DMK I agree with you. That’s why I’m protesting the homophobic rant that is still on this board. It’s disgusting and needs to be deleted. Perhaps if MST won’t do it, Baz you would be decent enough to so we can get on with Fulham chat.

I see MST has once again deleted a thread that is critical of his moderating style and kept the homOphonic rant by Arizonian. Every time you do that you are simply proving my point. You priorities are so out of whack. Stop treating this board like the MST club and start moderating properly. So simple. Stupid actions for a seemingly clever guy. (MST I can keep doing this all day so please stop deleting)

The so called ‘old faithful’ have gone unchallenged on this site for too long. So if the exodus means less racists, homophobes and bigots representing our club online. Good ridence. This is a Fulham football forum and the day they are all gone, my job is done. I represent the values of our club not the values of small Minded few.

Looks like Premier league will definite restart therefore, championship is likely to follow. Whether the games will be played in home grounds with empty stadium or in neutral grounds, Fulham probably have some luck here in that they would have been playing away to West Brom, Leeds, Forest and QPR - all with relatively hostile fans. With an empty stadium, Ellan Road is not as daunting as it would be on a Wednesday evening with a packed stadium and 35k fans!!

Our biggest factor maybe a fully fit squad! Bryan. Mawson. Arter. Christie. Cairney. Mitro. We will be playing 2 games a week for 5-6 weeks! If everyone is fit - we will have an advantage on all teams, including Leeds!

Mawson first game back John? Along with his fitness, also a mistake in him. Christie seems to have found a new zest for life after sitting on the bench for so long. Christie knows that he must bring his 'A' game to the table...

By the time the first ball is kicked in the league's resumption, the teams will not have played competitively for over 3 months. This break is longer than the normal summer break including pre-season matches. We will be going into these full blown matches relatively cold without the usual pre-season warm up. we tend to start our campaigns slowly and our starting match against B'ford is going to be tough. We have got to hit the ground running being strong and competitive and can not sit back and rely on playing our pretty style of football to see us through.

From BBC website about 10 minutes ago. "What does the law say on leaving your main home? Reality Check Dominic Cummings defended his actions, saying: “The legal rules do not cover all circumstances including those that I found myself in”. So, what do they say? The law that police were enforcing at the time Mr Cummings drove to Durham is the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) Regulations 2020. It says: “During the emergency period, no person may leave the place where they are living without reasonable excuse.” It then lists a series of reasonable excuses: To obtain basic necessities like food or medicine; to take exercise; to seek medical assistance; to provide care or assistance to a vulnerable person; to donate blood; to travel for the purposes of work or to provide voluntary or charitable services; to attend a funeral of a household member or close family member; to access critical public services; for access arrangements with a child who does not live with one or both parents; for a religious minister to visit their place of worship; to move house where reasonably necessary; to avoid injury or illness or to escape a risk of harm. It’s important to stress that, before the list, it says “a reasonable excuse includes the need”. So the list is not exhaustive - a reasonable excuse might arguably be something that is not on it. It is also important to make a distinction between the law and the guidelines drawn up by the government."

It was quite obvious that he was and always will be satisfied that in his mind he did nothing wrong. One thing he surely can't justify is going for a half hours drive to make sure his eyesight was ok for the drive back home.!!!! At least it's original, so if you are stopped by the old bill whilst out driving you know what to say

Where i live the authorities do not give a hoot about social distancing. I think they broke up one party and publicized it and that is about as far as they went. 2 motorbikes where confiscated apparently and i don't know how the poor chaps got to where they were going? I think that happened in one of the posher areas of town. England is a far more darker place when neighbors grass on each other, i find it shocking. It seems to happen in the more affluent areas surprisingly. The most important detail we need to see to now is work! Peddle to the meddle is needed now and anyone ready and able for work is needed. I don't know how talented Dominic Cummings is to Boris? Put it this way, if he was Mitrovic, there is no way i would even consider sacking him. Then again i am talking football and i suppose it is debatable if football is a job. That Scottish minister sacked one of hers and i guess she was replaceable and not talented enough for Scotland...

