Could Marlon and Todibo be the next centre back pairing for us? Come on who is not excited by a back five of Areola, Tettey, Marlon, Todibo, Bryan.

Four seasons since they parted their ways having scored many goals together to Fulham. Four seasons later, Dembele’s last game was for Lyon against Bayern Munich In the semi final of Champions league and Ross last game was a friendly away at Slough, playing for Aldershot! Dembele is being chased by Man Utd, Ross has another friendly at Dartford! I do feel sorry for McCcrmack as he made quite a few goals for Dembele. We got 13m back for him and only 200k for Dem! What a shame for Ross!

Mc was happy where he was, if he had spent the time to make himself super fit like most PL players and practised and practised like most PL players do he could have been a top player. But he was happy to be a journeyman players moving from club to club earning as much as he needed for the rest of his life. That is why most of the PL do not recruit from the Championship because it is difficult for any manager to persuade any player to completely change his lifestyle.

1-0 up but being out played by a second string Wednesday. So many mistakes and this team of players will not stand a chance against any PL club.

It’s our second team for the most part. Seri is even on the bench. Not expecting much. Probably seen the only goal already.

We might be a premier league club but the team starting tonight is a championship team. While I do like to see Seri play and hopefully with renewed attitude, Sheffield Wednesday being a physical and strong team is probably the last team he should play, if we want to keep him this year. Wednesday will remind seri why he is suited to the English game!

A win is a win but defensively will still look shaky at times. Interestingly Hector and Ream were paired in the middle, does this suggest the Odoi / Hector experiment has ended ? Was Cairney injured ?I was surprised he was not in the match squad considering the lack of match action he has had recently ? Johansen started, does this mean his move has fallen through ? Clubs tend not to give a players a game just for another clubs benefit. Good to see Seri have a run out though. Understandably a little short on match fitness but showed glimpses of what he brings to the table.

Pretty comfortable as far as I was concerned, Knockhaert best performance for a while, will agree about Bobby Reid, should've had a hat trick, he's not premier class. Think Parker has more questions than answers for first 11...must find room for Robinson though, his pace will be invaluable....Now for another grudge match in next round...Still well done boys, a win and a clean sheet.
posted by NRL (Guest) - Wednesday 23rd September 2020, 9:54 PM

There was no MOTM. Rodak made a couple of routine saves. Reid and knocker were awful as too was Kamara. Staff gave the ball away time and time again and what has happened to Hector? He isn’t half the player he was last season. A good win but an awful display against a third rate team. Absolutely awful.

MST, Why so harsh? We've won 2-0, yes I believe it should have been more but AWFUL? Really? The 2nd half was a stroll. We got what we needed, a win and a clean sheet, which is preferable to playing well and getting dumped out by an inferior team. Cheer up, I know these times are difficult but try and raise a smile and always remember...laughter is the best medicine.

It must have been a very shouty half time in the Fulham dressing room as we were much better all round in the second half and looked more like a PL reserve team.

We were up against a Sheffield Wednesday team that made 11 changes from their game at the weekend with most of them under 23/25. Yes we made seven changes but most of those players have played with each other in the Championship last year and are seasoned and experienced professional. Wednesday out played them in the first half except for two lapses in concentration at the back for our goals. How Parker can say our defence played well is beyond me; if it wasn't for poor finishing by inexperienced Wednesday players the game would have been beyond Fulham by half time. The whole display by Fulham was woeful in my opinion - beginning to end and if the same team plays again in the same way against Brentford next week, they will score a hatfull - trust me...

Thanks MST for the match report; only saw the goals and Parker’s comments. At least we got the win and that is a positive and giving players a run out who need game time is another positive. Things are a bit stale at the club and we desperately need a result against Villa for more reasons than just the three points. We are also missing the fans at the ground to give the team a lift. A couple of big signings and a couple of wins before the next stupid international break might be the lift we need?

Think the positive to take is that our second team Performed a lot more competently against a championship club than our first team did in the whole of last season. Progress

has it been confirmed yet? interesting to know/concerning to know. depends on how you see it. Seri, Marchand and Marlon were at Nice in 2017 before Tony came calling in 2018 for the first 2. So it should be a player Tony is aware off. They went well in the French League and EL that season. But since neither Seri nor Marchand have been successes in 2 point 1 seasons. How do we feel about Marlon? Did Tony keep tabs on Marlon when he spent the next two season in Seria A? or is this a pickup based on the 2017 scouting? Lastly who does Marlon a Right sided defender partner? Is it Marchard as they know each other from 2017 or is it Hector whom I read played left side for Hull City.

but will it end? the problems we've seen have largely been at the lower end where they don't have the money to test. Seen issues with EL qualifiers where 55 Nations compete , can we expect these small Clubs to fly around and have no impact? there have been cases of players breaching covid protocol at higher levels, but does that mean Tier 1 football ends? I say no What will likely happen is they end all but CL and PL football. but curtail or shorten others. EFL showed they can cope with covid from june to end so they might argue they could continue too. They will ensure and rightly the bubble is maintained at the top end and might be wise to increase squad size from 25 to 30??? to help But take out the fixture congestion like domestic cups or make a smaller PL cup for now? People moaning and calling for a END IT ALL NOW. Will be the same who be calling for more sport/Entertainment on tv come Winter time? When it is cold and raining and you stuck indoors with nothing but repeats again.

