Where's Tony Khan? He's been very quiet this season. Apart from a couple of twitter well done notes, he's been silent. I am not complaining but do you think one of Marco's conditions is unity and harmony in the boardroom?

On one hand, I’ve been stunned to see Scotty doing so well. I sense most of us didn’t expect to be trailing in the table, or for Bournemouth to be undefeated. But then I thought about how many goals we should have scored but didn’t during his tenure. How many times Cav or Loftus Cheek blasted over or scuffed an easy shot. How many times Lookman got into a great position only to selfishly shoot instead of passing to an open teammate. In Scott’s cautious system, players have to be clinical. Ours were the opposite. With better finishers, he would have had better results here. Which, in the end, made it insane for him not to play Mitro every match. He led to own demise. Happy he’s gone. We all prefer Marco’s style. That said, it seems he is being proven right about ‘fine margins’ this year, so far. His current team is finishing chances and barely conceding. Will be.interesting to see whose style wins.

Think he’s learnt a lot from he’s time here. No doubt Lady Luck plays a big part.Remember our victories over Liverpool and Portsmouth the end of hodgson first season could of ended a lot differently. Playing in the championship and premier league is a massive gulf that grows every year. Reckon Silva will get us not sure we’ll stay there.

Not surprising that Bournemouth are smashing it because it is all about dynamics and how they are set up. Bournemouth would have had the same problems with the likes of Loftus Cheek, Lookman, and Mitrovic etc. I actually think that Parker jumped ship because he could not unlock the key to Mitrovic up front? Remember how many times Mitro got frustrated because the ball was just not coming to him. Mitrovic got bored and spent too much time going walkies so we cannot really access him for prem just yet. It is a complex puzzle football and management and we can add in the old saying 'horses for courses. The million-dollar question is, Fulham v Bournemouth, who wins? I say Fulham will beat Bournemouth all day long because we will most likely have the young gun Carvalho back in the mix and he will be an extra problem for Parker. Providing we don't have a annilus orribilius of a nightmare back in defense, we will beat Bournemouth.

It is not just luck, the Parker system is based on defence and possession and slow development that does not create many chances. The Silva system is based on stifling the opposition and breaking quickly when you have the ball. It is also obvious that Silva's has told the players to get crosses in to the box as often as possible. He has also worked on the positional strength of the defenders. All round Silva is making us a better team so when we go up we will have a much better stab at staying up and will not need to buy a new team.

Parker did not have the most intelligent bunch up front. Lookman, Cheek and Co do not score goals, hence journeymen! A manager is only as good as the men he trusts to put the ball in the basket! Nournemouth look good up front as do we. West Brom I think will upgrade in the window. It is going to be a right old chase for the two spots!

Regarding the discussion on the ability of SP as a coach/ manager. We the fans have little idea if ‘ other factors’ by which I mean interference from those above had any say into how our club was run? Personally I’m glad he is doing well at Bournemouth ,he always gave his best for us in his playing days and hopefully will get a good ovation on his return to Craven Cottage .

We are all judging Parker on his style over the last 2 years with Fulham. Has anyone watched much of the Bournemouth game? I haven't but would be interested to see if he has changed his tactics? Do they still have more passes between the defenders than anyone else? Looking at the stats. Unlike ours, it doesn't appear they are blowing teams away. Maybe he has changed or tweaked his system. Would be keen to hear.

I've seen a couple of games and in those they did pass a lot but faster and more direct. In the two games I saw they soaked up pressure from the opposition for large parts of the game and scored late goals through defensive mistakes. Difficult to tell to be honest but it wasn't like watching FFC in the Prem or in the Championship in 2019.

Cant help wondering what the football scene here will look like in few years time?, only top six will win any thing so the rest will be cannon fodder and will go up and down mostly same six teams in the mix each season , so whats the answer?. For A STArT REVERT BACK TO SOUTH AND NORTH FOR DIV ONE AND TWO to save money on travel and hotel etc etc,two up from each div, and four down from championship, that will keep clubs on there toes, four up from championship and four down from prem, in time the mix may get fairer .As it is its getting to predictable and not fair to smaller clubs.

Leicester broke the mould, so if you have a good manager a decent defence and a brilliant striker you can break into the top cabal.

Jegs- Of course the thing about the Championship is that, each season, the 2 best teams leave it and 4 other teams depart, to keep it reasonably fresh. And often, at least one of the teams relegated from the PL will struggle. So, yes, removing the 4 best teams in the PL (plus Spurs and Arsenal) would have freshened things up a bit, but the PL would quickly become stale again. Many of our PL seasons were pretty boring. How many of us actually think that our "Great Escape" season was the most memorable in the PL?