BillyBee, people were breaking the rules from the very start of this lockdown and much worse than Cummings. People where i live held parties and some were well documented in the news. We have the community police who allegedly do not have any powers whatsoever and they do their best to break up groups of people from the beginning of the virus but to no avail. Sadly these guys have given up the ghost around the area. Let's just say that some communities socialize openly with family and friends. There are no arrest whatsoever, maybe because the authorities don't care about certain folks? The jails would be so full the authorities wouldn't be able to keep the lights on in the jails? I consider myself working class but i couldn't vote for the idiot's brigade under labour. I turned and voted for Boris this time around. Cummings is maybe a little arrogant but he would i would say be a touch treated unfairly judging from what i have observed. Things will go one of two ways after this with labour gaining more votes from the so called unpopular Boris who they say is useless, or Boris could gain more votes in popularity and surprise a few people who hate him. Firstly i believe in God and i vote consevatives. My council house is paid for thanks to the help of the good Lord. Maggie Thathcher encouraged me to do that. I wish Cummings the best because many more people have behaved badly under this lockdown more so than him. There has always been rich and poor in this world from biblical times and that is the way how the cookie is. Corbyn's dream of destroying the rich and everybody equal will never happen. There has always been Kings, Master of the house, servants, etc. Let us all accept that and move on because there is much work to be done. Lets all get back to work and maybe we will have some football and Fulham again.

And with storeys that are coming out a nasty bit of work, in all my time lve never know someone to put there party in so much trouble and not resign the arrogance of the man

All I and I would hope that you would all agree is we want our leaders to be honest. It seems incongruous that he said he was testing his eyes. Funny he had his son and wife with him especially as it was his wife’s birthday. Anyway it happened here and he resigned his position. But they serve their penance and come back later. More importantly can someone tell me the latest on Fulham long term injured players?

The new Fulham setup under the Khans keeps injury news very quiet. Never much info about recovery expectations etc but would hope most the team is fit after this break. Alfie Mawson is made of glass - that i know for sure - and I wouldn't expect to see him in a Fulham shirt very often. £20m well spent.

I agree guy's that Cummings should have stepped up in the honesty stakes but right from the start in my hometown Derby, folks have broken the rules concerning lockdown. Our local police don't seem to care. Where i live they send out more community police on the beat to sort of look the part. Community police don't have the full powers and they do their best to encourage people to stay off the streets and not congregate together socially. I am not posh or affluent or anything like that but it seems like the posh people are getting the full force of the law concerning this virus. Matlock Bikers singled out is different. 2

It seems a possibility that we may see an agreement within the next two weeks to play the remaining games, and deciding promotion as per usual the first two and a playoff. What worries me is that i think there are 4 players in our team that are basically lazy, and this layoff would have not done them any good in regard to fitness or our chances of either guaranteed promotion or playoff success. OK this is only my opinion which is based on watching training sessions, any other thoughts relating to.

Great player and glad he has signed..to compare him with Matt is not relevant. Fabio is more Pat Roberts and Ive seen him many times..Fabio is a class player and stronger than people would think..his greatest asset is he reads the game better than most..however..if I was Tony Kahn the MOR is a player who is unique..6 foot 3 but runs faster than most (Little guys look faster) ..dictates the tempo of the game and stats back that up..U23's chances created ..he had more than rest of team last season..Can play Deep or offensive and in his games with the first team games has been in top 2-3 outfield players..and he's 19 which is v young for a CM..Both great but teams are built around MOR's..Also a concern Fabio only has a 2 year deal..

The likes of Sean Davis probably would not have made it in todays game. Circumstances fell in his favor, he was fortune to come into a struggling side in the old 4th division and was good enough to prove his worth in every division he played for us. Today, I doubt he would have been given the chance and like Matt O'Reilly, find it difficult to break into and stay in the first team. I feel sorry for our young talent when the Club pays millions for over rated, over paid garbage like the Knockaerts of this World.

Ive been watching MOR for last two years..abroad the only real stats and views you get are first team and some of the trpohy games. Of the ones e have stats on him he covers more K thna virtually anyone. He also created more chances and key passes than anyone when playing forward. Versus SOuthampton this year he was viewed as the best outfield player. SO I thinkhe is so very different from the others..also athleticism?? Ive seen his stats and his coverage. He is fast strong and covers ground more than most. Because his height makes people think he's slow. If ever you get the chance wacth him nail Redmond from soton in a chase from one end to the other.. I think he will stay and be intergral if he gets a chance..if not then he will in demand but my gut says he wants to do it at Fulham..shame if he doesnt get the chance. Personally think he is better than Sessegnons Roberts and any of the others. It just is harder for CM's to get the break a

I for one was banging on about Marek Rodek over a year ago and why he should be given a chance, well he eventually got it and what a revelation he has been, well another of my predictions was Cody Dramah a versatile left or right full back, along with jay Stansfield & Matt o'reilly. Well cutting things short it appears that young Cody is interesting Man City, Everton & Celtic but has never made our bench, does blinkered Parker never watch the talented youth on our door step especially in one of the positions we are weak in.

