea to retire early in 2026 and likewise if i do that i also will need to live off my lump sum for two years. Not sure about the maths my end but i think it shouldn't be too bad as i work for my local council. My council pension is just a modest one but i can live with that okay.

Rachel is desperately seeking money and reducing the tax free amount that you can take from your Pension Pot I could be cut to 15% leaving you struggling to enjoy a few years living on it before relying on you pension. Are you aware what percentage of Council Tax goes to fund Council workers pension. Astronomical, no wonder so many councils are going bust.

You are still correct though and a few things could change in November and Reeves could start meddling again. I think she is aware that she isn't high up on anyone's Xmas card list, especially pensioners and another move in that direction will not be popular. Saying that, any lump sum over two hundred grand is at risk of being taxed with savings isas ect ect. We are at their mercy and can only hope the cuts are not too deep.

The Conservatives are clearly the outright leaders and winners of elections for over more than a century. They are in disarray right now and appear untrustworthy for good reasons but they will re-group and get it together again soon i hope because this Labour lot with Keir Starmer are hopeless. They have one of the most inexperienced team ever assembled and they are failing. Bridget Phillipson, the Education Secretary doesn't have a clue and decent private schools are going into oblivion. I think her only claim to success is free breakfast clubs but in truth breakfast clubs have been around for years and this is Labour's problem, they don't have many wins and successes to shout about. The deal with the Chinese was always going to blow up in their faces because the Chinese and India are too close to Putin more so than America so any trade deal and success they shout about will most likely fall flat because of Trump. Not saying the Conservatives would have fared better but the record shows they might have done. I will not knock the system of high education because my son did okay at Brunel and has a successful career in the police force and my daughter who we found out late who is dyslexic also did well at Manchester university and she has a great job in nursing. It wasn't easy for both but they stuck at it. Would like to say Boris and his bikes and police recruitment Brunel help was a big influence. If i was a betting man my money would be on the Conservatives to get it right again and they will eventually.

I agree Sessegnon could be player of the season when you weigh up the plusses in his favour. He is strong in defence, and i haven't noticed many standout mistakes from him at left back. Castagne obviously struggles with the more pacey and tricky players. Sess pops up with the odd goal also and you have to think about this logically? How often has Robinson burst upfield and then find himself in the right area at the right time to score a goal? Sessegnon does that and he can easily come up with assists in his repertoire; you can't buy or teach this. I would still like Robbo back at left back because we know that Sessegnon is useful and effective in other areas pf the pitch.

Firstly the Greek Chairman thinks he is a manager and he interferes in managerial business he knows nothing about and secondly, i think Marco would struggle with a bigger squad of players to choose from. I also have my concerns about him and our squad selection lately with a few experienced pros sitting it out on the bench. Not trying to put a downer on him but two 3-1 defeats and two tough matches coming up Arsenal and Newcastle which might be four defeats then Wolves Everton and Sunderland Ange is on six or seven losses which is close to the sack. Football can change in the blink of an eye and results matter. I don't think Marco has got his selection right or his tactics and formation without Muniz and Jimenez which is an eye-opener and a raised eyebrow to me. It could come right and my belief in him would be restored. I just wonder if the absence of Boa Morte is a factor? People have commented on it.

He should also play for the whole game, and not be subbed before the 90 minutes is up. On Friday against Bournemouth we had to play through atrocious weather, which was so against us. I know that Bournemouth had the same weather, but they were at home, and that did make a difference. After this weekends results, we are beginning to slip slowly but surely down the table, but we are still a few points from the bottom, and I'm confident that at no stage of the season will we slip into the bottom 3, but to beat last seasons points total, is going to be very hard, especially with our run of injuries, to our main strikers, and the bad luck with decisions so far this season, which can be deflating.

Castagne is just not good enough and he was always vulnerable to anyone quick down the right side. Easy-peasy everyone can see it except Marco Silva. I sung his praises often on here but my concern with him is his volatile antics in the dugout. Players such as Wilson against Villa get sucked into the protest too much or i should say too long and we lose the game. Doubling up sometimes on a fast winger is a good idea and the Cambridge manager demonstrated that. It doesn't mean you win the game but it could help in a situation. Smith Rowe is better further up behind the striker as he demonstrated brilliantly against Cambridge. Something to say about Josh King? Everybody likes a tryer and keep on with it but we need goals and goals assists or if no goals assists will do. These are the stats that count for everything on the pitch.

We are a fair to middleing Premier League side, who in my life lifetime, will not win the title, but we will still have some enjoyable games to watch. I get really irritated by some of our so called fans running down Marco and Leno on a number of occasions, but be very careful what you wish for. I think Marco is a top class coach, and one of the best we have ever had, and Leno, one of our best ever keepers, who often just keeps the score down. Even yesterday, he made two superb saves. We would envy any other club if they had them, and we didn't, so be very grateful that they are with us.

