This decision is going be a difficult one and one we need to get right. We also cannot be in a situation of taking too long to find a manager like Palace and spurs because new manager will need the time to prepare the team for next season. Eddie Howe would be a good choice my only concerns are he was bournemouth through and through and why does fulham become more attractive than celtic. Javier Periera would not be a bad choice been part of two promotions with fulham and knows the players only downside not managed in championship. Steve Cooper could be a good choice done wonders with Swansea with no money to brink of promotion to premier league brings youth players through but Fulham is difficult kettle of fish and more pressure. Valeren ismael not a good fit for us plays long ball football. Carlos Carvalhal is a good shout as well but sticky point is paying compensation to braga. Frank lampard not sure about either. Whoever we pick give them a chance even Steve Cooper.

If we have to make a change, get Eddie Howe now. I doubt there are many Fulham supporters who would be delighted with Cooper. As mentioned in comments below Swansea fans would be delighted to get rid of him.

I did not take much interest in the Championship last season but I am under the impression that Swansea were dirty. I want my club to play forward and have a go but I do not like the idea of Fulham being a 'dirty' club. Maybe we could put in conditions that we do not adopt that style. I wonder if Roy would like to take a back seat roll, esp the defence.

Eddie Howe would be a good choice, but I think he must be holding out for a job with a big club in the Premier League. He’s paid his dues at Bournemouth. It's unlikely he would think of Fulham. I'm sorry the loan players, particularly the defenders, didn't keep us up this season and they presumably will return to their parent clubs. But don't we have a whole defence still sitting on the bench that was good enough for the Championship the year before last? I don't see any PL club coming in to pick up any class players that might not want to drop down next season. I'm not sure why there isn't a good squad there for an incoming manager to pick up.

It seems remarkable that so many believe we are now immune from COVID. This awful disease is not going away anytime soon if we don’t take difficult decisions now. That includes securing borders and continuing social distancing measures. It does not include opening up football stadiums to full capacity. Let’s be very clear vaccinations are helpful but there still remains serious doubt on their effectiveness against variants and the longevity of protection. The fact some one is double jabbed gives them immunity is ridiculously unwise and will be a recipe for disaster. Turning this to Fulham if the Riverside Stand is not reopened next season it will mean season ticket holders herded together in the remaining stands without social distancing, this is not reasonable. Add, to this the need to travel to and from the stadium on public transport and you begin to build an unhealthy picture. The club need to recognise this and offer season ticket holders a more thoughtful package of benefits should they not be able to attend matches for valid, legal and sensible reasons. It seems the package has been rushed through with little thought to what is actually happening within our society at this very moment. COVID is surging and the next two weeks are going to be awful. It will be followed by an equally grim winter. We need to hold steady now for another 8 months to let the rest of world catch up and to understand the disease better before letting go, for heaven’s sake pregnant women are understandably not getting vaccinations because the vaccinations have not been tested properly for them, so now is not the time let go. Unfortunately, we are going to get things wrong again and we will all be pondering why we were so stupid, it is not the benefit of hindsight that is needed but instead strong prevention measures remain intact.

You are wrong in many ways. The economy and people’s jobs require an end to this crazy situation. People need to mix to build up herd immunity which will make this virus no worse than flu. Politicians talk about following the science. Science is about opinions and many scientists have different ones. Being locked down does not solve problems it causes them with depression and a lot of off shoot problems. This disease is not going away in 8 months time it is here for life and we have to live with it. I can but can you?

VOR - Totally agree with you. I had the same 2 seats in block W row Q in the Riverside from the early 80’s. Then on demolition was shunted into the Putney end and will nor renew until covid is brought more under control, not least of which till the kids ( who now seem to be the main agent for transition ) are double vaccd. The combination of the view from the Putney end, and the general proximity of the crowd means that I will miss at least a whole season for the first time since 1961/62. A sad prospect, but I simply wouldn’t feel comfortable .

Andy you are wrong and a reason we won’t get out of this pandemic sooner. If you had the intellect to understand, I had not stated we don’t need to open up the economy (which by the way is opened up and doing very nicely in most industries) I said for many reasons we need to secure borders and keep social distancing measures until we know more about the virus and for the world to catch up. Only 6 percent of Africa has been vaccinated for example.

VOR - I sent them an email this week and was called seperately by two people who were only there to assist anybody renewing. I remember when the Riverside was demolished that those of us who had a track record of annual renewals would be offered a similar place in the new stand, and sought confirmation that ‘breaking’ the cycle by having a years sabbatical wouldn’t count against. All I got was tickets in and around where I sat opposite the halfway line would be deemed ‘premium’ and would be adjacent to the new hospitality seats. In other words no crumb of comfort whatsoever. You can see what’s coming , all out for the prawn sandwich brigade, and the rest of us can go whistle.

Have you actually looked at the daily deaths and hospital admissions!? God I despair at the way this Country has turned into a pathetic scared entity. What next, take all the cars off the road? I mean, thousands are killed in RTCs. At some stage we will find out just how many people have died because they have been denied treatment for curable cancers, heart conditions etc. When I think of my late parents going through what they did in London during the war, without moaning or seeking praise; and just look at us now. Thankfully this disease kills the old, and even then the average death age due to Coronavirus is over 82; in fact older than the normal life span. Let’s get back to normal and take what comes.