One Rodak even says he needed his two seasons on loan at Rotherham he’s in the side now must be happy signed 4 year deal praised Parker for giving him his chance and Betts for helping him Two Cody has promise that’s why clubs are looking at him not ready for first team Parker will know when he does watch the kids and has them training with first team. 3 fell Odio done better job for club than he gets credit for. Even Christie now playing better under Parker Steve Sessegnon started well but like Cody still leaning and had to be rested 4 if Cody goes to Man City be only for money will get less games than Roberts. As for Parker when he took over club was in a mes his respected in the game and are 3rd in table. Your right we have got some good kids that’s why clubs look at them, but you can’t put them all in at once you choose the right time like we did with Rodak

DMK' Kunye, i don't always agree with but he does make more training and reserve games than most fans. Rodak, i will give him that accolade, Kunye was raving on about him a long time before his debut. Cody i don't know anything about but concerning Christie? He will almost certainly revert back to type, Christie i think is still not good enough for the step-up to the prem. I agree that Christie is playing a lot better in our latter games because he must take his chance now he is so long on the bench. Christie must learn to deal with the trickier and clever forwards who will roll him silly each time he comes up against them. Fair enough, if we stay in the Championships Christie might cope with the best of them 7 times out of a 10? The Problem with christie is that he most certainly will need to bring his 'A' game to the table every match. Most half-decent players who are benched for so many games will bring it to the table but most certainly will revert back to type and thats Cyrus Christie in a nut-shell. I disagree DMK' Steve Sessegnon is poor and there is nothing special about him like his Brother. Steve Sess will never make a right-back, not a decent one anyway. Dennis Odoi is still our best option as a utility player and i think we are lucky to have him. Odoi can be a touch calamity because of his over exuberance but we can forgive him for that. Fulham fans should remember the special things that Odoi brings to the table for Fulham like the goal against Derby to make the play-offs. I agree that Odoi like Berbatov is sporadic and he does not do the good things enough ut he has a touch of class about him. Odoi can roll an opponent and make inroads towards goal and pick a pass which he has done in games, and i am still in awe of him for that ball of the back against Newcastle in our great victory so long ago now. Christie will need more improvement still if he to leave Fulham fans with memorable moments like Odoi has done. The jury is still out for me concerning Scott Parker. Give us a promotion like Slavisa did and then we can assess Parker. Slavisa didn't keep us in the prem, but howe of Bournemouth did not first time around. Howe got another chance through loyal Bournmouth people. Arizonan will probabely be on my case for putting him to sleep for my long post, so i will put an end to my 'er' manuscript now...
posted by OWEN (Guest) - Friday 22nd May 2020, 7:51 PM

Take your point with Christie Owen not good enough for prem but Parker improved him Odio makes mistakes never hides always gives 100 percent every club needs one, as for Berbatove lazy only thinks of himself one of main reasons we went down bad signing Cody’s ok could be good but is a right back swaps to left back with Fossey so both get a game but they don’t really look happy there but does them good. Hope Fossey still makes it been very unlucky with injury’s

Watching Fulham from the wooden seats in the Johnny Haynes stand. Going to 'The Flag' to watch live stream of Fulham away from time to time. Steak pie, not the Cottage pie, on match day.

Agreed Baz sitting in the Johnny Haynes stand is special like sitting in a piece of West London history. I miss standing up in the enclosure wandering around meeting old faces and listening to the banter.

I used to go to the enclosure for nearly all the games but have sat further back on the wooden seats since the plastic seats were built in the enclosure. From time to time I have tried every part of the ground including the Putney end just to see. I've never been in a box though.

My season ticket is situated roughly where I used to stand with my kids (now in their 30's) in the enclosure and I miss both.

The guy that its next to me has sat there since those seats were built and he stood next to me in the enclosure before that. We've spoken thousands of times but I only found out his name the season before last and now although we keep in touch via e-mail, I miss his company.