I’ve been a fan since early 60’s ..and I think there’s only ever been 5 or 6 teams who win the league ..with a few exceptions every so often ..forest ,Derby,Leeds but the rest of us ..including teams like west ham ,etc are never going to win the league ….Leicester ,Blackburn in recent years ..but it’s always ..Liverpool ,united ,Arsenal ,city now of course …tough to say but Chelsea are now on that list ..and in a few years Newcastle perhaps ….but most real football fans don’t support there club because they win everything ..it’s more complicated than that ..I bit like religion ,it makes no sense but millions and millions believe!!!

It's very simple. Win trophies, increase the fan base, have more money to spend. An explorer coming across an undiscovered tribe in South America would have a good chance of finding one in a Man U shirt. 10 years ago you'd be hard pushed to see a Man City shirt outside Manchester. I seem to have inadvertently stumbled on our problem. Afraid the Intertoto doesn't appear to have been enough likewise any other one time win a la Wimbledon & cheating Coventry.

I hope in January we draw a lower half PL club to test how good we are by then. We are getting better every day under Silva, Ream and Tosin being the best example, their positional play has improved beyond measure. They both look quality defenders now.

Ream went backwards under Parker, he has made huge strides forward under Silva. He one of the best passer in the team, he rarely gets caught in position, he is very solid in defence and frequently start attacks. I cannot see why he cannot be as good as Maguire and he survives in a middle of the table PL team.

Talk of relegation makes no sense. Agree with Time is Now. Hope we get drawn against a Prem team, as this will show how far we have come and have to go. Sorry, I still think Mitrovice is a Championship player and if we get relegated again he will not be banging them like this, no matter who we have. He wasn't able to at Newcastle and probably did not get the chance under SP.

I believe with the right style of football and some slightly better quality players around him Mitro will do better in the premier next time if we get promoted. He is still quite young and he looks much sharper this year his all round game is improving under our new manager and he is a proven goal scorer at international level I believe there is more to come from him.

O.K. a good result but do I not remember you lot wanting the former Swansea Manager here at the Cottage and now at Nottingham Forest? Should have been 0 - 5, that is the way I look at it. If we want to gel and get back in the BIG time. Sad to see Brentford have hit reality. What do you think, Steve Bruce for Mancester United?
Replies
Agreed. It’s clear this is a three team race for two spots. None of the teams below WBA have the talent to compete for the automatics. The key for us is the health of Mitro. If he stays healthy, we will finish top 2. There is enough depth at every other position. If we are forced to play Cav or Muniz up top for a long period, it will be playoffs. Thank God we kept Mitro, a proven international and dominant at this level. I don’t think he’s much different than Harry Kane when healthy and firing - the difference is his teammates, he’s never been surrounded by players like Son, Bale, Lucas Moura, etc. Would be interesting to see him if he got to play with 1-2 world class wingers.

I would like to see more from Tom Cairney. I have bigged him up loads in the past and he came back with a bang and a goal after injury. Against Forest, he was on the pitch but not enough impact or influence in my opinion. Cairney needs to come forward and deliver from free-kicks and be more prominent with passes going forward and not side to side and backwards. Seri is Seri and he does what he does. Cairney needs to graft more and stand out differently from Seri if that makes sense? We always have the tiger option in Harrison Reed if Tom Cairney is too quiet...

We seemed to be struggling with our distribution in the first half and a better side would have punished us for that. Thought Forest were poor and we took the opportunity and punished them. Seri was excellent and his work rate was great. Would still like to see Reed next to Seri and maybe TC behind Mitro, having said that can’t fault Silva so better I leave it to him. Well done Fulham.

I wasn't able to watch today's game, but I did listen to the commentary on Talksport and although some supporters on our two sites, are almost condemning us for playing badly and winning, the commentators were singing our praises, and saying how well that we played, and said that Seri must be one of the best, if not the best player in the Championship, and he would not be out of place in the Premier League, and that at this stage of the season the automatic promotion places, look like being filled by us and Bournemouth. Personally I am thrilled to bits with this win, as the best I expected was a hard fought draw, and 0-4 is the result that dreams are made of.