Totally agree Jegs. The government ran, and keeps on running, a totally irresponsible scare campaign on this issue which would make a communist dictatorship proud. The trouble is that it has worked so well that a large minority has succumbed to abject timidity and are now scared of their own shadow. The hospitality, travel and aviation industries are on their knees, cancers, heart disease and many other conditions are going untreated, and overall mental health is declining, yet people still want to hide behind the sofa. Covid is way down the list of causes of death now. Vaccines are winning the battle. As a nation we need to grow a backbone and get on with life, and I for one will be taking my seat and cheering the team on next season. Rant over!

My son is a doctor at one of London's major hospitals, and he was telling me only last week, that there are hardly any beds taken up with Covid 19 patients, and the disease has dropped off rapidly. Most of, but not all, patients in hospitals, are from people in their own choices, have not taken up the vaccines, and it is their faults that they have caught the virus. What they don't tell you is how many are coming out of hospitals daily. The doom and gloom people are making the headlines, and the others with are most honest opinion on the virus, are being ignored. A couple of my neighbours are refusing to have the vaccine. They are in their late 70's, and despite my pleading that say, that they are not going to have some foreign chemicals put into their bodies, and we will all pay for it later. I have never heard of so much rubbish, but this is these are the type of people we have to try and persuade to do the right thing. Thank goodness the younger element are now getting the message, and life we hope will return to near normal on July 19th.

Oh I suppose you would prefer it kills the young then like the Spanish Flu in 1918. Well I’m 71 and I’m glad I am more at risk than my children and grandchildren so I’m not apologising for that. I have carried on seeing my kids and grandkids all through this pandemic and hugging them; and I made it clear from the start that if I caught it through them that was down to me not them. What is the point of being old, having had a good life and then just locking oneself away just to survive. And if I had caught it badly I would have been quite happy to be given a shot of morphine to see me on my way rather than take up a ventilator. It seems so many old people are just frightened of their own mortality; well, I’m sorry nobody particularly wants to but we are going to die at sometime so you might as well get used to the idea

Unfortunately there are too many thick people in our society who just don’t listen or see the broad picture. The clever thinking is not saying we don’t have to live with the disease because we do. Timing is everything, knowledge is everything, securing borders is everything, protecting resources is everything. Vaccines do not make us immune. If we lose sight of this and social distancing measures at this time we lose everything and new variants will again create havoc and the collateral damage to the NHS will burden us all young and old. And yes have a thought for those in our society who for valid reasons are not vaccinated like pregnant woman. Don’t be so selfish some of you

The thing is making all these quotes about how many die from other problems dont wash, because they happen staggered , covid fills up beds and ward super fast, it stretches medical staff to there limits, road accidents for one do not fill beds over night they are spread over a year,so breaking down the figures of say 2000 in a year comparison to 150,000 in eighteen months dying of covid ,whole different set of problems ,just a thought .

I suspect Eddie Howe would be up for the job if offered. Handily living near Christchurch. Easy drive to the office each day up and down the A3/M3. Does not have the upheaval of moving family and living on the hoof! I think he would be the ideal fit.

If Cooper plays the right way and can develop the talented young players we have, maybe he would be the right fit. But there are questions as to whether he can get a team over the line. I go back to the point I made last week- I think the key is to find a manager who will stay for 5 years and will see a plan through. Cooper is not Fulham through and through and seems fickle.

Even the Swansea fans want Cooper gone so that tells you everything you need to know. He would be an awful replacement for Parker. The only viable option for replacing Parker would be Howe. So, once again for all the Parker haters, be very careful what you wish for.

Please, Mr Khan, think seriously before you make our next Manager/Coach appointment, and please, please do not ask Steve Cooper fit that bill. First we just have a feeling that he would not be made too welcome by us supporters, and right or wrong, the majority opinion is that Eddie Howe on the other hand would be most welcome. Yes Steve Cooper guided a pretty poor Swansea outfit to the play offs last season. which was an achievement, but it was a pretty poor division, which is proved with Brentford being promoted. Eddie Howe, although he was in charge at Bournemouth when they were relegated seems to be more of a Fulham man, and he has been experienced in the Championship, and encourages his teams to play very good football, which we all enjoy at Craven Cottage, even if doesn't mean promotion next season. With the Khan's backing, and more financial clout, I am sure sure that EH, would be a very successful Manager in the long run here.

Can't see how Parker can stay on now. Or be allowed to stay. How have Bournmouth got away with this. They have virtually offered him the job when he is contracted to us. Thank heavens and a dream come true for me to see the back of him but there are rules. It's gone too far now for him to stay as our manager. 2 years gardening leave will be the end of his career. No personality so can't see him as a tv pundit.