I used to stand initially in the Putney end in the 60’s. There was this mad Italian in a pork pie hat, who whenever we crossed the half way line would shout “ shoot !!” at the top of his voice. As far as I can recall, he never said anything else. Don’t get me started about the blke with the trumpet.....

Also, I knew when gentrification had finally hit the Cottage when I eventually progressed ( via a period in the enclosure ) to the Hammersmith end and the bloke next to me accompanied by a shooting stick would shout “ come along now chaps, rally!! “ whenever we were under pressure.

Dont rate being in a box baz, to quiet, cant stand the haynes stand , never know how it passes fire risk, the depth of the steps to climb up or down is just absurd.OH for the days of standing at putney end just seeing over the cross bar, the smell of old holborn, and the joy of walking home sodding soaked to the skin and and having to tell people the result when asked that we lost , again!!.

Keetch54 thank you for your post. I can confirm that the man shouting ‘come along chaps rally’ was my dad Paul Arend. He loved to use that phrase to make people laugh. Such a gentleman and very witty. I would have been sat the other side. Dad used to get very passionate when watching our beloved Fulham I’m sure you may have recieved the odd shoulder barge where he used to act every players movement. I have so many amazing memories at the cottage ive watched from every part of the ground. My favourite standing in the the Hammersmith end. Even used to regularly sit next to the dug out as my grandpa was in his wheelchair. Sadly dad passed away 3 years ago after a long battle with cancer. The last game he watched at the cottage was a 5 nil win. He made it to Hamburg to watch the final which Dad was so proud of. And I’m sure he was looking over us at Wembley

In recent years I had progressed to block W of the Riverside stand within touching distance of the Director’s box. There was a legendary character called Abraham who was more affectionately known as the ‘bubble’ as everyone assumed he was Greek. I lost count of the times he was warned about his behaviour which could include ( at the top of his voice ) “ Sit down Ferguson you poof ! “ “ hooligans! Bloody hooligans! “and general berating at maybe 10/15 feet distance to the oppositions Directors for which the club tried to remove his season ticket prompting some of us to contact the club and appeal on his behalf. His grandson told us he had passed away in the close season in his 80’s , of a heart attack and apparently his last comment to the paramedics as they wheeled him out of his house was “ I hope you lot know what you are doing”. A great bloke, much missed, and Fulham through and through.

As you know I also have a season ticket at Brighton, and yesterday I received the money from the club, returning the cost of the season ticket for the games that had been left for this season. I do hope that both the Premier League and the Championship will finish the season, by playing the games in June and July, even if we miss out on promotion. I have been watching some of the German games in empty stadiums, and although it was weird at first, I got used to it, and if you do concentrate on the games, the missing crowd was not such a big problem for me. Let's face it, if that's the only way we will have to finish the season, then so be it. Hopefully next season, will start off as normal, with us all back at CC.

Of the same opinion AC. I watched a couple of the games at the weekend, and at first it was a bit weird but after a while got used to it. You do find that you are more focused on the game itself quite simply because the cameras have nothing else to film!! If we go down the same route, you dare not leave the room because there is no crowd noise to indicate anything has happened

Would be nice to get some money back but it’s not the clubs fault. We have wealthy owners and so will likely be lucky enough to see some Money returned. However if my money can help the club survive these times, I don’t mind them keeping it. Maybe we can get additional perks next season instead.

If these few weeks have been difficult going forward can’t really say I’m that interested in watching football in empty stadiums maybe different if it’s your team, imagine watching a play off match without fans not the same. So miss the whole experience of meeting up with friends having a few drinks moaning about tactics or performances of certain players, then getting grief of her indoors for staying out.

With nine games still to play. thats 27 points. There is a possiblity that none of the top three will get promotion. True we have an advantage over most, but those points still have to be won.