Yes' i agree Seri is the best holding player in the Championship and our team, not outstanding today but still decent enough against Forest who i think had a horribilus nightmare game similar to what we had against Coventry, it happens! We should also remember that Seri was a part of our failed 100 million project and most Fulham fans rated as failures and bad buys basically. I am one of his biggest fans now and it would be nice to see Seri pop one of his specials in now and again like he did against Burnley? I like Tom Cairney and he had a nice introduction back after injury with a goal last week. Cairney needs to know that more intensity is required from him because sometimes our game 'needs' stepping up in tempo if that makes sense? Good away win at Forest and we would like to see more from Seri and Cairney and Wilson concerning free-kicks. Who wouldn't like to see a 20 yard stunner go in every now and again just to get the juices flowing? Glad to see Kebano get on the score-sheet, he deserves a goal. Infact, we need more shots on target form all our boys, but well done and thank you guys for giving us a win away at Forest which could and should have been more difficult. That is a summing up from todays game in which we won without playing excemptional football but a win is a win folks of Fulham!!!!!!
posted by OWEN (Guest) - Sunday 24th October 2021, 7:28 PM

What a strange game in so many ways the the worst one was Wilson clearly be hacked down and gets booked for simulation. At least the ref was even handed. Bad decisions for both sides were fairly even so that's alright. An own goals, a penalty a goal where a defender passes the ball to Mitro in front of goal and one good team goal. That said Forests record under their new manager was amazing until we hammered them today. Siva's tactics are almost identical to Man C, squeeze the life out of the opposition and when they lose the ball break quickly and we are getting better and better at it. A very strong test today which we passed with flying colours. Hammer WBA and Bournemouth and we are away heading out of sight.

The first half just finished, If I didn’t know better I would think Forest were the team fancied for promotion, Time after time Fulham when under pressure give the ball away, we still tend to want to play our way out of our penalty area when we have a goal kick a few times we have been under pressure with this system of tip tap toe and our keeper is a little suspect with the ball at his feet. We need to be more on out toes in the second half, move the ball faster and stop all the passing back and sideways, what is needed is more passing into the channels give the front runners a chance get onto the ball, hopefully we will improve in the second half.

Mark right back, I don’t know if your watching the game live, I am, Fulham were dreadful in the first half, thank goodness they are much improved in the second half, It’s not a matter of not having faith in the team, it’s a matter of expressing my views on the state of play which I’m quite entitled to do.

I am watching the game ,..and yes I agree I do t think we looked good in the first half …and I’m sure the team and the manager would agree with you …but they sorted it out and we win 4-0 and didn’t play that well …what I’m saying is have a little faith in manager and the team to sort things out at half time ..

Looking similar to the Coventry game , leading 1-0 but not playing well . Giving the ball away all over the pitch and being pressed in to errors . Need to come out fighting and show the attitude we had against little rangers

As most of you know I am a great admirer of watching under 23 & 18 teams. And I try to give my as seen comments when I have attended. My complaint is, if one wishes to read the official match reports on any Fulham web page (blank).Yes there are reports almost at match end, but always from the opposition sides, is the clubs press side not up to it or just lazy. Come on, at the moment we are top of both leagues which surely must arouse some enthusiasm.

Why bother with sport if we're going to worry about offending everyone all the time? Imagine implementing a 'no taunting' rule in the NFL? Might as well cancel sport all together. Football? How about allowing 'swimming gestures' as a celebration. Imagine calling the police because you don't like how a team celebrated.

Why bother with anything? Comedy, music, art, it all has the potential to "offend" and "hurt peoples feelings". You literally cannot say anything without someone taking offense these days. It must be so exhausting to live in a permanently offended state. Cue Odd Dave/Boredsword/OzNick...

I'd some idiot at a meeting recently trying to get us to take part in some mindfulness nonsense which I left the room for on the grounds that my religion forbids indulging in meditation due to its occult connections. That went down like a French kiss at a family reunion. Works Christmas functions now have to pander to every type of diet or religion so aren't worth the bother of organising or attending. I'm leaning towards having the non pink members of the cast lecture the pink skins continuously about their travails and that of their race regardless of what is going on in the plot. Was also thinking about having an Irish character banging on about the genocide of the population in the 1850s famine but thought it unlikely there'd be any interest today to events that occurred nearly 200 years ago.

Some of today's results are really worrying me, and I'm not talking about either Bournemouth or WBA. Cardiff for a start have lost 0-2 to Middlesbrough, and we were pushed to beat them mid week. Coventry have only drawn at home to Derby, this against a team that trounced us a couple of weeks ago, and QPR, have lost away to a struggling Peterborough side. In my opinion, these results are proving that our form is not all it's cracked up to be, and we are in danger of losing against Notts Forest tomorrow.