Should have added I knew Peter Reids brother and worked with him. When he was sacked from Sunderland they never reached a settlement and he was on gardening leave for the remainder of his contract. If he took another job Sunderland could and would have stopped paying him. Kiss of death for Scotty. Can't see him being a top manager anyway. I thought when we beat Liverpool I was all wrong about him and I felt we would stay up. Cometh the man as they say and he failed miserably with a set of players that really seemed up for it. Nearly all of those player linked with Premier clubs now except good old Cav who Parker deemed not good enough in the championship. Depending on who the new manager is we may well have seen the last of Cav

Unless we get lucky with someone like Lampard gonna end up getting a foreign money grabbing mercenary. Think the bigger problem is getting our owner to delegate the right people to purchase any future signings,he’s son made a pigs ear once he got involved but very tricky if your father runs the show.

Parker could be sorted next week. Once which type of compensation can be agreed between all parties. I expect Parker will leave by mutual agreement allowing Bournemouth to pay us some compensation and us not to have to pay severance monies. This was a game for Jordan Henderson but i guess he wasn't fit for this one? I also think that Grealish might have been on from the start and definitely needed more time to warm into the game. Ian Wright is asking the dumbest question on why Southgate took Foden off, is he for real? To put it bluntly, there are far bigger and better teams to come after Scotland and what does Southgate do? Southgate was determined to play his best 11 mostly apart from ReesJames and Luke Shaw. This isn't change enough and i think that Southgate should have utilized his squad a lot better than he did tonight. The likes of Kalvin Philips should have been rested and wrapped in cotton wool for the big hitters to come. If Southgate had done his homework, he should know that the likes of Kalvin Pillips is trained by hard task-master Bielsa who notoriously burns players out to the max. Foden might have appreciated the rest also and Sterling and the missing in action Harry Kane. Yes' the draw will do England nicely and that is 4 points, but somewhere on down the line there is burn-out come the big teams. Stones did okay, but there is a mistake in him come the crucial times and so Walker. This was also a game for Maguire and fresh would have been best tonight. Gareth Southgate seems to have put his best game-plan at Croatia and he assumed that a unchange England would have enough in possession to over-run the Scotts? This game was always going to be blood and thunder and Scotland needed the result much more than England. Southgate will convince us that this was a vital result and England did what they had to do. Scotland will take this draw as a victory and with satisfaction, thay didn't lose to St George and England. At the end of the day, Scotland must beat Croatia next time out. England will be drawn further into the competition with fatigue and tired legs and up against the bigger teams. No pressure then? Harry Kane is nearly on 2 plus 90 minutes and no goals and looking flat as a pan-cake. While the old man Ronaldo is enjoying this tournament and scoring goals. Kane is starting to look like Mitrovic and England don't know how to get the best out of him in their present shape. Sounds all so familiar doesn't it??

Sorry Owen but once again your long drawn out post disguises your real point. Southgate is very negative and starts with the mustn't lose approach. It's fine in the tournament format , 16 out of 24 qualify ( that's the problem)

We have four points probably already enough to qualify. It was always going to be a difficult match as the Scots have a heart the English lack. The Scots also know how to buy thousands of tickets intended for the English.

As Fulham fans we know exactly how that feels, Southgate's tactics have stifled Harry Kane. Parker's tactics stifled Mitrovic exactly the same until people decided that Mitrovic couldn't play, are we now to believe that Harry Kane can't play? I know what I believe and it's that Southgate and Parker are not fit for purpose.

Foden shouldn’t have come off but there was a couple of times he only had to get the past the full back to get into the box but would stop back and check and pass the ball square

Don't blame Southgate's tactics for the way Kane plays. The top premiership teams play with a fast passing midfield and very quick strikers. Kane is not quick enough for this system. People who criticize the side-to-side and backwood passing must realize that the midfielders are waiting for a front player to make a run. With Kane on the half way line, that's not going to happen. You have to be tough to be a decent manager, and that means sometimes dropping your captain. If you want to know what 'front running' is all about, take a look at the kid playing up front for Sweden. Always available, quick, good in the air. We could do with him at Fulham.

In the first three months of 2021, British food and drink exports to the EU fell by £2bn — or by 47 per cent — compared with the same period in 2020, according to figures from The Food and Drink Federation (FDF).

Overall first quarter UK exports fell from £5.1bn in 2020 to £3.7bn in 2021.

While losses were seen across many sectors, dairy exporters were the hardest hit with milk and cream exports to the EU falling by more than 90 per cent, while cheese exports fell by two-thirds.

Chocolate and whisky were also notable trade losers, with exports to the EU falling by 37 per cent and 32 per cent respectively.

Dominic Goudie, the FDF’s head of international trade said: “The loss of £2bn of exports to the EU is a disaster for our industry, and is a very clear indication of the scale of losses that UK manufacturers face in the longer-term due to new trade barriers with the EU.”

I also live in Buckinghamshire and am disgusted by the way they are building on any square inch of land that's been there for thousands of years and was also designated as 'green belt'. Also, I have noticed that the people moving in couldn't give a toss about the town or village they move in to. They only stay for a couple of years anyway.

Hundreds of police officers are referred to the official police watchdog every year for abusing their powers for sexual gain, according to exclusive figures obtained by PoliticsHome.