Suddenly our board has become far too personal and whilst I have certain prejudices I try not to express them unless I am deliberately goaded. However, I believe a number of posters have crossed the line and it is time to say "enough is enough". Let us all try to be more considerate to others and remember we all love Fulham FC even those posters cannot attend matches. Yes it is good to have an open forum but try to think before you post as once written or spoken it cannot be undone. May we soon return to normal although, at present, it may not be in the near future. So I say to everyone take care and look after yourselves one and all

Bigboy. Well said indeed. Pity then that you also wrote -"Arizonan, I agree totally with your post although, as yet, I have not read the joke to which you refer. Unfortunately, it appears minority groups have taken over, especially in England, and we are all expected to admire them. Personally, I don't but I suppose there are entitled to do as they like so long as it does not affect me. However, I object to local councils using my money to support and subsidise "Gay Pride Marches", LGTG and many other groups. There was a "Gay Pride March" in our borough and when I asked the Council if they had used Council Tax Money to subsidise it I was informed a £25,000 contribution had been made. In addition, the cost of providing police to escort the march, road closures and considerable inconvenience to the general public must have also added to the cost. I wonder if Councils would be prepared to support an heterosexual march? I think not. The big London Pride March, which is given considerable television coverage on news reports most cost tax payers thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, and the sight of them all prancing around disgusts me. Sometimes I wonder if us normal people are the minority. Well posted Ari."

But until the moderators step up, enough will never be enough’. We will continue having arguments about something which is clearly not appropriate on this site. Hi Fulham fans, I don't post on here very often, but reading the last dozen or more texts, no wonder the world is in such a state. If a few people on a web site can't be reasonable then the site has NO future. It's a football/ Fulham site. Not speakers corner, if any of you know what or where that is. Yes we are all frustrated with no football / situation, but please stop this bloody arguments it's not constructive.
Replies
Manxman. It's a nice idea but it won't work. The only thing that we all have in common is a love of Fulham FC and even when a post is about football there are huge differences of opinion. There are people on this board who, judging from their posts, I would hate on sight. I am positive that some of them would say the same about me. I think we should all take the view that if a post offends us, or doesn't meet our idea of what is appropriate for a football messageboard, either ignore it or put a counter argument. If one person wishes to ignore, wait for a new thread and don't get upset if someone else wishes to challenge.

Darren. But unfair to O David I think. His problem was with The Arizonan, not the jokes posted on Friday. The only one who objected to the jokes was The Arizonan and that seems to be only because there were no gay jokes.

AB. I don't believe because religion was man's way of explaining things that are now explained by science. I accept that an all powerful being would be able to "creat" science as a misdirection and a test. I also believe that if God exists and allows the suffering that occurs then he doesn't love his children and is not worthy of our love or respect.

Broadsmore. You are spot on. There was no issue on here until Arizonians hate filled rant which is why I got involved. Seems people On here see only what they want to see. No issue with the jokes, I even join in from time to time, just hate the unnecessary desire to Be vile. @imp - I was david is until someone else started posting as David. I was ashamed a year ago. But that’s it. Crazy to think I am not alone in my beliefs. I do not beleive in Christ and I am not religious but that doesn’t mean I ridicule those who beleive in god. Weird how offended people have been getting though, double standards really.

Why is it that you're all comfortable with making jokes about the crucifiction of Jesus Christ, mocking blacks and grinning at Saudis (just from this weeks joke selection) but are truly scared and fearful of making any reference, joke or otherwise, to the LGBT warriors? Are they some sort of protected community? "You can nail up Jesus mate but don't you dare poke fun at gays"! Where and when did your collective manhood get so demeaned? Are you that cowed by the pantomime dames on this site that you no longer condemn the crass, object to the vitriol, or decry the ignorant? Well, are you? While you, the silent majority, tiptoe around on eggshells in fear of giving offense to lesbians, gays, bi-sexuals, transvestites and the aptly named queers, you're quite happy to joke about and demean other minorities, to the point of crucifiction. You have absolutely no notion of how you're being used as convienient fools, to the detriment of your standing as normally functioning members of the human race. Castrati indeed. The skewed moral stasis on this site is an absolute disgrace and those of you who avert your eyes to what's going on should take heed of Martin Niemoller's words. Don't believe what I'm saying? Go on then, be brave and post a gay joke. You won't though will you? Sadly you wont. I'm ashamed of all of you.

Agree with Map that offensive is, to a certain extent, objective. My point is that jokes based on mishearing an accent are common. There are jokes about the many regional UK accents that would not be considered offensive. The camel joke is a play on words and is not an anti Arab joke.

Arizonan, I agree totally with your post although, as yet, I have not read the joke to which you refer. Well posted Ari.

Arizonan. I have addressed the original post. You made reference to three jokes from yesterday and the LGBT community. My posts responded to all these points but if you really are that stupid I will recap. Jokes about accents are generally not seen as offensive. The Saudi joke was not actually about Saudi's/Arabs as such. Now the controversal bit. LGBT people are real and alive now. Jesus may or may not have existed but definitely was not the son of God because he doesn't exist. Have you got it now?

