I'm still worried what a couple of injuries might do as our club has one of the smallest team pools to chose from. I still think that the powers that be should invest in another right back and two centre halves, as our defence relies on basically only 7 players one or two injuries would leave the back line at risk. Forest on Saturday should be academic - a 2 - Nil win for Fulham but next Tuesday's game with Southampton will prove more interesting, playing a Premership side on the slide. We are certainly playing Saints at the right time. Bet they wish they hadn't sold Matt Target now don't you?
Replies
Expect Saturday to be our hardest so far !! Not bothered about teusday play squad players and a couple of youngsters saints won’t play senior players

rich;; I wouldn't be surprised if some key players are left out against the saints, as the league must take priority.as for targett, I wonder what he is presently thinking, because I know where I would rather be right now!

Targett is now at Villa, warming the subs bench. Two games in and he's yet to get on the pitch. At EFL level, I think Joe Bryan proving himself a very decent left back, so not sure how Targett would have fitted in.

Who's saying we have? People are simply relishing the fact that this was a top class display against Milwall and that in players like Cav, Arter, Sess, Mitro and Cairney we should all be rightfully excited about the prospects for the rest of the season. Agree?

spot on reply, Marbella. there has been too many false dawns in the past, but there is something about the present set up that fills a lot of us with at least a good measure of optimism.

Whisper it quietly, but I think we may finally have found a decent defensive unit. Bryan is becoming very dependable and linking well down the left side. Mawson, if he can avoid injury, its very solid - he saw off Matt Smyth on Wednesday. Ream not the quickest, but he's still got much to offer. And now there's Sessegnon who's looked very assured in the couple of games he's played. Folks are saying that Forest will be a stern test, but I don't buy it - they've hardly set the world alight this season.

Good old Harry Arter is a revelation at age 29 and still with a bit of lead in his pencil is doing a cracking job here at Fulham. Not many in-laws work well so close together and so may it continue. Cavaleiro rightly won the MOTM but i would like to give our captain Tom Cairney a special mention. Tom is growing into the pass-master of this division now and he can only get better and better. Did you see his over the top dinky pass for that 2nd goal? It was simply exquisite, perfecto! perfecto!!! Honestly, i think Tom Cairney is the new Pirlo and his value will go up and up, mark my words! Maybe it isn't fair to single out 1 Fulham player for special praise and in this team now, we have a strong bond and a unit that is close. Steady Alfie Mawson is looking very solid at the back and we are slowly losing the paranoia of our need for defenders now, especially with our improving young Steve Sessegnon at right-back. 'Sorry Cyrus Christie' Your future lies with 'er' Derby County' up the motorway! 'Ha Ha'!!! Seriously, we could all make a case for whoever in this Fulham team now. How did all this come together and who can claim the glory for knitting this team together outright? Tony Khan will probabely take a slice of this glory train but truthfully i say that along with Scotty and big Daddy Khan, us fans can give ourselves a pat on the back for our input also. If it wasn't for our moaning and groaning about our plight, things might have turned out differently. I would just like to see Kunye eat some humble pie now concerning Parker. I feel that Kunye is crying into his cornflakes waking up after our greatest victory and saying to himself, 'how can Scott Parker' have a stake in our record 100 million passes in a game??? Kunye' you must kneel to King Parker' and say' 'HAIL TO THE KING' our Scott Parker!!!!!!!
Replies
Tom Cairney No doubt he looks very comfortable in the championship clearly can’t cut it in the premier league (like most of our team!)not knocking the team I know it’s early days and this division is relentless would be surprised if we didn’t make top 6. Looking at our squad it’s probably the best squad in this division so much more exciting than the premier league anyone of 12/14 teams capable of winning it .

Good post Owen but -er not sure sure our moaning had much to do with the player input or our reservations over SP ( long may he reign) but good to see the optimism shown on this site.

According to Transfermarkt the 4 most expensive squads are Fulham (£128m), stoke, huddersfield and Leeds. However these 4 clubs also make the top two (almost) and the bottom two teams in the championship!! What it shows is expensive players do not equate to success (we should know as we found out the painful way last season). Likewise, we lost to the lowest valued squad (@7.8m) this season. Whilst the second bottom squad charlton are siting in a playoff position! All very strange. Who said football is predictable?? I know it’s still early days but generally if you are too at the stat, you will be there about at the end and likewise at the bottom! Statistically It doesn’t make sense..