Data from the Independent Office for Police Conduct shows that the highest level of corruption referrals this year were concerning police officers engaging in inappropriate sexual contact with often vulnerable members of the public.

Referrals received by the IOPC for abuse of power for sexual gains this year was 118 out of 490 overall referrals – more than double the amount received for theft, fraud, and drug supply.

Police were reported to have requested sexual favours in exchange for pursuing or not pursuing a police function as well as gratuitous sexual contact, such as inappropriate or unnecessary searches.

This year a former detective constable was jailed for 10 months following an IOPC investigation that found he had taken inappropriate photographs of a vulnerable woman without her knowledge or consent and sent inappropriate sexual messages to others.

Another police constable was dismissed after a gross misconduct hearing which found he sought to take advantage of a female victim of domestic abuse who he had met while working in the Public Protection Unit. The IOPC found evidence that the constable attempted to meet female victims of domestic abuse during and after police investigations and made sexually inappropriate comments, in some cases with the aim of starting a sexual relationship.

Joining the police force used to be a career for 80% of people if you could get in, now it's just a job to keep you busy for a year or two. Too much bloody paperwork and not enough on the group police work. Police on the beat, police stations unmaned, the list goes on. Cost before a good job.

The practice only stopped when she fell pregnant. However, it had gone on for a long time but I don’t think anyone was charged with an offence and she, I believe, had an abortion and disappeared, presumably to some institution somewhere. Nothing appeared in the Press. So I’m afraid poor behaviour has been around for a long time. At the time, whilst I was pretty young I lived in Lancaster Court overlooking the yard at Fulham Police Station and was therefore part of quite a close knit community that was always up to speed on what was happening. Sad but true.

I unfortunately have lost my connection with the England team over the last 15 years or so and don’t get too upset when they lose. But that doesn’t apply to the ‘scotch’ (I think using that term annoys them); I’ve never forgotten sitting in the large TV room in HMS Mercury and listening to the scotch cheering when West Germany got the late equaliser in 1966. Then when they came down to Wembley the next year and won, declared themselves World Champions. To the present English generation it probably doesn’t mean too much when we play and beat them; but it still does to the present scotch generation. So if Trafalgar Square is full of soaked depressed scotch later tonight, I will be one happy bunny

Who are these faceless cronies at UEFA who believe that they are above human life preservation and local laws?

I read with interest today that if the British government does not ease legislation for 2,500 UEFA delegates allowing them to come into the UK without Covid tests or isolation then UEFA will move the Euros final to Hungary.

Something needs to seriously be done about these idiots who think that they and football are above not only the law but also above the rest of the World in controlling a lethal virus that is only just starting to come under control in Europe.

If Boris bends on this and allows these 2,500 idiots to come into the country in this way then it would not surprise me if there was a major revolt when thousands of people have not been able to leave the UK and return without Covid tests and two weeks isolation.

If Boris sticks to his own law for the common people and UEFA insist on moving the final then we should pull out of the competition all together and so should Scotland and Wales in solidarity - in my opinion.

Rant over!

Thatcher bowing to pressure, emptied out mental institutions a lot of odd, dangerous and ignorant people, a lot of whom were incapable of work, to care in the community. This never really worked one of the reason we have a lot more institutionally poor and a lot more criminals.

I once got talking to Jokanovic whilst we were both waiting for people to turn up at a restaurant in Wimbledon. He said that what the Khan’s and in particular Shadid neded to make their mind up about was whether they wanted a football club or a hobby. In reality what we now have with the new stand and its offerings away from the nuisance of match days, is a property company with a football club attached, nothing more, and nothing less.

I say bring Slav back. He knows how to get the best from Mitro, TC, etc. It will be a breath of fresh air, the players will feel unshackled, and we all will enjoy the style again. A player like Carvahlo will be like Sess 2.0 - shining in Slav’s attacking system. Let’s face it, we had nowhere near as much talent two seasons ago at the back as Scottie had this year. Now, with Robinson, Tete, Tosin, Rodak … Slav will be better equipped to succeed. We lost Targett and Fredricks that year after Promotion - a huge factor in relegation. I’d much rather have Slav than Cooper, Big Sam, or anyone else. Roy would be a perfect balancing force as a consultant.

My faith in his ability extends to £100 @ 10/1 for Sheffield Utd winning the Championship. No abuse please from fulham fans just backing my judgement. Denny, yes they were. I watched them against Man Utd in about 1963. I took a mate who supported Utd. We stood in the old Riverside uncovered stand (all the 1st division clubs flying) and mixed and discussed players with some Utd fans. Talking of flags, I remember the Chairman, the comedian Tommy Trinder, saying when we got relegated in 67 we wouldn’t replace them with 2nd division clubs’ flags because we would only be in that division for 1 season. He was right, we got relegated again. Typically Fulhamish

I think Slav was/is a good Manager and his success at Fulham and Watford prove it. Where it all went wrong was that he and the Kahn’s were a poor fit. Remember him going public, saying he had nothing to do with transfers and really slagging the owners off. It is not good policy to publicly criticise the boss. He will never return to the Cottage, except as manager of the opposition.