BigBoy, when you were on the phone to the Council, did you also voice your objection to money coming out of the same pot to fund policing at football matches? Thought not. Without that contribution the clubs would have to foot the whole bill and in turn ticket prices increase

Ari. You really are a horrible piece of work. You are ‘ashamed’ of people because they won’t discriminate against a minority group on a football site. You joke. I don’t get why it is so important to you to be a nasty little biggot on a Fulham sight? We come here for football, not the crusade of an angry old man. Why must you start a whole conversation thread around your rights to be a horrible little c’’t? Making jokes against peoples race, sexuality or gender can be offensive and as a football community who come here to feel part of the club, maybe this isn’t the place. I’m sure there are plenty of message boards for you to go and learn and tell jokes that would get you kicked out of the stadium on a match day… if you ever went, but you sit on a ranch in Arizona being a keyboard warrior, existing in a little southern bubble where you all still don white hoods and confederate flags. But facts aren’t important to you. I live near West Hollywood and have many gay friends workmates and associates. Even been to a couple pride parades with them. If I had them read your nonsense they would be disgusted with you. You would be the last person they would want defending them. Your arguments suck and are full of hyprocisy every single time i.e. defending the LGBT whilst stereotyping every US southerner negatively. They talk more crap to each other and tell worse jokes than anything on here. But in the end ( no pun intended ) the only gay joke they won’t tolerate is you.

There was a debate earlier about Facebook. I use it every now and then and dont really like to judge anyone who does or does not partake! But just read this from a Fulham fan who wrote the following to the club. Apologies for the long post and lack of sentence gaps as I am on my phone! Dear Sir/Madam, In these troubled times as a club we have lost; sadly; many supporters over the last few months. These were not just supporters, they were the life and soul upon which Fulham Football Club has been built throughout many years As and when the season starts or recommences behind closed doors, sadly there will be empty seats around the stadium. Many fans who have watched the team week in and week out will feel an emptiness as they look to their side or from the next row a solitary empty seat that has been filled for many a season by someone whose weekend was Fulham Football Club. No longer will there be the comradeship that brought many fans together, because sadly one of them is no longer present to enjoy the banter they loved so much. We will march onwards, because that is what they would have wanted and wished for. They leave behind them a legacy, a legacy that still breathes Fulham and will continue to do so. A legacy they have passed down to Sons and Daughters, to grandchildren and beyond. Fulham Football Club is not about race or religion or politics, It is about the away days and the anticipation on a Saturday afternoon when we all come together, united in one belief only, that of Black and White. When we finally return to watch the team, maybe we can have a minutes silence for those empty chairs around the stadium and salute those who gave their all for this magnificent club. Maybe pass this on to the players and management so that they may realise what Fulham Football Club meant to those unable to watch their team anymore. Thank You

It’s a nice piece possibly written by somebody directly effected, but Geezer is obviously quite correct with his comment. There is another club (thought it was Burnley) regularly pay tribute to fans lost over a specific period with photos on the big screen & applause, indicating ‘one club, one family’, which is quite a nice touch, although some would probably say that the minutes applause is starting to be over used, and that an entry in the match day programme is quite sufficient

As CoJ's apprentice, I shall kick off the Friday joke round-up. Hope this gets past the PC scrutiny, but if you are not happy MST just bin it......A Jamaican man was recently employed in a butchers. One of his jobs that night was to prepare bacon sandwiches for the next morning but he ended up wasted on a 6 pack of beer and when he sampled the bacon he found it to be too delicious and ended up scoffing the whole lot. In the morning when the owner asked to try a sandwich, the guy panicked and went into the back, crushed up the now empty 6 pack and placed it between 2 slices of bread. The manager takes a bite and immediately spits it out, "What the hell is this supposed to be?" The Jamaican guy responds, "It's a beer-can sandwich, man."

A man was sitting quietly watching TV when his wife crept up behind him and whacked on the head with a magazine.
“Oi, what was that for?”
“That was for the piece of paper I found in your trousers with the name Laura Lou written on it”.
“Laura Lou is the name of the horse I backed two weeks ago and won, don’t you remember me coming home and giving you flowers and chocolates?”
“Oh darling, I am so sorry she said, “I should have known there was an innocent explanation”.
Three days later she creeps up behind him again and whacks him across the head with the frying pan.
“Oi, what was that for?”
“That was your horse on the phone just now” was her response.

