Marco mainly purchased older players with PL experience the new manager seem to prefer to purchase players from outside the PL. As long as they settle in quickly, which they seem to be doing, it seem to me a good deal. If in a few year we are asked silly money for these players we will have more money to spend on better players. This seems a very good way to progress up the League, though when we do we may need to consider a new manager who does not make as many mistakes as Arbeloa does.

True what manager has said, let’s look at a couple of penalty possibilities for Fulham. First, just before half time when maguire put his arm across Josh King on edge of box. Not sure if var looked, but should have been foul, possible penalty and booking, nothing given. Second one in second half when, again I think King, ran along goal line at hammersmith end and just as about to pass across goal his shirt was pulled from behind, again not sure if var looked. A shame really because on the whole a really good performance by Fulham.

Whenever Kris Kavanagh is involved, and he was the 4th official yesterday, we know that we are in fora hard time. I didn't see the incident during the game, but on watching the highlights, all I am pleased about, is that Kavanagh wasn't covering the VAR, as no doubt he would have awarded a penalty against us, with Bassey's handball. in this case it was well done to who was sitting watching the game, that he didn't get Peter Bankes to review it, on screen as I'm sure he would have given Manure a penalty and a lifeline. None of us could understand why Josh King was yellow carded for diving, when he was obviously fouled. It wouldn't have happened the other way around.

I have only been home for a short while,,and I have been seething all the way home in the car, as to why as regular as clockwork Manure always seem to snatch away either a win or a draw from us in the final few minutes, and I'm gutted. We should have beaten both Palace and United, and drawn with Sunderland, but not winning games we should have, is becoming a habit, and if we don't get at least two wins from our next three games, I will start to believe, that we will be fighting to avoid the drop all season, and that was certainly not what I was expecting.

Is it just me thinking our manager deserves some criticism today? Taking Berge off was a mistake and no need to take off Bobb Iwobi and King. Yes, King was on a yellow but not in danger of a second and besides, Josh King is our main threat up front, Gonzalo should not be ahead of Muniz in the pecking order, he is not good enough! How long can Arbeloa stick with this guy? Then again i could be wrong and i am not the manager. How many times have i said that?

Larson, Palacios, Muniz and Kevin were all poor. Manager’s fault we didn’t win in my opinion as his substitutions lost us two points. Onwards and upwards - at least he knows our best 11 to start now. He learnt his last season well and proved to be a quick learner tightening up the defence. It’s also easy in hindsight that he’s sub didn’t work. Remember, Marco has been doing that for that last 3 years - putting 5 at the back for the last 10-15mins and worked well. So, probably a bad call but don’t blame Arebola too much. I know we only have 2 points but I enjoyed every game except the Sunderland. See more football already that under Marco in half a season.

I can't remember Muniz ever getting more than minutes towards end of games . The problem with all those subs is they are not quite warmed up to speed and you could see that with Kevin losing a man utd player down the right side but he produced a rasping shot at their keeper which could have been better. Gonzalo had some half chances and missed a dead cert. He will never be dropped! Our defensive unit before the subs were fantastic today

I feel really choked that we didn't win that game, but I would have been even more upset if we had lost. We have now gone 3 very difficult games without defeat, and only 2 points, from being almost halfway up the table, and that is where we will finish. Quite a few posters thought that we wouldn't have any points by now, and we have. In reality, our season starts after the International break, and then we hopefully will show our class against three Championship sides, then we can also beat Palace in the Carabao Cup. Our opening fixtures were very unkind to us, so now let's get on with winning now. Another thing, who said Leno should be dropped. They must be joking.

Normally, it does not matter how well we play United always get the rub of the green. It took AA until our fourth game to ring in the changes and to stick to the same team. Please, no Andersen who remains a liability. I found the game against West Ham both entertaining and rewarding. The sight of Bobb scoring his first goal and his reaction was wonderful and hopefully, may kickstart his game now that he knows the purpose of the three white wooden structure with a net attached. We showed our strengths against Liverpool, apart from scoring. I believe the formation against them strengthened our defence whilst not weakening our attack. Provided the referee is not a United supporter we will get a point or even a victory. We must endeavour to impose our attacking force from the start. Relegation cannot be ignored and Coventry has demonstrated it is possible to overcome adversity.