If you buy Fulham as business, you know the capacity of the ground limits potential income so increasing the capacity by replacing one of the stands and at the same times building other income streams into it makes perfect sense. In the same way improving the facilities at Motspur park makes sense. The FIFA rules exclude all capital expenditure and all expenditure on under 18s. All earned income counts in the FIFA rules so any additional income from the new stand increase our player purchasing power. Owning a sports club in both America and the UK must also have advantages we do not know about.

Denny, I suppose it’s down to age, but whilst the quality of football is far superior today, I do look back with a fondness to the early sixties and the characters of football in general but Fulham in particular. I suppose my grandchildren will be saying the same to their grandchildren about the game now. There is something endearing to a lot of people about the team and the ground

Jets, do you really think the quality is superior? Personally I think most of it is hype, much preferred watching an honest game where players weren't throwing themselves on the floor to con referees and get their opponents booked... that's not quality, it's cheating! Also I question who we have playing nowadays to compare to the great George Best? Even when he played for us half cut from all his boozing he did things that these modern prima donnas aren't capable of.

Congratulations to the new guy 'Robert Page' for his patience and for not messing around with subs too quickly in a high-level important game such as this. It could have gone so wrong for the rookie manager but he kept his nerves and it played out nicely for him and Wales. If Wales only get so far in the competition, it still is a great achievement considering the depth of their squad. It will enhance Robert Pages cv in management too. Funny how things work out with the suspension of Ryan Giggs. Sometimes all it takes to carry a team is 2 world-class players, and i think Bale and Ramsey are world-class. Bale was not at his very best and we could see that, and his penalty was awful, but he is still one of the most astute passers of a football there ever is. If Ramsey was more alert and accurate, it could have been 3 or 4 goals more. I always say, 'leave your star players on, even if they are having a quiet game or missfire a few shots etc. Can you imagine if it was a Spurs game and Jose Mourinho was still in charge? Bale would be subbed off because he cannot play 90 minutes, or we listen to some different sycho-babble on how he needs to change the game etc. It is not just Jose Mourinho, and i think Scott Parker is guilty of pushing the wrong buttons on substitutions throughout last term. Football is a funny old game and one game can make or break you. If Wales only get as far as whatever in this euro's, it won't do Robert Page's reputation any harm by a long chalk.

Mitro compared to the rest is a much better player and Parker’s rift was unforgivable. We need new blood Tiny Khan included but that won’t happen.

There is something missing from all the Fulham managers that I have known... Something missing for more than 50 years. Many boards will talk about having one. Our failure in this department probably helps to explain why so many recent transfers have looked desperate and why so few youngsters seem to flourish in the Fulham first team. In this regard, the right manager is critical. With such a successful youth team, now is the time to get the appointment right. Indeed, Scott Parker might be the right man. I'm talking about a five-year plan and the fact that we have not held on to a manager for 5 years since 1964. Since Al-Fayed took over, the only manager I was sorry to see sacked was Joka and, of those who left voluntarily, Roy Hodgson and Mark Highest seemed most capable of taking Fulham forward. I believe that Parker has now been with us long enough to start taking us forward, despite his shortcomings. If he really is thinking about leaving us for another Championship club, seemingly with less potential, one has to question why. If we need a new manager, is it not about time we went with someone who will be able to execute a five-year plan which involves re-establishing Fulham as a Premier League club and ensuring that the class of '21 is the backbone of the first team in 2026?

I personally was sorry to see Jean Tigana leave. The team that was promoted to the Premiership under him played the best football I have ever seen a Fulham team play.I remember one game being reported on the radio where the commentator told listeners they really should get down to the Cottage to see the wonderful football being played. I think it was Sean Davis that said they would come off the pitch and think did we really play that well. Should he have been sacked? It looked like relegation and Al Fayed acted quickly. Too quickly? We will never know

Jean Tigana was one of the first managers to introduce the passing football style that nearly everybody uses now. At the time it was new and fresh and exciting but it has now become tiresome and dull. Man C use fluid positioning type of system rather the Dutch did in the !970s and Brazil have always used. We could all try to adapt that sort of play but it would take a while for the players to understand it and we would need a manager who who understood it wanted to operate it.

He is pulling up trees with teams in native Portugal with Rio and Braga with little money. He has a track record of being forward thinking in attacking style and progressive, which we need and get back to the stability of the MAF era. TK needs to step down and get a move on and get him.

Even if they are 90 percent effective that’ll still leave 10 percent of vaccinated people vulnerable. Most of those have other pre existing conditions, so a lot of those are in care of one form or another, hence carers need to be vaccinated to offer the best protection possible to the most vulnerable vaccinated people. Though you are correct the most vulnerable to covid are the unvaccinated which is why at the moment there is such a larger than normal proportion of hospitalised people are under 50, since they haven’t had a chance to get both jabs yet.

I have contributed to this board since it's conception many years ago (as have many others still posting) and in the main it has been good clean fun. I enjoy reading posts and comments about Fulham, Brexit, Covid, Politics, Friday Jokes, etc. made by genuine fans of Fulham but I/you can't help but notice that this board is in terminal decline.