Norwich 3-0 down. Looking at the faces of the Norwich fans, are they glad they got promoted? Winning gives great satisfaction in any league, same as losing gives despondency in any league
Replies
It is obvious that there are Premier League managers and Championship managers. There is still loyalty in football but a lot of it misplaced. Twice when we got promoted we should have said thank you to Jovanovich and Parker when they got us promoted and appointed a Premier League manager immediately. The big difference this time is we already have a Premier League manager who is getting us to play like a Premier League team already and knows what players we need and is developing the skills of the players we have got. When we get promoted we will look more like Leeds than Norwich
posted by The Time Is Now - Saturday 23rd October 2021, 2:04 PM

Norwich strolled the championship without getting into fifth gear. This year, they are being walked over by all the teams like a dirty floor mat. Mitro is the best striker in the championship by a mile but we still have doubt if he would be good enough next season should we get promoted. The gap between the worst in the premier and the best in the championship is getting bigger and bigger. Forget super league. We already have one!!
posted by John (Guest) - Saturday 23rd October 2021, 2:27 PM

Certainly the buck stops with the manager but the players need to raise their game and step up to the plate. Looking at Brentford who finished well below Norwich last year have raised their game, their team spirit has excelled. Teams like Norwich and maybe us will happily get promoted take the money and get relegated then rely on parachute payments to give us a head start in the championship.

Lol. Wonder who my doppelgänger is? I won't sleep till I've rooted him out. Yes,, I do like my football although recently fallen out of love with it. I've been a Fulham supporter since being dropped off in the smoke with my arse hanging out of my trousers in 1982. Lived in Hammersmith then, on the Broadway. Clarendon Hotel anyone? Anyway, probably had a season ticket for about 25 seasons since then. Work commitments and covid since explains the gaps in years although I have always managed to get down to some matches, especially in our wilderness years. Usually in the hammy end but have tried Stevenage Rd and Putney. Not bothered this year as I've gone a bit Greta Garbo but am thinking of slumming it again next year in the new stand if it's not outrageously priced. That's the life story Fulhamwise. I leave the football chat to Owen and you other pundits.

Yep, they redeveloped the Broadway in 1988 and knocked it all down, Britainna went with it. Couple of Dubliners ran it for Fullers. They won the best kept cellar about 5 years running so you got a good pint if you drank there. Unfortunately I've a bit of an encyclopaedic knowledge of the pubs round there in the 80s and 90s. The 2000s as well, to my chagrin.

Paddy, you may be able to help, there is a photo by Lewis Morley named bride entering the pub in Hammersmith. It's not Hammersmith. I've had a quick Google and the 71 bus in the picture ran from Hammersmith to Kingston in the '50s across Chuswick Bridge. There was a J D Firmston's coal office in Mortlake according to the Internet too. It's near a station too because of the hotel behind the bus. I'd guess maybe Putney High Street or thereabouts . Perhaps the photographer was on the Fullers and forgot where he was.

At the grand old age of 33, Dennis Odoi needs game-time and a good dose of consistency. Odoi is demonstrating to Marco and audience what he is capable of and what he can do playing in that utility position. This season we are seeing some great assists and some good injection of pace to bring the ball forward in games too. Just like marmite, love him or hate him, Marco loves Dennis Odoi i think, judging from the amount of game-time Dennis is involved in. Dennis will know that too many errors by himself will probably cost him his place and more importantly, he may find himself surplus to requirements in his twilight years in football. There is hope and glory for Dennis Odoi judging on the career of Ronaldo at age 26 at utd. If Ronaldo can do it, so too can our Dennis playing at right-back and from any utility position. Odoi is still showing remarkable pace from defense to attack just looking at his form against Cardiff. Is it me looking down from rose-tinted glasses? Did Dennis Odoi play his best game for Fulham in a long while against Cardiff? There can be no slip-ups or any more calamities from Odoi, we know he can be stupid sometimes. What he have in Dennis Odoi is a very talented utility player who has given us some great memories in a Fulham shirt. My Favorite memory is his glancing headed goal in play0ffs and maybe one of our best games and his up against Newcastle with Benitez and we beat them soundly and anyone remember the Odoi trick with the ball? Keep doing what you are doing Dennis Odoi and remember consistency is everything at your age. You are not everybody's cup of tea but guess what mate'? I think that Marco Silva loves you and you might even get to a level of undroppable just like 'Jean Michael Seri' COME ON FULHAM UP AT THE FOREST!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agree time is now, and the reason he’s had a few errors in other seasons is he never hides when others are not doing enough

We also need to be mindful that Odoi's game-time will be limited when Tete returns, but still, i think if he can keep up to a level, there is room for him elsewhere on the pitch for cover...