Can someone put me straight if arguably our three better players are on loan presume where picking up there wages but no transfer fees then is that 128 mill the three loanees would be worth in the transfer market bearing in mind most of our incomings this season no fees paid

I haven't deleted anything, as I said I have just got on and will have to leave again soon. There has been complaints like this before. As best that I know there is only MST and myself as mods and Bernard (Admin). I don't get told anything but I wonder if maybe the site just 'loses' posts, (as in faulty). Why would anyone delete posts from happy supporters. When I got on I was a little surprised that there were not as many posts as I expected. I cannot help you more than this, we see the same page as you but have a delete button which is very near the post reply button, which is why I no longer 'mod' on my phone after an accidental delete.

So those dreadful Millwall supporters who were going to create all kind of mayhem stayed and clapped their team off the field- that folks says more about them than we thought. On tonight's showing, we are back to the Tigina days, and the football we played tonight, was amazing at times. The only trouble is, we have played four teams that are of the weaker brigade, so it will be interesting to see if we can keep up the same standard at home to Notts Forest ad away to Cardiff. If we come safely through those two matches, then I will really start to believe that we are in for a great season. it usually takes about 10 matches before teams settle down, so if we are still up there then, all should be well. What a big difference to last season however, and definitely no relegation worries this time around.

Weren't millwall unbeaten before yesterday. I'm sure all those people who were mistaken at the start of the season would like to take back what they said and now say well done Parker and the Khans. a good transfer window and a good side put together. A strong squad should give us a top season.

Wow! With over 30% attacking and 94% accuracy! I love Jokanovic but beat that! I think Millwall played the wrong game tonight- they were afraid to come out in the first half, and when they did the second half we punished them in 10mins then they retreated! But 1000 passes and 94% accuracy is quite cool against your rival.. well done lads!!

FulhamTv support suggested that when I was using Chrome it was blocking the cookies that were required and gave me a partial remedy. I say partial because it didn't work until I made another tweak but it pointed me in the right direction. " in the Chrome URL bar at the top, there is an icon on the right hand side that is a Cookie with a red cross next to it. Once this is set to Always allow..... please REFRESH the page and log in again." The extra tweak I needed was to click on “Show cookies…………….” and then the “ fulhampayments .streaming .com” cookie was showing as blocked. I unblocked it manually and the login now appears to be working properly. Hope this helps.

Fulham have to accept that Millwall have got off to an extremely good start in this new campaign. They are agressive, tactical and hard to beat. Do hope our Manager has taken this into consideration that our defences is up to the job of containing the hard to contain. How I wish we'd bought two new central defenders and a new right back of quality. My earlier comment about signing Julian Speroni was no criticsm of Betts - FFC fans read the text - I think any club challenging for Promotion ought to have cover for all positions, if that cover has a wealth of experience all the better. Why did Liverpool FC sign Andy Lonegan? For that very reason. My prediction Fulham 1 - Millwall Nil!