In recent times however, it feels as though real Fulham fans are in the minority of posters compared to those that come on here to get a reaction using multiple monikers, people that have learned new words and use them in every post like "woke" and "workerati", people who think it's funny to mock other's religious beliefs or upbringing, those who think they make the rules and should therefore police what they personally see as unacceptable comments regarding race, creed or sexual choice (YES choice!), those who make comments deliberately aimed at the above to goad them, supporters of other clubs, etc., etc., etc.

We have lost so many interesting posters over the years like Arizonan, Californian, Moreline, the REAL Archbishop, the ORIGINAL Geezer, Ostrich Watch, Hints, Gazza, Gezza, Devon Bob etc. and that can't be right, can it?

I remember the days when we used to have a forum on the official website that went the same way as this one and was eventually closed down so maybe it is time to make it mandatory to register with a bona fide name, address, telephone number and e-mail address to deter people who clearly have no interest in Fulham Football Club and come on this site just for their own crass amusement?

Maybe I'm just getting old and becoming less tolerant of idiots but I'd truly like to see this site for genuine Fulham fans only!

I actually agree with you for once, on The whole. Over the last few weeks it would seem that there is a new poster who will Post something provocative, if not discriminatory, and then pepper their own posts with replies from different monikers. The sole reason they are posting is to cause arguments. I would suggest you try and live by your own rules and try not to to deliberately aim comments like ‘YES choice’ if you would like to Prevent the decline and prevent goading. Also when you were moderator you went on many foul mouthed rants when I requested we discuss football Only on this board - to Prevent arguements and make sure EVERY Fulham fan feels welcome. Which will be the only way to prevent this decline. The owners of the site recently said this is a board for Fulham related topics so the addition of Brexit, covid and politics might be responsible for the constant arguing. The club actually told me that the forum was closed due to the constant moderation required to Prevent it turning into a board like this.

MT, I completely agree with your post, yes I used to enjoy people’s opinions about non Fulham/football matters but it has gone over the top and has in some cases become toxic. As football fans a bit of banter is expected but abuse is not exceptable. It seems that this site has many anonymous wind up merchants waiting for someone to post about a subject that is near theknuckle or a subject they may not agree with and then the thread becomes open season for the multi named idiots. Everyone has an opinion, which is how it should be, sadly some posters can’t except this. I often wonder if some of these posters are Fulham or even football fans, I hope this board gets through this and if so the many leavers will return. If members had to sign up (email address etc) and were unable to hide behind a false handle this surely would help.

MT I think I probably disagree with you. Not sure what the problem is. Of cos there always going to be a few idiots coming on board here who have no interest in Fulham. I can actually name a few Brentford fans who come on here whenever they win! But on the whole, I think 90% of the people have an interest in Fulham. The difference maybe the sort of fans you want to see. The reality is with social media (which by the way I dislike and don’t use) has not helped as it has given people a platform to say what they like and not like. This site is no difference. Many more fans are much more critical of the club and some dislike the owners so much they threatened to give up their season tickets. Some ready to shoot the manager as soon as he makes a mistake. We even had someone criticising cavalho missing a half chance against Man U in his first full game. I respect their decisions or opinions about the club so long is not motivated by racism or any form of discrimination. Otherwise I don’t read them if don’t like to. Or I argue if I disagree. . So I am not sure what is the problem? Maybe you’d prefer an exclusive little club with just your old mates. Sadly, this is a forum open to all Fulham fans.. at least that’s what I thought!

Mr Khan is apparently putting his foot down, and will not allow Scott Parker to take over as Bournemouth's manager, without a sizeable compensation package, as he is under a 3 year contract. If it has come to this, it is now more than certain that Scott will not be with us for much longer, and that we will have a new coach when the season starts. For goodness sake let's get on with it then, as we don't want any last minute appointments which will leave us miles behind in the transfer market, and no chance of a reasonably good season.

Khan is absolutely right to put his foot down. I’ve said before I’d be shocked if he canned SP and had to waste paying compensation on top of the previous wasted spending. Any compensation to SP gets applied to FFP and would not be prudent. Either he quits, or another club pays us. Only ways I see this going.

Covid vaccinations are apparently going to be made compulsory for Care Home workers and possibly extended to the NHS.

Excellent idea in my opinion as people who care for the vulnerable should not be allowed to put the lives of others at risk.

Medical staff take the Hippocratic oath which, dictates "Practice two things in your dealings with disease: either help or do not harm the patient". Making a conscious decision NOT to be vaccinated knowing the facts regarding the protection it gives, goes against all the NHS stands for in my opinion.

Obviously Care staff do not take the oath but they are in the same position in terms of ensuring they do not harm the people for whom they care.

If you don't like it, choose another career!

Well, unless you have a friend or family member that died OF Covid brought into a care home by a member of staff then you won't know how it feels or will necessarily agree I guess. No issue but my opinion still stands very strongly. By the way and for those that don't know, my wife is an NHS nurse working in reablement and palliative care in people's homes so I hear the stories first hand and it is mandatory for them to have the hepatitis vaccine so why not coronavirus?
posted by MT - Wednesday 16th June 2021, 8:02 AM

MT, I totally agree with you, and any care home worker most definitely should have the vaccine, and if they don't toe the line, they should have to forfeit their jobs. It is not as if this new ruling will come in next week, they will have virtually four months. We must not drop our guards in care homes anymore.