Chelsea can score goals anytime with Palmer etc etc , but in our game against them you could see they have defensive problems just like we did. I was surprised they didn't address problems before end of transfer window. I think we will be better now with the inclusion of Afengruber, i keep singing his praises, i just hope he is as good as i think he is.

Josh would have been aware that Tuchel was at the game and he played a blinder, and i think he showed enough to show why he should have been picked this time around. Not a big fan of Tuchel who i think made the wrong choices and tactics in the semi's. While we are on the subject; Fans can be critical about any manager and it doesn't mean we don't support or love our club. For instance Bassey covered a lot of ground in that Liverpool game and i think he will benefit more than the rest. A slightly jaded player can make mistakes which can be costly and Bassey can make the odd mistake like they all can. It's a gamble dropping your best players but alls well that ends well, we won the game. The high-intensity attack we have adopted is the way we have chosen and there are rewards but we still have to be mindful and rotate or we will have burnout like Leeds and Bielsa.

Good ability to retain the ball and we always had that in our locker, the better teams will grab more possession of us but we have a little more defensively now. Our team as yo say is short in stature but i think our main concern is up front. I have criticised Gonzalo and maybe i shouldn't. Palacious is startig to look better and better and maybe Gonzalo will do the same, Arbeola believes in him. Muniz isn't short and i think he is built for the prem but he needs to be more prolific. We can say his goal was routine and strikers are expected to take those chances like against West Ham. I hope Arbeola can give Muniz more minutes because there is a good chance that he might just take off like a rocket and score goals. No need to worry because we have the January window to buy if Muniz and Gonzalo don't score enough goals between them. The same goes for Smith Rowe etc etc. We are starting to look quite decent and if no result against Utd, we will register wins soon. My only concern is a possible burnout from our high-press play, can we keep that up?

Apparently he would have been happy to join West Ham in the transfer window, and it would have been better all round if that had happened. In a way, I feel quite sorry for him, as is a talented player, but he will never ever settle down with us, so will never put his heart and soul into it. He is probably a very nice lad, but Marco made a big mistake with him.

Many seasons ago, and I can't remember when, Manchester United played a team, with ages similar to ours, and a remark was made, "You can never win anything with kids" but in fact they went on to win Division 1, the now Premier League.. Could we, just win something with our young team ? Probably not this season, as our main objective will be, to stay out of the bottom 3, for which we are still 9/4 to go down. The next objective however, is to go 3 games without defeat, when we play Manure on Sunday afternoon. If a team like Hull, for goodness sake, can beat United, then surely we must have a chance of grabbing at least a draw. COYW.

I have always been a fan of Smith Rowe, thinking that he would eventually come good, but after tonight's game, which to me was a brilliant win, I have to join the majority, and say that he is in fact garbage, has now proved to be, no more than a Championship player. Delighted to see Oscar Bobb open his account, and with that monkey off of his back, we might now see a different player. I might add, that Kevin, is also proving to be a complete waste of space.

It's no good the jonahs saying that it was only their reserve team, but so, basically was ours. Wet Spam strengthened their side in the 2nd half, and we did as well. So Liverpool and West Ham away, and a draw and a win, so things are slowly getting there, and we could do with a point at home to Manure on Sunday, to help us on our way. Spurs, by the way lost to Liverpool tonight, but at least they scored a goal at last ! !

What surprised, and delighted me, was the fact that they included, Hull, Ipswich, Sunderland, and Palace, but didn't include Spurs, Villa, and Fulham. He did change the system, bringing in Affengruber and Berge which had the steadying effect we had all crying out for. The attack was just as effective with King once again working his socks. Once again, I still consider Bobb is not justifying his transfer fee. Affengruber was outstanding, considering it was his first appearance whilst Berge and Charles linked up well. In my opinion we were unlucky not to get all three points as we had two excellent opportunities. I agree with Owen that we could have been awarded a penalty when Allison took King out but he disguised his intent and got away with the foul. An excellent performance by the whole team although questions are likely to be raised regarding Garcia.

posted by The Time Is Now - Monday 14th September 2026, 2:43 PM I criticised Arbeola and yes i should have listened to fans who said give him more time. The Liverpool game completely turned my head around and this was like the old Fulham but with a lot more intensity and fight. I was worried that we would run out of steam but this style can work, provided we do subs at the right time. Liverpool hit the bar and there were a few balls fizzed in where they could have gotten to but we had just as many chances. Out team now reminds me of Leeds and Bielsa but it can work out better for us, providing the partnership between Bassey and Affengruber holds up. Thomas Frank is a good option but we can get managers like him who have done the rounds any time. I would rather we continue on our journey with Arbeola now because we are starting to look like we can take on and beat anyone playing like this. I just hope we don't burn out.