We need Mitrovic and he is obviously our main striker. Mitrovic isn't the most mobile so we need somebody with pace. We have Kamara and it is debatable on whether we keep him? Personally he needs to improve and i would 100% back him to improve. His pace when running at defenders is frightening and i hope he learns a bit more self-control when running at goal. Some nice touches from Kamara tells me that he can improve. I personally would go for another striker who can think differently from Mitrovic and i would keep an eye on Patrick Bamford from Leeds. Bamford isn't everyone's cup of tea yet he fits the profile of a striker that can fit in to our over-passing and over-thinking style of play. Not every Fulham fan will go with that point of view but Bamford at 26 and being likened to marmite would not cost a bomb. Get the posh-boy down here at the Cottage and we could add another dimension to our style. Mitrovic will be well chaperoned and we do need somebody different...

Not sure we could get bamford. Especially if Leeds go up. I would imagine Bobby Reid is the player you are looking for. Goes down to Parker tactics though. Would like to see him playing off mitro. Think he will only improve.

We already have Ready on board and it would be great to see him playing off Mitrovic. It would be even better if either Kabano or any of the others play off Mitro and any of this works. Goodness knows that so far, all the Parker tactics do not seem to click. Leeds are on a collision course when it comes to budget and player recruitment etc. Promotion is vital to Leeds in general. There are higher thought of players besides Bamford with Leeds. Bamford is likened to Marmite, love him or hate him. He could be surplus to requirements in the transfer merry-go-round. Bamford has never really settled down at any particular club whatsoever. Fulham always do okay with these wondering around types that have ability.

R=0 at less than one. In other words that each infected person does not spread it beyond less than one other person on average. Right now we are at a bout R=0.7 which, is just about acceptable.

I suggest you read the 50 page white paper produced by the government with clear and technical data from SAGE.

Right now England is in the situation whereby each infected person, on average passes the virus onto 0.7 other people. ergo, the R=0 number 0.7.

The aim is to keep that number reducing and for it never to climb above R=0 1.0 (common flu has an R=0 of 1.0) because at 1.5 and higher it becomes epidemic again.

Of course the number is higher in some communities than others but the same can be said about it being lower and of course, we all know that it is higher in nursing homes than the average BUT the average R=0 IS 0.7 with c136,000 people currently infected in the UK.

I suggest that you do a littel more investigation yourself confused as to become less confused ;0). I work in the PPE industry and work with this stuff every day of my working life. I am not an expert but I do not pay attention to rumour, paper speculation, BBC or ITN news, I read the facts ;0).

10 years ago at this moment in time I landed in Berlin on an Easyjet from Gatwick just escaping the Icelandic Volcano cloud. Picking up an Avis car to drive to Hamburg. Did a quick sightsee of the Brandenberg Gate and Costa coffee just behind it, which I did not spot in any 1945 film! Seven hours of autobahn and only just made the kick off! I am not going to explain how I got home apart from a German speeding fine and missed return flight. Eat heaps of German Wurst at the ground though! Oh! The memories!!
Replies
Nice memories. But, Berlin to Hamburg is only around 180 miles and it took ...7 hours?! If so it meant that you travelled 25 mph on autobahns were there is no speed limit but you say you got a speeding ticket. Urgent explanation required please.

Really wish I'd been there but due the ridiculous ticketing policy for the game I couldn't get a ticket (even though I had three season tickets at the time).

I complained to Sandra Coles who eventually came up with two tickets in different parts of the ground two days before the game. Unfortunately though, by that time the price of flights became prohibitive (over £1k on KLM each way) even taking Ryanair into Silkeborg and driving to Hamburg.

So I have two unused tickets to this day but had to watch the game on TV wgich was rfeally disappointing although, lump in the throat, memorable....

I had exactly the same problem. For some reason the club allowed each season ticket holder to buy six tickets each (6)!. Naturally these were snapped up immediately to appear on E Bay straight away meaning that many (most) season ticket holders couldn't get any. Despite having had a season ticket for years I couldn't get to the biggest game in the club's history.