I have been a touch critical about our squad here and there, and so has a few of us for Fulham. We all love our Fulham and would like to win every game this season. Not possible or realistic to do that and maybe we need to calm down a bit or i do? Starting with Bettonelli tomorrow, he is a good keeper and he can improve loads yet, and in this league which is forgiving, there is plenty of time and opportunities. We do so like to play it around at the back and so far, there are not many teams who will do the jump on us and squeeze us just like they do back in the premiership. As the season progresses, the more clever and tactical teams will squeeze us and the battle will be a lot closer. There are mistakes in us and we will make them. In the mean-time, we entertain Millwall who's manager Neil Harris paid us a huge compliment in his summaries earlier on in a previous interview. Neils latest interview is all kidology and he has cannily suggested that the pressure is on Fulham. We know what to expect from Millwall and we must take this early season opportunity to take the 3 points and march on to Notts Forrest which will be a much tougher game, Forrest are just starting to tick over now with their last win. It is good to see Alfie Mawson ride a few tackles and get up fighting fit, i was a touch worried for him when he had that collision with Bettonelli. Put all those injuries behind him and he is instrumental in our defence. The shining star Steve Sess will grow in confidence after his MOTM and he will get better still. Maybe i am a touch too critical about our defence and goalkeeper? Maybe we can become a iron force and become an impregnable fortress? There is not enough time and space to go into every single detail about our midfield leading to our attack, and i so need to economise on my essays these days to the delight of Arizonan and a few other good fans who follow my blog. Win our next to home games will see our boys grow in confidence and the Southampton cup game is the one where Scotty can shuffle his deck of cards. Beat Cardiff away after is a 'i owe you one taffy' and the big tester for me is Slaven Bilic and West Brom!!! Scott Parker will have his biggest test of the season and all will be revealeth and i summerise that we hail in the new king Scott Parker and all the doubters will be convinced, or we cry foal and we look to the skies and weep for a leader once again. 'Which way is it gonna be Parker?' Scott Parker' show us what you are made of dude'!!! Starting from tomorrow night, bring us a win against Millwall!!!!!! To keep this short, 'COME ON YE FULHAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have at least two goal keepers that are good enough for the Championship, probably even three, but I am not saying that they would be good enough for the Premier League but we are not back there yet. Although we probably have the best team in the Championship, I don't know why, but I am feeling a bit apprehensive about tomorrow night's match against Millwall. Mind you if we can't beat the likes of Millwall, followed by Notts Forest, then we have no rights to be Championship favourites. COYW

After reading posts below on VAR and comments saying it's not used in the championship, i'm pretty sure it was used in our game against Huddersfield last Friday. When Huddersfield scored their goal i'm sure i saw the ref point to his watch indicating that he had been informed the ball had crossed the line and all players seemed to except his decision. I think VAR is used where clubs that have it,can use it. (clubs that have been relegated from the premiership for instance) Please tell me i'm wrong but i'm sure it was used for the Huddersfield goal. PS can't wait for tomorrows game. COYW
Replies
Bob I'm quite surprised that you thought that VAR gave the Huddersfield goal. No it wasn't, it was goal line technology. The reason the referee pointed to his watch, which was just to show that the ball being over the line was indicated on his watch. Every referee on both the Premier League and now the Championship carry these type of watches.

VAR at this stage is ruinous for the fans because it is slowing down the pace of the games and generally disrupting flow. The only people who love it are the Refs. The experts in this technology admit that it will take a decade to speed up and be fully accepted. The fact that VAR has been so readily accepted is a sympton of the malaise that hangs over this country when no one accepts any decision made f.ex: the result of the 2016 Referendum on this countries membership of the EU, that this country is shoulders over the vast majority in coping with climate change and that now our politicans of all shades have completely abandoned elections and believe like the Marxist leader of our Labour party that they can invite themselves to Buckingham Palace and merely take control of our government. Sadly too because so many were allowed to grow up without parental control they beleieve that here in the UK they can murder their own children, their own flesh and blood to get even with the parenters (used to be called wives)

It should not take Scott Parker very long as Fulham have one of the smallest pools of players from which to pick. Then we fans are told that this club is challenging for promotion to the BIG league. Seems like to me we signed just a couple of players on loan to sell season tickets.

On Saturday at the Amex, I experienced VAR live for the first time, and I can't say that I am impressed. When Trossard scored what looked like a perfectly good goal all of the Brighton fans were leaping up and down with excitement, and nobody, including me, and even the West Ham fans behind the goal had excepted it, and the referee awarded the goal, and then as the players lined up to KO there on the screen was a VAR query, and then it was a case of waiting with fingers crossed that the goal would stand, but of course it didn't, and nobody seemed to know why. There were various opinions, but it wasn't until I listened to my car radio on the way home, that I actually knew the truth. The decision of course was correct by a fraction, but these oh so narrow off side decision, is going to take all the excitement out of scoring a goal. Last season the referees decision was instant, whether right or wrong, but now we have to wait what seems like an eternity to see if the goal stands. Thank goodness we don't have it in the Championship.

Sad to say but yet another example of too much money in the top tiers of European (and in particular English) football. If these minor mistakes did not cost clubs millions of euros/pounds then there would be no need for VAR.

