My response below is hopefully to point out how stupid it is to announce that Fulham are favourites for relegation we always are anyway every year. It means nothing. I would rather see our worst now, and edge forward positively and see what we are learning going into our coming games. Now the manager needs to earn his money. And yes we need a strong calming influential mid fielder, which i believe most of us recognise.

Palacious and Gonzalo are too lightweight and they bring very little to the table. Palacious looks seriously underweight and sadly not strong enough to cope with bigger players in prem which is a worry. We can excuse Josh King but the two Spaniards don't look ready for battle in this league sorry to say. It is a nonsense bringing Smith Rowe and Kevin on when nobody know what system or how we should play going forward. I hate to say it but i think Arbeola is a touch amateurish and a bit green to management. I could be wrong and he makes the needed adjustments quickly before we sink further. A high press is okay if we can drop back into shape and cover the gaps teams are attacking and thats the problem with the high press. The maths will only work out better if we take our chances when we create them but we don't and thats the problem. We have problems taking our opportunities season after season and no solutions with any manager for a long while now. Chelsea and Alonso address problems immediately, as you noticed after their win against us starting with their goalkeeper. These little details are massive in the grand scheme of things.

Yes' both useful attacking mid's, Loftus is powerful and Elliot good industrious and can score the spectacular but let's see what we already have in Palacious and co. Surely Muniz is a better signing than Wimbledon, Marco rated Muniz and he wanted him to stay. Smith Rowe i still think should and could have played a part in the Chelsea game Monday night. He might have come with a bigger impact than Palacios in my opinion. It is still early days and i wouldn't write Muniz or Rowe off so quickly. That's just me but each to his own.

Josh King for all his talent is not strong enough to carry the ball through the middle and we don't have enough power in midfield. We can argue till the cows come home that Loftus is crap and not good enough for Fulham which is a nonsense because he plays for AC Milan and they are up there with the best and besides, Loftus i think will have learnt much more for going to Milan. Arbeola is happy with our team and progress so far this season by the way and he acknowledges that we need to tighten up at the back but we know this is a long term problem.

Agree DMK, we have enough to build on and we will get better. It is always disappointing to lose to Chelsea who are a good side but not exceptional. I thought 3-3 would have been the result if only Robinson was more accurate with the lob not to be. We were very naive tactically at the back and this is not a new problem and it is easy to sort out when all players watch it back. Their second goal was schoolboy stuff, leaving two players unmarked. At this level we will get punished every time for switching off and ball watching but saying all that Chelsea are not amazing and they also make mistakes which we should learn to capitalise on. Arbeola will know and see our defensive issues no probs. We only acquired 3 players so far and i wonder if there is more to come in before the window shuts?

Arbeloa looks like have resolved this and our players worked their socks off from the 31st seconds of the match to the very last minute! Apart from Sess, i thought the players came off the bench didn't show the same urgency and energy. We need to change that.

His goal was instinct to head the ball down. How many times have we seen strikers head over from that situation. For 75% of the game we gave a good account of ourselves. I will be interested in how AA sets the team up which I hope will be an attacking formation. I suspected Andersen will feature, provided he has finished his suspension, which in my book will be a mistake and regret the departure of Diop. I hope my fears do not come to fruition. I am excited but we have been handed a tough six starting games which will test our mettle and will provide a guide to the rest of the season. Who, in their right mind, would forecast Charlton winning at the London Stadium. As far as the Premier League is concerned, no games could have been forecast with any confidence, to my cost with the bookies. Coventry apart, who could have seen the Hull and Ipswich results coming. Can we follow the trend by beating, or drawing with our neighbours Chelsea tomorrow, but unfortunately I doubt it, but at least we must go down fighting, and not just roll over and take a pasting. Once this game is done and dusted, it will give us an idea, of the shape of things to come.