MST; i am surprised you did not comment on our new centre half David Affengruber, i think he will be decent. Looking at him and his waif-like stature gives the impression that the bigger players will brush him aside. Some defenders are more combative and like to stick their foot in and Affengruber likes to keep it simple by tidying up quickly with a clearance and his passing skills look good. I think this guy and Bassey is the turning point of our season after seeing him in one game. Does this mean the end of Andersen who i think will spend more time benched now? This was a good debut for Affengruber who is not used to anything more than a second division level.

We played as they wanted to play but did not allow them to do the same. If we can become more ruthless with our chances we can beat anyone.

Palace, I would love to see go down, but it could be any of Sunderland, Ipswich, Hull, and Spurs. However, it is very open at the moment, and teams like Bournemouth, Villa, and ourselves could be involved.

Everything was right about the match, even the substitutions were perfectly logical. The main factors as I see it is the players now fully understand what the manager wants them to do and fully understand why they are doing it.
posted by The Time Is Now - Sunday 13th September 2026, 6:58 AM Needless to say that not one l you did we avoid, the expected hammering yesterday, but miracle of miracles, we came away from Anfield with not only a point, but a clean sheet as well, against a top class bunch of strikers. However, I'm hoping that this wasn't a one off result, and that we continue to improve, as we have some really tough games coming up, apart from Manure next weekend. Basically, we are still looking for our first 3 points, and despite yesterday's performance, we are still shot shy, which was proved against both Sunderland and Liverpool. After the International break, we have Coventry, Ipswich, and Hull, two of which are away, and which before the seasons start, looked like a 9 point collection, for us, however, both Hull(last seasons Sunderland)and Ipswich have already picked up points, and Ipswich won at Palace, a team, despite leading twice, we couldn't beat at home, and Hull are so far unbeaten, so there should be no chickens counted by us, before facing those three, and it will be interesting to see how Coventry cope with Brighton today. In a way I hope Coventry win, as I don't want us to be their first win. Honestly though, we need Brighton to win, to make sure, Coventry stay bottom. As we all acknowledge, with a new manager, and a practically new squad, it will all take time, and patience before we move up the table, but we don't want to take too long.

Funny tactical change with Castagne and Tete on but it works for Arbeola. What a difference one player makes? Brubaker, i call him Brubaker after one of my fav films by Robert Redford is safe and brilliant and what a difference he is from Andersen, Bigboy will be pleased. Brubaker makes those passes up the field look easy and simple and that is what is required. Andersen tends to over do it sometimes. Was that a penalty from the legs of Allison over Josh King? Var should have looked but they didn't. Josh was way too honest and he should have gone down over Alison's legs but all good. I wrote a piece about how important David Affengruber might be and this guy from a second division team where he came from was a gamble worth taking and you just know and you can tell how important he will be for Fulham. I will be the first to apologise and say, Arbeola should be given all season and now i don't think we will go down. If we had played like today against Sunderland and Palace, we would have the points. Last thing i will say is i still don't think that Gonzalo is strong enough and personally i would have given Muniz more minutes but what do i know, i am not the manager. All good now in Fulham and i don't care who we play from now on,we will be okay...

Summing up, although we are stuck in the bottom three at the moment, providing we continue to approved steadily, we will be fine by Christmas, and beyond.

When we attacked we had people to pass to and when we defended we had enough players to keep Liverpool out. The system the manager wants to play works now all the players know how it operates. For most of the match we looked the better team. If we can play like that from we can play like that for all remaining games.

Also good to see he played the new CH and also played Charles and Berge together as well as Awobi further forward - something I’ve been calling for since the Sunderland game. Read my post again Mike. Agreed MST, in addition we need Sessegnon to start and Muniz to add some muscle up front. Bobb, has failed to deliver time and time again so leave him on the bench. Our defence really needs strengthening which you have provided a good line up. Unless AA makes changes he will lose the fans as well as the dressing room.