Can any other club of our standing, in other words a mid table sid, be able to manage to hold their own when they lose four of their senior players, as we have with Tete(so important)Muniz and Rual(our only real strikers)Robinson(probably the best left back in the Premier League)and now Lucic on top of those. plus we will be losing other players to International football, in the New Year. Even with all of this against us, hopefully we will still finish in the top 10, although we will struggle a bit until we are back to a fully fit squad.

A top striker would cost us about 4 times what we could afford. The chance of getting a Mitro cheap again is remote as every player has huge information about them that every club in World can see. We are the best League which is both good and bad, it attracts top players, but at very high prices. Macro must believe Muniz is going to become a top striker, I hope he is right and I trust his judgement, but we need to see the results happening quickly.

How can you blame Smith Rowe for our mess and to label him an immovable object is a touch disrespectful. His goal record is not bad considering his pitch time. We know and accept Jimenez and his limitations and Muniz is a work in progress. Others have to bring something to the plate also and if we are scrutinising midfielders and goal records they also need to step up. In your defence i will say that pound for pound maybe Sessegnon will score more than Smith Rowe and if he does, that is value for money considering Sess was on a free transfer. You have to look at time on the pitch in my opinion...

We probably played as well a we could last night, but our style is not suited to play without a real striker. It will not help the youngster if he thinks the manager has no faith in him, just give him a chance Marco might might be surprised as his hight in the box will worry any defence and might create space for others. I know Marco knows a lot more about his players than I do, but I do know that sometimes youngsters can give you an unexpected wonderful surprise.

The down side of playing him is that he does nothing and brings nothing beneficial to the team and good night Vienna we put him back in the reserves. This is a critical moment in Fulham history where we have no strikers for for few games, take a punt DMK' sometimes in life you just say have a go and you know something? Jonah might have even pulled it off and raised the roof with a goal. I can name you half a dozen managers in football history who have gambled on 16-17 year olds...

Our answer was to remove a defender and put on a midfielder who has struggled since he came to us. One way to defend is to hoof the ball to a young fast kid, so we took him off to play someone new to us still trying to find his feet. My opinion is that we threw it away, we should have parked the bus with King waiting for a hoof to run with. But then who am I.

One of the strikers has not played yet even when we do not have a fit striker. Chukwueze looks a decent player, we will not know if Keven is a good player until he start a few games. A cup game and a few sub appearance is not enough to judge how good a players is. Are all the 11 Fulham players who kept giving mall away for the first 20 minutes tonight all useless as well. Too right off the manager after two away losses seems a little stupid as well.
posted by The Time Is Now - Friday 03rd October 2025, 9:52 PM I seem to be a voice in the wilderness, and I thought that after the first 20 minutes or so, we just couldn't get it together, but after that it was a different ball game, and I honestly thought that we played really well, considering our injury problems. I thought that TC, was excellent, and nobody in the defence had a bad game, and even when we took the lead with an excellent goal, because of our record against Bournemouth, I had a horrible feeling that we would only get a point, but I really couldn't see us losing this one. We are having a bad run of luck, and after the next two games, which will probably be losses, we will find ourselves near the bottom, which will B e a bit worrying, but we will then turn the corner, and move up the table. We can forget a European place this season, but we must have a real go in the cup competitions, to give us a lot of interest. Regardless of these last two results, we do have a good squad of players, and our new signings will eventually get it right, and once young Josh King gets off the mark, we will probably go on a good run. Don't forget we have another 30 games to go, and we will win plenty of them, as we are nowhere looking like a bad side.

I shouldn't really say this I suppose, but when we took the lead I looked at the odds on bet365, and unbelievably Bournemouth were 18/1. I had a small wager on that, hoping that I would lose really, but won £36. I feel a bit guilty, but they were good odds.

As an ex referee who has actually refereed Fulham, and when I did I just treated it as a normal game, with no bias. No referee worth his salt, would ever favour one team over the other, but I must admit that those on the VAR system, do seem to get it wrong far too many times against us.

Should give the kid a chance, think Kevin tries to hard to be spectacular, but other loanie looks impressive, would definitely sign before someone else does. Just an opinion but why, at 6ft4 tall throw Berge upfront as temp centre forward and bring in another midfielder.

These players need to be on the pitch in some capacity from the start and not given 12-20 minutes. We do not know who the club were after or whether they wanted to join Fulham, whether current club were willing to sell and whether we were willing to meet demands. I was disappointed with lack of new players but our squad should be good enough. Seems like if iwobi isn’t clicking we are not so much of a threat.