I know this is a footie forum, but I have to get this out of my system. I’m fed up with the NHS forever whingeing and whining how they are so overworked. They go to work like I do and work continuously throughout my 12 hour shift with an half hour break. You can’t work more if you are working flat out in the first place. I see ambulances waiting outside hospitals for hours, well they ain’t actually doing hard graft are they? And let’s be honest besides the specialist nurses the others are mainly bum wipers. The GPs have never had so easy, they don’t see anybody face to face anymore. Now they want to lock us down again! Nobody forced them to work for the NHS with guaranteed employment, decent wages and conditions plus a Final Salary Pension. If they don’t like it, leave. The trouble is we’ve put them on a pedestal with all that standing in the streets clapping, they seem to have forgotten they serve us, we don’t serve them. Compared to some other civilised countries our NHS ain’t that special. I know I’m going to get the usual response from all the Labour lefties and Woke brigade, but I feel better for getting it off my chest. Great win last night, onwards and upwards

I think when the NHS is good, it’s very good; but when it’s bad it’s very bad. The surgeons often perform miracles, but some bad mistakes are made. The point is that it is only a health service, why do we need to make out it’s something special. I can’t remember people standing and applauding in the street for our men and women serving in horrendous conditions in Afghanistan and losing their lives, and suffering life changing injuries. Perhaps they just get on with their jobs and stop complaining.

Ok, so here's my view for what it's worth!

My wife has worked for the NHS as a community nurse caring for palliative patients as well as reablement for those discharged from hospital to recover from strokes, heart attacks, etc. for 20+ years and actually she agrees with the guts of your post.

In terms of numbers of infections increasing; of course the numbers are going up, nearly 500,000 people are taking LFD tests every day. I test every day for my job for example.

Of the 40,000 cases per day, 50% of those are children and a high percentage of the other 20,000 are adults who have refused or can't be given the jab for medical reasons. If you make an assumption that 5% of the 2,000 unjabbed (for whatever reason) proletariat are vulnerable and at risk then we are talking about 100 people per day are at risk of hospitalisation, serious illness or death. More people died of flu in north Yorkshire yesterday!!

Please don't refer to the number of deaths within 28 days of a positive Covid test because that statistic is nonsense and likely (and known) that the large majority of those people died of a previous health condition and then caught Covid in hospital.

We have to learn to live with another ailment that might kill people like cancer, flu, hepatitis, shingles, etc., etc., etc. Having the Covid jab annually will be no different than having the flu jab or the vaccinations you have to travel overseas on holiday.

I'm not saying people shouldn't take precautions because they should but is that any different to not smoking to prevent certain cancers or not going to work when you have flu? Personally I don't wear a mask unless I'm asked and then do so without quibble however, I have no issue with those who prefer so to do and even my wife still wears one when shopping or in a crowded area.

Everyone must do what they feel comfortable with but for goodness sake, the NHS is not overwhelmed with Covid patients nor likely to be so those who believe all the rhetoric on either side of the debate, please stop telling others what they should or should not do. Let's get on with our lives and work together to recover the economy and the vast fiscal deficit for which this disease is responsible.

I agree, great result and enjoyable game last night:0))

In the bad old days over 50% of the people who went to the doctor for cold, flu, minor cuts or just for a talk. A system to keep these people from wasting doctors time has been developed, in my view about time. If you apply online or by phone you will be asked what the problem is.

That is an improvement

NHS workers who have all seen many of their fellow worker die, do not want waiting rooms full of sick people passing on what ever they have got to everybody else. It was always a stupid idea so you now wait in your car or outside until you are called to your appointment.

That is an improvement.

It is a new system an will take a while but if timewasters do not fill up a GPs time and people do not get infected in waiting rooms that will be a very good improvement.

I agree with much of what SS comments. I have a consultant in my family. He retired at the age of 55 on a nice little lump sum and a fat pension! Then he went back to work on a part time basis. The NHS is always moaning that it is short of money. So why does it allow highly trained and skilled personnel retire at such an early age. What another poster commented the NHS is a sacred cow which will never have enough money. Having said that I am not criticising the many marvellous people who work for it.

Len, it’s their job, that’s what they get paid for; the same as pilots fly you safely. The NHS isn’t a charity supplying services, it’s full of professionals, admittedly some paid more than others, but that is up to their individual staff organisations to sort out. It’s polite to thank the individuals, but they are not the saints the press and politicians try to make them out as. The RNLI in my view are heroes risking their lives for no rewards to save others.