Remember the game well. Even remember drinking a pint in the stand which I didn’t think was allowed. Turns out it wasn’t and I was drinking a non alcohol beer - found that out 6 years later. Had a great day in Hamburg. Met some great people and ate some great food. Exchanged chants with Atletico fans the whole way on the bus. It was after the game where everything fell apart. Couldn’t find the airport coach we paid for so got public transport. We were the only Fulham fans on the bus. Then we waited at the airport in a single file queue as they loaded up planes on a first come first served basis. There was only 2 buses shuttling 30k fans onto planes from the terminal. No water in the terminal (saw 2 people collapse): Landed at a different airport to our tickets. Got home at 7am the next day after travelling all night. It’s like they didn’t know a European cup final was being played in their city.

Our rivals Leeds are in a rather precarious position and their nerves are a teeny-weeny bit jangly concerning promotion. Their wage bill for staff, players, and Bielsa is reportedly huge and they need promotion this season apparently. Leeds nervous more than Fulhm? This is music to my ears and it simply be the most delightful time of the year if we could just pip em to the post and pinch that promotion spot. Simply most delightful is so Julie Andrews sprinkled with a spoonful of sugar. I don't know if Fulham fans would agree on raiding from the Leeds booty, i would consider Patrick Bamford as an alternative striker who will operate differently from Mitrovic. We need someone who can play with a bit more mobility in attack if that makes sense? Kabano, Kamara, and Knockheart are better at supplying from the wing areas and they can't be considered as strikers at this time. I am not saying they can't given time but we need more goals when we start back. A Viking raid up Leeds? We might as well grab Bielsa if Parker gets a stutter, and er' maybe we can nick their tea-lady all in for good measure. Sorry Leeds fans' hard times mean harsh cut-backs. Yorkshire pud without the meat and gravy is the next best...

OK, I accept that this might not be of much interest to many readers of a Fulham message board but hey, there’s not much going on. When the Protestant settlers came to the north of Ireland from Scotland they brought a lot of their own farming equipment with them and this included their own spades. These differed from the local spades by having the handle on the other side of the blade requiring the user to dig with the other foot. This became shorthand for distinguishing between the settlers and the indigenous farmers and by extension protestant from catholic. Much later it became corrupted to “kick with the other foot” which of course means nothing.

Don't agree that Northern Ireland will always be a part of the UK. A referendum has tom be held as part of the Anglo Irish Agreement and that will most likely lead to a United Ireland.

The Great in Great Britain means the largest part of.

Don't think so Beat or Noel and Tom. Great is short for The Greater British Isles meaning all the islands included in the land mass ie. Ireland, The Hebrides etc although not the Channel Islands probably because they are so close to France. The United Kingdom comprises England, Scotland, Wales and N.Ireland although they do seem to be less united these days...

Completely wrong Hints. Great Britain is the ninth largest island island in the world and includes England Wales and Scotland. Ireland is a totally separate island. Northern Ireland is a part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland which more or less tells you that the two are not the same.

Well I concede that's what Wikipedia says but Dai Watkins taught me very different. I have never heard the expression the United Kingdom of Britain and N.Ireland (which makes no geographical sense) before, it was either the UK or Great Britain. Don't know when/why that changed it so I'll stick with Dai.

Ha ha save your breath OB I really don't give a flying fcuk. I left the place 26 years ago and have no ambition to return, to live anyway, now. It WAS a Great place to live a few years ago, but from where I sit the Great has sadly been slowly diminished over the years by political correctness, self serving rent seekers and minority groups whose voices grow louder and louder as the man in the street becomes less and less engaged with what's happening to his country and the government become more and more flaccid. Fcuk me even the Jocks want out of it, that's when you know it's bad, when those rats start trying jump ship. It's more a,Sort of OK Britain, these days. You have a nice day now.. :)

Hints, what you wrote is what I said are you are correct, Tom and Old Bloke wrong. I looked up britannica.com. If anyone wants to argue look it up. I quote from britannica.com website. The British Isles is a group of of islands off the north west of Europe, the two main islands are Britain and Ireland but also include the Hebrides...(and it goes on) The greater means the larger part.

Those who don't think there will never be a United Ireland need to see the Ken Loach Film The Wind that shakes the Barley.

After all the recent gloom, doom and name calling (myself included) can we celebrate the anniversary of that day at Portsmouth and the best goal of Danny Murphy's career?
Replies
Danny described that header as the most important goal he ever scored. He said it secured Fulham’s Prem status. More importantly, many jobs at grass roots were retained. If we’d been relegated there would have been a considerable cull of staff. Good old Danny!