I’d go for Benitez! Probably impossible but someone like Benitez should be the calibre of mangers the Khan should go for. A bit like going for Keegan - it sets the tone for the club and that is what we need. A big but credible manager. Benitez may never want to come to Fulham but if he did and with his championship experience, we can do a Newcastle in the next few years. You never know. Benitez likes a challenge. Given him a proper project and transfer budget, he could come.

John' the Khans wouldn't want Benitez because Benitez would want a bigger budget than the Khans could afford or would want to give. Remember the sly comments they made about the 100 million we spent first time around? This is why we were restricted and shied off taking Toney from Brentford and a few others. It makes you wonder if the Khans would have stumped up the fees for Andersen, Lookman etc if we were still in the prem? Benitez likes a challenge but he also likes money first just like Mourinho. These type of managers cannot afford time or reputation in getting a team up from scratch with limited resources. Time is now forgot to add Big Sam onto the list of out of work managers. He is another one who could not hack it and he basically talked himself out of a job. West Brom wanted him to stay but his pride wouldn't take it. Talking about pride in a man' i am surprised that Big Sam didn't sue you for leaving him off the list, lol.....

Add Luis Castro to that list. Three years ago, he managed to do an amazing job with Vitoria Sport Clube (a low mid table club) here in Portugal (finished 5th, taking them to Euro League) and was snapped up by Shaktar. First year there, he won the Ukrainian League with and reached the Euro League semi-finals. He finished this year 2nd in the league, with Kiev dominating the league. He didn't do amazingly well in the european stage, though he did manage to bag 2 wins against R. Madrid in the Champions League. With his contract finishing in the summer, he decided he wanted to try different stages and left. I personally like him and would say he's an interesting choice. Humble guy, very straight forward on his interviews and enjoys attacking football.

Javier, was with our club working with Jokanovic, and then left around the time that Joka did. He then returned to Fulham, and if my memory serves me right, he then came back as assistant director, and then left again to take up a post in China. It is a complete mystery to me that he is being talked about as our coach, and in my opinion it would be a disaster if it ever happened.

Javier Pereira is Spanish, and his name pretty much says that. He has a wide knowledge of football, since he has worked in several different countries (and continents). He's mostly known for being a man behind the scenes, working most of his career as an assistant manager. in English Football he's mostly known for his partnership with Jokanovic, where he was his assistant during Joka's tenure at Watford and Fulham. He also briefly had the Assistant Director of Football role (didn't even known that was a thing) at FFC from Jan 2020 to Sep of the same year, which had... 0 impact to be honest, since we still ended up recruiting players at last minute. He left Fulham for a Management position at the Chinese Super League relegation candidates Henan Songshan Longmen. Since taking over that club, he has saved them from relegation (he took over at the start of the relegation playoffs, winning 4 and drawing 2). This year's Chinese Super League he has managed 2 points in 4 games (4 Goals scored vs 5 Goals suffered). The board might favor him since he's gaining first team manager experience for a while, he knows the club and seems to get along well with the board. Is he a good solution? In my opinion, not really. Show's the boards lack of ambition. Thnks Transfrmarkt, Wikipedia, and some general knowledge (& memory) for the sources

It is well documented that Carlos Carvalhal is looking for a way back into English football. Carvalhal' had a good stint at Sheff Wed and only lost out in the play-offs to Huddersfield. He had a short spell with Swansea before departing these shores. Carvalhal has some international experience from a stint in Turkey which is useful, and also add to his list, Portugues clubs such as Rio Ave and i think his current team is SC Braga in Portugal. His time and experience back in the Championship with Sheff Wed is the bread and butter. The shorter spell for Swansea after the paul Clemmant sacking is interesting and maybe predictable as in, he was sacked after Swansea relegation. Carvalhal also won a manager of the month with the Swans and picked up home victories against Liverpool and Arsenal. Maybe we can compare with Parker, and Parker won a promotion which looks like he has the edge over Caravhal? I would argue that Carvalhal's type of football had more cutting edge with Swansea in the prem. As for relegation, we all know the difficulties and yo-yo situations for clubs like Swansea Fulham etc. Caravhal was a centre back in his footballing career, and think he would go about the job brilliantly if he can get a modest budget from the Khans. He also will bring more of a cutting edge to our Fulham attack more so than Scott Parker. Parker somehow never quite worked out a way on goal and that is why we struggled and knew our fate long before season ended. Experience comes with job cv , and Caravhal has the cv to prove and show it.

Sorry Owen, but not going to happen. Simply put, he joined Braga last year and managed 4th place in the league and is going to the Euro League with them. Not only that but Braga is a portuguese team that has been developing nicely over the years. Can't see him trading that for the uncertainty here. I do like him though. Very Portuguese on his press conferences, and a humble chap.