For the armchair fan, it probably adds to the excitement but if you are watching the game live it loses the atmosphere and ruins the spectacle in my opinion.

Unfortunately, it is here to stay and no amount of complaining about the thickness of a badge causing a player to be offside will make one iota of a difference :0(((

VAR I'm afraid, or those who run it, seem to be picking and choosing as what to overrule or not. Last night for example, when Pogba took, and missed his penalty, half of the Wolves team had encroached into the penalty are, and therefore the penalty should have been retaken, as was Manchester City's penalty against Wolves recently. VAR is supposed to stop this happening, but what was against the law, was completely ignored, If it is going to be used, then every major law infringement should be looked at when a goal is the result.
posted by Malden Mick (Guest) - Tuesday 20th August 2019, 9:36 AM

Agree with your argument re encroachment but personally I don’t think it was a pen. Pogba deliberately tripped over an outstretched leg and in my opinion that’s cheating.

VAR is in my opinion the most ridiculous idea ever conjured up by the idiots that are running/ruining our game. It may be just a business to these soulless freaks but for the people who still follow the game with a passion it remains a sport. The natural flow of the game is being sacrificed for the control freaks need to micro manage and eventually many of the true supporters that actually attend games will decide enough is enough. I can’t believe that the majority of fans are putting up with this nonsense. Time to get vocal, if the whole stadium throughout the league to a man were to drown out every ridiculous VAR moment with catcalls derogatory whistling and a barrage of industrial abuse the perpetrators of this crime against our game might just be forced into having a rethink. It would be great to see supporters of both sides come together against a common foe, this has been done before. Of course it will probably never happen, the sheep will continue to put up with any old bollocks because apparently that’s just the way it is and we have to put up with it. Time for the real supporters of the game to grow a pair.

Millwall was a well known doggin' site of the 1890's in South East London. Most Millwall fans can trace their family back to this wall near a mill where sailors use to queue up to visit the local 'ladies'. The 'ladies' used to sing 'Milllllllllwallllllll' to lure sailors to the wall so they could "unload" It's why most Millwall fans can trace the genes in their DNA back to the "ladies" at the 'mill wall'. This gene has now been named as the "twat" gene and 99% of todays Millwall have this.

The old den was the first ground I ever attended. We lived in south east London and my step-father was an avid Millwall fan. When I went to the secondary school, most of my mates were Charlton fans, so I became one too until we moved out of the area. When the docks in East London closed down, many of the dockers were relocated to new council flats being built in Deptford and New Cross. They mostly became Millwall fans and built up a reputation as hard men. The current fans are just pussycats compared to them.

That Fulham Supporter Keith Castle became the first recipient of a heart at Papworth Hospital Sadly now no longer with us, but not forgotten and at least this season we seem to have a team that is costing less heart attacks week in week out. And the Championship with so many more games I believe is a harder league to complete in. Notice the impact that Oliver Norwood is having with Sheffield United - had we kept our Championship winning team together I now think that we would not have been relegated last season! What about signing Julian Speroni, he's a free agent after being released by C Palace where he spent 14 years, so would cost no fee and we do need back up for Marus Bettintelli. If Andy Loergon can be of use to Liverpool FC, surely Speroni would be an excellent back up for us?

Nothing wrong with Bettonelli in this league, but he must improve. For starters, Bettonelli could use his area more efficiently and more quickly? An accurate throw-out to one of ours instead of dwelling on the ball would be an improvement. A lot of kick-outs from Betts are usually under pressure, just my thoughts on him, i might be a bit picky? Top keepers like Van Dar Sar throw the ball out intelligently and Betts could add to his repertoire. Apart from that detail, it is onwards and upwards, our team is looking decent.Hopefully, our defence stands up to a physical encounter tomorrow night. Dare i say his name, no point, but it will be very interesting to see what team Scotty puts out to anticipate a physical kind of game. Millwall will come with a lot of set-pieces and corners thrown at us, so our defence will get a proper test tomorrow night for sure...