We were offered a Chelsea player for £22 million, wonder if he would be sitting on bench. As mentioned in a previous post, Silva is playing a dangerous game if he is trying to prove a point over lack of incomings. Watched Dewsbury Hall the other night and he looked good, another one we were supposedly after that went elsewhere, as I mentioned before need to know all the circumstances. Unfortunately upfront we have two players who are not, currently, massive goal threats, perhaps we should look at who is club free and available. Wouldn’t cost club anything and perhaps wouldn’t demand excessive wages.

Rowe looked razor sharp against Cambridge with a goal and i don't understand what Marco is thinking? I get it to a point when favoured Josh King is in there but for 90 minutes? I am not the best mathematician but the stats say that Smith Rowe is the better bet to get goals. Traore right wing all day long and he will put those slick crosses over no problem.The rest of our boys will sort it and Marco can have an easy night, providing he plays the right team. Why make life difficult like at Villa...

If my memory serves me correctly, I think that he has been with us for about seasons now, and when he arrived, he was like a little boy lost, and not speaking a word of English, which was extremely difficult for him, and then he was shipped off to Boro' where he didn't know a soul, so he must have been completely bewildered by it all. When he returned to the club, and lot of us, including myself, would of happily driven him to the airport, to wave goodbye. However, under Marco, he knuckled down, and got on with learning English, and scored some very important goals. I know say, well done to the lad, andI am delighted that he has signed for 5 years or more, and he is obviously happy with us, and at this stage, we should give him a welcome hug, and I'm sure that he will replay or faith, once fit again, by scoring a few goals for us, and help us to head for Europe.

If however a player is inconsistently poor he should be dropped. Pierra could not shoot straight and his free kicks an corners we dreadful, that is an area where we have improved incredibly. He should have dropped. You also have to appreciate for some reason supporters need a player to moan about and Smith-Rowe has inherited that title. He of course make a rod for his own back with his inconsistency, but if he had a regular place that might change. Marco set an aim to have two good players in each position which he has achieved. The most difficult positions to fill are the strikers. We have two who do not score regularly which is their function. We at least now have more goal scoring alternative in the team but we still have not solved. In Miro we had a value gen and those are not easy to replace with the money we have. A final point is the mental state of the players as against Villa when they equalised it was as if a shadow had fallen over us and we played badly from that point. Players must learn to control their minds and ever get depressed in match, for example if you striker has gone off injured find an effective way to play without them. They are professional and should know how to react. For top teams this sort of reaction is rare for us it happens often. If we want to become a top team we must act as one.

You guys need to understand and accept that we signed him and he should be first priority over Josh King. King is a huge talent but the minutes are stacking up and sooner or later someone has to decide if minutes is good economically, if that makes sense? Smith Rowe and goal returns is actually good and a reasonable return for minutes on the pitch. I will not win a popularity contest by saying that Smith Rowe would have given Fulham better returns for Fulham but i am going to say it regardless. What was the point of spending 39 odd million on Smith Rowe to leave him on limited game time on the bench? I like Marco and he is one of our best managers to manage Fulham but i think he has got this badly wrong. I admit and we can see the improvement in Josh King but at this level it needs to be more. We know our strikers are not that prolific but Jimenez has his limitations and Muniz is still young and raw but we need to grow him and see him mature. Smith Rowe i feel with more pitch time will improve his goal stats further than the six last year or was it 8?

All managers make mistakes, Marco make less of them that is why he is a very good manager. I believe he has an obsession with having a team full of experienced players and any young player has to very, very good to come into his thoughts. Younger players give you more energy and have different ways of thinking. Even Muniz looks good at times except in his lack of scoring potential, which proves Marco's point, But if you are good enough you are old enough.

If we had come in at half time 2-0 up we would still have lost as without a striker most of our fire power had gone and it was easy for villa to attack us. I blame Marco, we have an 18 year old striker who has scored lots of goals and should have been on the bench. Marco must know if only one of your strikers is injured the other will give his all, but his all last a few minutes and without a striker we looked rudderless.

Chuck looks like he could do a job for us but agree with most that we should have signed a striker (even before) Mitro left. Still think we’ll have a good season though although Bournemouth will be tough.

posted by DMK (Guest) - Monday 29th September 2025, 8:14 AM I know it's early days, and we are sitting quite comfortably in 10th place, along with Chelsea and Brighton, but I have a horrible feeling that this season is beginning to look like we are in for a struggle to avoid being in a fight to stay up, basically because our obvious lack of a real striker. Even at this time of the season we can usually have a perspective as to which teams will be in a relegation fight, but this season it's going to be very hard to pinpoint, and it is not going to be a case of, we are far too good to go down. Even with only 8 points we could be much higher up the table, if our goal difference was better, which it isn't. Luckily Arsenal beat Newcastle yesterday saved us from dropping another place, and that is scary.