Good luck to him in the future but Mr Khan needs to get the right man and not a make doo on the cheap. Good players are attracted to good managers and we need someone to get us out of the Championship and get us back into the Premiership. No club has the right to be there, but we need real talent and quality that not only gets us back, but we stay there. Onwards and upwards....we are a unique club but we can do so much better.

obacco kills more than 8 million people each year. More than 7 million of those deaths are the result of direct tobacco use while around 1.2 million are the result of non-smokers being exposed to second-hand smoke. Over 80% of the world's 1.3 billion tobacco users live in low- and middle-income countries.

3,839,875 people have died so far from the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak as of June 16, 2021, 10:44 GMT.

My point was made regarding the UK not worldwide but by the same token, it is unlikely that figures from third world countries for Covid or smoking are anywhere near accurate nor sizeable enough.
posted by MT - Wednesday 16th June 2021, 11:49 AM

...and I should add to that, that smoking has been around for centuries and Covid not even two years. Also dying from smoking is relatively long term and mostly self inflicted whereby death by Covid by comparison is short and inflicted by others. Comparing smoking with Covid is pretty ridiculous in any case so not sure why I even got into this debate lol....

While I understand the angst against Tony, he seems to slowly start acknowledging the fact he can't be present in 2 continents at the same time. His twitter posts are mostly about his Wrestling company and I believe that's why he hired Javier Pereira to help him. Unfortunately Pereira left as soon as he got a management job offer and since then no one has filled that position. I would say that getting a new Assistant Director of Football should be the board's highest priority to plan for the long run. Ralf Rangnick would be an amazing bet (even though too difficult to reach imo). He did an outstanding job with Leipzig. I've read that the role is vacant because of how demanding the job offer is, but let's be honest... Liverpool's DoF didn't have much international experience and is doing a fine job. the Board just needs to get someone with a football heart who loves numbers as much as they do.

even if you weren't in love with the football parker had us playing, i still think he was working very well with the players he had. We clearly needed a striker like Ivan Tony. Everyone knows that! Losing Parker in my opinion is Fulhams lowest point under the Khans. Fulham is a much bigger and attractive prospect to any manager than Bournemouth. How are we in a position where top young english managers would rather be a Bournemouth than Fulham. This is a disaster!!! no wonder Shahid khans message the other day was as lacklustre as it comes.
Replies
If Fulham really wanted Parker, do you think they would let him go to Bournemouth?? Do not forget, Bournemouth had been in the premier league for about 5-6 years, they are probably financially with a bigger P&L than Fulham. The issue we all know is in Tony Khan. He's approaching his role like a General Manager (in America Sports) and that doesn't work in English football because to the fans the manager has to accept all responsibility! I just hope he or he's Dad see that now and change the structure before the next manager. Otherwise, will be dejavu again!

Fulham haven't let him go to Bournemouth. They've let him go. Probably because he doesn't want to be there and that any owner would know that keeping a manager that doesn't want to be there is a bad idea. He is then free to join Bournemouth. whats does a bigger Profit and Loss mean?

If I'm really honest, the extension does not affect me personally one iota. I very rarely have six people in my home from different households, I can still go for a pint and/or a meal, I'm happy holidaying in the UK for a couple of years and I can perform my work related duties reasonably adequately from my home office so if it helps save a few more lives then I am all for it.

Some of the rules though, I find a little perplexing. Weddings can now go ahead provided that social distancing and mask wearing is maintained is an odd one.

In order for social distancing to be observed, it would mean that venues would only be able to cater for, I don't know, around 25% of their capacity? Imagine that; dancing around handbags with a two metre distance between people. All the wedding album photos with people wearing masks lol. It'll be like a who's who.

Also if it is ok for wedding venues to cater for weddings then why not birthday parties, funerals, engagement parties, etc. and why not nightclubs of a certain size and capacity?

There will be a full capacity at centre court for the two singles finals so why not doubles and why not Wembley for the Euro final?

Lots of conflict to my tiny mind so no wonder confusion reigns for some and that rules will no doubt be broken as they always have been.

I just hope that we will be allowed a full capacity at Craven Cottage in August because this ballot nonsense will kill the anticipation and excitement of being back and people that pay for their season tickets by instalments will have their ticket price refunded for games they miss but unlikely the interest or credit charges so not very fair methinks.

Sigh.... it was it is though so let's grit our teeth and get on with it ;0))

The group that socialize most in large groups are the young people who have not had the vaccine. The Government are going to do everything to get the 18-22 group done as quickly as possible. The other main factors is schools break up, stopping another super spreader. It would have been better to shut down foreign travel until everybody has two jabs and three weeks have passed since that event.

Nah, but the Government do pump it full of mind altering drugs, all the better to control you:) Mind you I’d say it’s not necessary with the brain dead and exceedingly selfish people who not have the vaccine. The rest of us are intelligent enough to resist these sinister attempts at universal control. Bet George Orwell would agree with me.

MT. It is the responsibility of the wedding venue to ensure social distancing. I suppose they assume most birthday parties take place in the home and can't be policed. I thought I read that funerals follow the same rule as weddings but I might have misread it.