Have to agree with SS. One thing that really grates on me is people who accept a job under particular terms and then moan that they are hard done by. My wife has not had a pay rise for some 10 years or so but never once have I heard her complain about money - she does the job because a) she chose it as her vocation and b) she enjoys it. We all pay a very serious amount of money from our NI subscriptions and income tax over a working life time to fund the NHS and most people barely make a claim against that investment. Never saw the point in the pointless clapping actually - the Hippocratic Oath they take when the sign up and get paid makes them very aware of the requirements of the job. See next post.....

Hippocratic Oath

I swear by Apollo Physician and Asclepius and Hygieia and Panaceia and all the gods and goddesses, making them my witnesses, that I will fulfil according to my ability and judgment this oath and this covenant:

To hold him who has taught me this art as equal to my parents and to live my life in partnership with him, and if he is in need of money to give him a share of mine, and to regard his offspring as equal to my brothers in male lineage and to teach them this art - if they desire to learn it - without fee and covenant; to give a share of precepts and oral instruction and all the other learning to my sons and to the sons of him who has instructed me and to pupils who have signed the covenant and have taken an oath according to the medical law, but no one else.

I will apply dietetic measures for the benefit of the sick according to my ability and judgment; I will keep them from harm and injustice.

I will neither give a deadly drug to anybody who asked for it, nor will I make a suggestion to this effect. Similarly I will not give to a woman an abortive remedy. In purity and holiness I will guard my life and my art.

I will not use the knife, not even on sufferers from stone, but will withdraw in favor of such men as are engaged in this work.

Whatever houses I may visit, I will come for the benefit of the sick, remaining free of all intentional injustice, of all mischief and in particular of sexual relations with both female and male persons, be they free or slaves.

What I may see or hear in the course of the treatment or even outside of the treatment in regard to the life of men, which on no account one must spread abroad, I will keep to myself, holding such things shameful to be spoken about.

If I fulfil this oath and do not violate it, may it be granted to me to enjoy life and art, being honored with fame among all men for all time to come; if I transgress it and swear falsely, may the opposite of all this be my lot.

Modern Version of the Hippocratic Oath

I swear to fulfill, to the best of my ability and judgment, this covenant:

I will respect the hard-won scientific gains of those physicians in whose steps I walk, and gladly share such knowledge as is mine with those who are to follow.

I will apply, for the benefit of the sick, all measures which are required, avoiding those twin traps of overtreatment and therapeutic nihilism.

I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon's knife or the chemist's drug.

I will not be ashamed to say "I know not," nor will I fail to call in my colleagues when the skills of another are needed for a patient's recovery.

I will respect the privacy of my patients, for their problems are not disclosed to me that the world may know. Most especially must I tread with care in matters of life and death. If it is given me to save a life, all thanks. But it may also be within my power to take a life; this awesome responsibility must be faced with great humbleness and awareness of my own frailty. Above all, I must not play at God.

I will remember that I do not treat a fever chart, a cancerous growth, but a sick human being, whose illness may affect the person's family and economic stability. My responsibility includes these related problems, if I am to care adequately for the sick.

I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure.

I will remember that I remain a member of society, with special obligations to all my fellow human beings, those sound of mind and body as well as the infirm.

If I do not violate this oath, may I enjoy life and art, respected while I live and remembered with affection thereafter. May I always act so as to preserve the finest traditions of my calling and may I long experience the joy of healing those who seek my help.

Anyone got any experience of the health services of other countries? I'm talking about cost, services provided etc. Is the NHS the only ones who get clapped? On the whole I've been satisfied with the treatment myself and family members have had but there's been the odd shambolic effort. I've certainly never felt the need to stand on my doorstep and clap them. I mean, I have paid thorough NI contributions. Have I been getting a stonking deal which justifies me having to clap them? How do the Europeans fund their healthcare and is it good or bad? I can't see the French outside clapping unless it involves dining. I have to admit I've not really read all the thread so apologies if this has been answered .

…some people commenting on this board don't go to or watch full games.

It was clear right from the kick off when the ball went straight back to their keeper that, Cardiff's intentions were to go long and so it proved. There is not a lot our guys can do to intercept when balls are going straight over the front line and midfield to be mopped up by the defence. They then let us have the ball in our own half but crowded the midfield to stop us getting through which worked relatively effectively in the first half I would say. A draw was what they came for and so it played out for 45 minutes.

Second half, the weather was atrocious and that played into our hands as we were able to implement slick fast passing along the ground that sliced through their midfield but their defence held out until a moment of magic from TC. After the Cardiff had to come out which left space at the back to exploit and a defensive mistake led to our second goal.