A couple of results have surprised me today I must say, and one was Cardiff losing 3-0 to Reading, which I thought would be a comfortable win for Cardiff, and the other was Sheffield United beating Palace. It was only a year ago, that we played Palace at home for our first game at CC, and lost 0-2. It just proves, that Sheffield United have done the right thing in sticking to more or less the side that got them promotion. The same applies to Norwich City. The only one of the promoted teams to go out and spend a fortune on new players was Villa, and they are the only one of the three that have yet to pick up a point. Sounds familiar ?

Cannot say I am looking forward to Wednesday night against Millwall, as an old git whose fighting days finished with Sonny Liston,I think the stewarding and police presence,if the Blackburn game is anything to go by, is woefully thin. This game is one where the fans should be separated, not using the same bars and facilities, and with the Millwall fans being kept in, until the stadium is cleared. This present situation is an accident waiting to happen.

Worried after 1st game with lack of pace and commitment, the management then decided to bring 3 new players in their usual style, expecting Parker to fit them with existing players. However Arter has been a revelation. We have found a right back in the younger of the twins, which hopefully will leave Odoi covering all four defensive posistions. The midfield now has cover with Reed and the ex Spurs player without Mcdonald. The attack also now has support with Decorva-Reid able to cover posistions without using Kamara. Parker is adopting Jokanovic's style of defence retaining possession allowing the midfield to dictate play. The pace of the two wide boys will ensure opposistion defenders cannot push upfield as much and should give us more pitch space. Very impressed with the boys at Huddersfield, controlled large parts of the game and should have won easily. Only downside for me that Kamara is still at the club, Ayite and Kebano are footballers that could fit into this system. Not giving the ball away as he does. Hope he leaves the club for pastures new. I think, although a little light on defensive cover Fulham can finish in top two. Mitrovic and Mawson remaining free of injury important as cover is limited in these posistions.

The only downside Kamara still at Fulham? Get a grip Denny' Kamara has a decent record in cup matches, wheres the problem? We can't play Mitrovic and knockheart in every single game and there are bound to be injuries. It is not only me rates Kamara, our Chairman say's that he stays first. You will need to run it by him first. Kamara cost Fulham or robbed Fulham depending on which way you look at it '1 penalty. Joe Bryan and maybe half the team cost Fulham the prem and millions, they still get chances. Look up the stats for kamara in cup matches? Just saying, stats don't lie...

Actually stats can say anything you want them to say..lies, damn lies etc etc. And I’m not sure that the chairmans support for a players attributes is any sort of ringing endorsement either!

Sorry Owen he seems such a disruptive influence when he plays, control awful, crossed one ball out for a throw against Barnsley. He just does not have the basic knowledge of where to be on a football pitch. Of course the management want to verify their purchase will come good. Two games, two wins without him. He appears to be better suited to Rugby. Lets hope there is no place during league matches for him even with support of the powers that be.

You may be right Denny' we can do without Kamara. I do like the look of Bobby Reid who came on late, he looks very good. Aite and Kabano might be good in a crisis if we get injuries. We have a really good squad now and looking forward to Millwall. Millwall manager has stated that we have the best quality squad in the division, that is a great compliment before we even kick a ball against them.

Great to see Ream supreme again.
It has taken him a while to settle with a new partner at the back but slowly but surely he is combining well with Alfie Mawson.
Superb performance by Stephen Sessegnon, problem is if he keeps that level up he will get snapped up by a premier club in no time.

We just need a good centre forward now and we will be flying!

Hasn't young Steven Sessingnon just signed a new 5 year contract, so he ain't going anywhere for a few seasons yet, and I have a feeling that he loves playing for Fulham, than his brother did.

Better everyone plays crap in case they get snapped up. Good tactic St George, ever thought of management? Must confess that performance by SS completely took me by surprise, looks like he’s stepped up a level. Long may it last. Think you’re being a bit harsh on Ryan Seesingnon, but perhaps you would turn down promotion or a better paid job Mick. Admire you loyalty and values:)

After all the moaning over the summer about our defence, they aren’t doing that bad are they? Let’s see how they bed down . It may also be that we now have defensive midfield players to shield them.

Think that’s exactly the point, combination of Arter and Stephan breaking up play takes the pressure of the defence. Bit like Etuhu in the past. Think Knocker and Cav also contribute in that area. Definitely a setup that gives more confidence.