Wilson had a good game overall but tried too many Hollywood shots from outside the box when Mitro was in space. The back line overall, played well and for the most part Seri ran the game. Reed was his usual industrious self but his injury led to TC coming on and scoring our first goal. Why Man City let Tosin go for £2m we'll never know but so glad they did - he is pure class in a back four or five. Kebano ran his socks off and Mitro was everywhere.

We did not, in my opinion revert to playing Cardiff's game, we persevered with our passing game and skill, fitness and tactics won us that game. It was a real workman like performance that won us that game and our class showed through in the end.

Calling Robinson out is wrong and he made some effective runs in both halves as well as defended well at times. He is no Luke Shaw but he is effective at this level and a good stand in for Bryan in my opinion. Seri lost the ball in midfield a few times and Robinson came to the rescue on more than one occasion.

It was a team effort with a class first goal and a second goal that caused a mistake from our high press. We are a super team at this level and I still believe that we will win this league. Some people should stop trying to find fault where there is none just to see their names lit up on this board ;0)).

Agree with your comments. Regarding Robinson he did make a number of passes that gave the ball away today, but his pace often gets him out of trouble. I like Bryan, but I think Silva regards Robinson as his first choice. It's not a bad problem to have. We now have the same issue on the right as Tete was on the bench last night, I think Odoi will be second choice. We're soon going to have an embarrassment of riches in the midfield now Cairney is back and Carvalho not far off. We're better than West Brom and we can beat them this month at home and put some distance between us. COYW!

Not sure about the pass back from kick off see a couple of teams do it over the weekend not sure what the tactic is unless it’s the big boot from keeper to catch opposition cold IE last night one of their strikers looked to be even taller than our defenders gave us some early problems . Been a good week so far need to win on Sunday keep pressure on teams around us

100% agree MT. We played some good football last night. The weather was horrible and as you rightly said Cardiff came for a point. Sometimes it seems that some posters on here cannot wait until a player makes a mistake and out comes the Laptop. Of course everyone is entitled to have an opinion but we can’t expect all 11 to play without making a mistake now and then. Robinson for instance did give the ball away at times but he also covered Ream and Kebano. We have a style that is more enjoyable to watch and we should be up there at the seasons end. We must take into consideration that mistakes will be made.

A C is right, but we have, at the moment made our so called class tell, but I must say with the terrible mistakes we have made a better side would have made us work a lot harder.I can't make Robinson out, one match he looks the bees knees, but tonight he looked extremely poor.

Robinson not on his game today, gave ball away too much. Nice comeback Tom Cairney and i think that Odoi was exceptional using his pace to great effect coming forward. When Odoi plays like that, he looks top class. We have a tougher test at Forest at the weekend. They are flying at the moment and the game against them will tell us how far forward we are. Only 5 points behind Parker now!!!!!!!

Interesting tactic by McCarthy to give us room. Most sides use the high press against us and we can use the space behind them, Cardiff backed off and let us come at them I guess hoping to hit us on the break. We won't get that much space in many games this season, not sure what i prefer.

I thought everybody played well and it was a very solid win that puts us into second. Two very good team goals and great news that Cairney is back. some of us had forgotten what a good player he is. I can find nothing to whinge about.

I beg to differ as to Scott Parker ticking all the right boxes for the next England managers job. He’s a white heterosexual working class English male which straight away puts him at a disadvantage, they will much rather appoint a person of colour to placate BLM and everyone else who throws the racist word at you as soon as your opinion doesn’t follow theirs. The only thing he’s got going for him is his boring style of play that the FA would be more than happy with.

For some reason the press do not like Fulham, Praising Parker is a way of getting at us, but they know he is an adequate Championship manager, but know where near a PL one.

Why on earth advertise Forest tickets on a Fulham site? I'd write to my MP but not sure who it is. We need some form of National Service to put some backbone into these youngsters. Or the birch. Once saw a nice birch tree in Sherwood Forest which is near Nottingham. Not a bad place. Nightlife good, full of crumpet. How much are the tickets out of interest?

Should have kept Parker what a good job he is doing at Bournemouth, a very bright young coach who will get better with experience. We let him go at the wrong time. At best with Silva we might make the play offs.
Replies
Silva and the players had a blip (hopefully). But we are watching much more exciting football and if we can win our next 3 games, we might be back on track for an automatic spot. Bournemouth are not exactly playing teams off the park - not Parker style and they will at some point have a blip!

We really should the question why Parker failed with us, yet is flying with Bournemouth. Was it him, us or the hierarchy at the Club?

Parker's system relies on defensively minded players and dominating possession. Our players had not played this system. Another reason is that this season has shown our best two players are Seri and Mitro and he choose to exclude them. The interview with Seri on the Fulham site is very interesting, it was not his choice to go on loan when we were relegated. Parkers system did not suit the players we had. Silva has found a system that suits our players.

Parker upset half the squad and we would have pretty much have had to rebuild if he stayed. Daft to even think about what would have been. He inherited a good squad at Bournemouth that under achieved last season and brought in a couple of squad players. WBA and Bournemouth have to play us and each other twice yet and that's 12 points plus the myriad of additional points to be played for in the rest of the season. The fat lady is still skinny right now let alone put on enough weight to get on the rostrum and start singing - move on!
posted by MT - Wednesday 20th October 2021, 12:20 PM

Parker got us promoted at first time of asking, despite inheriting a demoralised squad after the Ranieri debacle. He also had some creditable PL performances with away wins at Liverpool, Everton, Leicester and draws at Spurs, Arsenal, that's not the work of someone who doesn't know what they are doing. And yes he did upset Mitrovic but he was not fit enough and is not good enough for the PL. Silva will also have the same problem with Mitrovic if we get promoted. Parker was let down with recruitment.

Each year in the Championship you get a runaway team. Unfortunately this year it’s going to be Bournemouth. I reckon our best chance will be in the Playoffs. I’ve seen both West Brom (who scraped a 1-0 win in the 90th+ min) and Bournemouth (who could only draw 0-0 ) at Posh this season who look dead certs for relegation. And if they are the best two teams in the Championship, it shows just how poor this league is. The gulf with the Premiership is massive and if Fulham can’t beat these two, then I’m sorry, they don’t deserve promotion.
Replies
They were very luck to win. We beat WBA and Bournemouth it will all change a we become the run away team.

Jegs on the one hand you write Bournemouth are the runaway team then you write they and WBA are certs for relegation. You write Fulham will only make the play-offs then say they don't deserve promotion. If you have seen Fulham play then you will know that, with the exception of three games, we are class at this level. Your post is conflicting and confusing to be honest mate. We are only a quarter of the way through the season and are the highest scorers in the league and sit in third with West Brom and Bournemouth still to play. In addition the other two do not have the funds that FFC have to strengthen in January and we still have Carvalho and Tete to come back - not to mention Cairney!! Be patient and you will see that we will be promoted without the agony of the play-offs.
posted by MT - Wednesday 20th October 2021, 7:21 AM

MT, I think you misread Jegs’s post - he was saying Peterborough are certs for relegation yet B’mouth could only draw 0-0 with them. Otherwise, he is being unduly pessimistic - as you say, we still have to play WBA & Bournemouth home & away, and Parker’s bubble will burst at some point. No team ever gets through a Championship season without a dip in form and hopefully we have had ours.

Sorry if my posting was confusing. Firstly I’ve supported Fulham since the late fifties but unfortunately it is on the TV that I can mostly watch them these days. I’ve lived in Peterborough for nearly 50 years, my grandson is a Posh supporter and I accompany him to most of their home matches. The point I was making was that in most years there is usually a runaway team and it looks like it’s going to be Bournemouth. Having seen both Bournemouth and West Brom I wasn’t impressed and in my humble opinion is that Fulham look far superior to both, and moreover have a much stronger squad; but unfortunately I don’t think that will guarantee them automatic promotion, although I of course hope it does. On November 6 I will be sitting amongst the Posh supporters hoping that Fulham put on a hell of a show and take all three points. Unfortunately I was hoping to take my grandson for the return match but it’s midweek on a school night

No matter what we think of Parker-ball, they will be thereabouts in play-off position or better? It looks like they will go 8 clear and hard to peg back? We must maintain pace and keep in distance with them. Fulham are a good team but there are slight concerns for me. For instance, why do we slip up against teams that we should beat? International breaks is our favorite excuse yet we played a competitive QPR after internationals and beat them convincingly and players showed no sign of tiredness. Cardiff got beat soundly by Swansea and we should really beat them tomorrow with our form. If the game was up in Wales, then it might have been closer, but we are at home and it should be routine business as usual. Our game against Bournemouth will be interesting to say the least. Believe me' Parker will be working on a plan to nullify Mitrovic and co. We need more guns, and we need Carvalho back to fire more bullets. Fulham are not good enough yet to do without Carvalho and calibre. Scott Parker for all his bore football, he lives and breathes football and he likes puzzles and he will work them out eventually. If we get back to our original squad that took us out in front of the championship, we should have enough to beat anyone. I still can't explain some of our losses to lesser teams? That is a worry for me...