No Mortlake, not suggesting anyone in the team plays badly incase they get snapped up by a bigger club, you stupid Boy!.. Just stating fact, he will get signed up up without doubt. But in the meantime let's enjoy his contribution.

st George: why do we need a new centre forward? hasn't mitro scored twice already?. if things are not going well, we have bobby reid to change it. the one thing that is needed is an extra centre back, hopefully in January. in the meantime, ream and mawson both look really fit, lets hope it stays that way!.

I gave our performance 6 1/2 out of 10, and that leaves us loads of room for improvements. Before the start of the season, i put Leeds on the top of the heap and Fulham a close 2nd. Leeds are the ones to hunt down in my opinion and we Fulham are not even close enough yet, we have work to do to match them. West Brom are a big threat and they look like they could snatch 2nd spot and that would put Fulham in the dreaded play-off spot once again. I don't know about you guys' i would rather not go through another play-off situation this time around. We have a great attacking and improving squad of players, but we are still vulnerable in defence. Our vulnerability is nothing new and maybe we should just accept this situation and just play to our strengths? With flank players like Knockheart and Cavaleiro, and the back up with the likes of Bobby Reid etc, we are a potent force going forward. We can improve loads yet, and hopefully, we can up our performances and get nearer to our table toppers Leeds. Wouldn't it be nice to gain an automatic spot to the prem this time around? That would be dreamland for me...

68% possession, 2 goals (one brilliant strike from Cav), Sess played a blinder, we got an away win, we played with confidence, Mitro won the Oscar for best supporting actor, and, we are near top of the table - so 6 1/2 out of 10 seems a mite miserly Owen.

Barnsley, Blackburn and Huddersfield all played well against us and we have 2 out of 3 wins so cant complain so far. Huddersfield manager sacking a bit harsh, I thought their players out on the pitch gave their all but we just had a bit more class in final third. Didnt Sess do well!!!

According to the table after three matches, we are in seventh position. Just one point behind the Leaders Leeds. This shows how tight this division is, and how important goal difference will be.

Knew we would beat Huddersfield and surprised that it took until the second half to nail them There Manager was there to watch his side for the last time, so I guess that they had a bit of an extra bit. Listened to BBC Radio 5 Live all afternoon, glad to hear that they were impressed with Dan Burn playing for Brighton and Cawley Woodrow playing for Barnsley, cannot dwell on the ones we allowed to go only those we have today. Glad Aleksanda Mitrovic scored again today as its important for us he gets back into the habit.

When we hear of ex players doing well. That is good. When they left they didn't fit into our team. Another example is Ollie Norward, who we could have signed, but he wasn't considered good enough for us or Brighton.. It's good to see him doing well in the Premier league with Sheffield United.

We are nicely positioned and we haven’t yet seen the best of our players! Mitro, while scored two goals, not quite bossing the defenders yet. Cavaleiro scores a great goal but not get got into second gear running at players. Knockaert on the other hand doing great runs but still to get his goals Sess is a great potential and could do another Sessegnon this season. Cairney playing we’ll and can play much better. We have yet to get Reid and Reed into the team! If Parker can get everyone to play to their potential and get the team to gel - we will be awesome in this division!! Coy

After a shocking and frustrating time in the premier league it feels so good being out of it and back to winning. Well done Mitro for scoring in both games. We’re now playing as a team, having sent useless Anguissa and co out on loan and no longer have that depressing journey home after being battered by the likes of Man City and co. Aston Villa who denied when questioned they were doing ‘a Fulham’ when they signed twelve new players are losing again 2-0 down against Bournemouth at half time. Welcome to the premier league lads. Enjoy!

The way he bought the ball down between 2 defenders for the second goal was class. That and being strong in the air worth more than speed in this league. Especially if that speed comes with Kamara's touch...

George am presuming your surname is Kamara, wouldn’t make any sense otherwise. Len, 100% agree, He’s looking much leaner and fitter, was still covering the ground in the last quarter of the game. In the past he’s looked knackered after 70/75 mins, so looking good for the season. Thought the theatrics were a disgrace, can do without that down the Cottage. Won’t excuse him another such transgression, which would be a great pity. Should have been booked.