Why would the season be stopped in the premier league?? All the players are being tested twice a week at clubs expenses (peanut money when you compare to money they’d otherwise lose not playing). Lower league teams can not afford the tests therefore, yes their season could end abruptly again!

and you know Tony hasn't? The chances are Tony enquired like he likely has for every player under the sun. That's from reading the rumoured links and the pattern which suggests Tony's been going through the PL and Uk leagues, then after that avenue. Now going through European leagues. Rudiger is still on the market (probably wanting a move to a -list team, but he might not be seen as such a player), suggests he is highly priced and doesn't want to move. But with 12 days left and a UEFA tournament next summer. Things may change. One things for certain. Tony would have left his 'calling card' and 'some offer on the table' and with the Transfer window closing. Rudiger and his agent will be holding on to it 'just in case' as a plan Z

We have got to stop fooling ourselves down at the Cottage! Apart from Mitrovic who came into the Cottage with big guns blazing, there really hasn't been another player we have signed after Mitro who has made a proper impact. Okay' maybe Hector of TROY'? Hector's lion roar petered out tamely and we need more from him defensively. My fool-proof plan for bringing Sess back is simply idiot-proof' and i think that the smartly intelligent 'Impartial' will see how beautiful my plan is? The lad just makes things happen when he plays for Fulham anywhere on the left, preferably upfield. It is a simple plan that requires we keep Anguissa our best player right now. If Anguissa leaves? We will not have any drive worth going in the midfield. Anguissa needs more smart supply to drive Fulham. Sessegnon will have a desire and a passion to don the Fulham shirt again, and if only we can bring our boy home. 'Kuyne' let us reach out to our lost prodigal son, he needs a sympathetic arm to welcome him back. And so all of us Fulham fans' i mean the true fans! Imagine if it was your son, lost in the wilderness of 'The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium'? What is that compared to our lovely cottage? How can you compare listed buildings like the Royal Palace and 'Craven Cottage' Guy's, we must bring him back. You know it makes sense!!!!!
Replies
One big flaw in your desire to get Sessenong back. Daniel Levy! He's not the kind of guy to ever admit to his mistakes and I think he'd spite us by Sessenong going anywhere but back to the cottage.

Ryan Sess all washed up at the ripe old age of '20? Can't hack it in the prem, and only Championship class! Are we sure about all this? He was never brilliant at left-back but we already know all this info. My point about this post was that Sess made an impact for Fulham, and he carried it for a few seasons playing more games than he should considering his age. It ain't gonna happen and i know Levi will not sell him back to us. That wasn't the point i tried to make. It's a light-hearted post and not meant to get my name in lights. I also think that i am not the only Fulham fan who shares these sentiments about Ryan Sessegnon. His brother is not a patch on him whatsoever...

John apart from the top teams in the PL as we all know, are looking to uncover a diamond in the rough, at a bargin price. Look on the bright side we are on a par with 50/60% of teams. My glass is half full, only time will tell but we have not wasted 100m this time.

Will you listened too much to the pundits. We haven’t wasted £100m financially. We did not get the results from the £100m but we will recover most of the £100m back. Mitro (£40m?), Anguissa (£30m?), Seri (£12-18m). The irony is where we really wasted money is on an English player in Mawson. Agree all teams are trying to find the diamond. An established player would not join Fulham.

Marlon is OK. Good on the ball, experience in Seie A, I mean, we are not gonna get Van Dijk and prices are cray these days, so happy if the signinng goes through. More interesting though: Just read we might be looking into Todibo from Barça... French, 20 years old, 6.3-6.4”, played for Schalke last year... Apparently offer is 18+5m EUR. Guy has lots of potential but is very young, like a very poor man’s Varane these days... Wondering though if pairing two newbies to the Premie League is the way to go. On the other Dawson, Foyth and the likes make me cringe tbh, so might as well roll the dice with Marlon&Todibo and hipe that Hector improves bc he has been dreadful the first two games.

If you can believe the press (you can't), we are interested in almost every CB who fits our too low budget. I can only see one guy, Juan Foyth at Spurs, who is worth a punt. Just down the road, easy enough to talk. I've had another look at our fixture list to November and think that we need to get 2 CB this week, if we are to have any chance of winning a game or two.

QPR, along with half the Championship sides at the weekend, didn't "take the knee" before their game against Coventry. Les Ferdinand has put up a strong defence of the team's decision. Sanjay Bhandari from Kick it Out agreed that there needed to be a focus on real change and the game should be talking about solutions, not symbols. Well done both. However the PL will continue this empty gesture because it was decided by team captains and only they can change it. Will whoever is our captain be first to break ranks?

Good post, Arizonan. Too much of life today turns on symbols without substance. Example, Lewis Hamilton. Always has a union jack to hand but how much does he contribute to our tax man? If only we had a government that could create a fairer society, which means taxing extreme wealth and penalising the scroungers. Seems that greed and envy are out of the shadows.

The Craig Dawson rumour won’t go away ....And also Marlon who looks a decent player but is not the quickest.....so with Dawson and Marlon we would have the the slowest centre back pairing which is far from good. Our transfer targets are really third and fourth choices .....I doubt we are going to do the business required and with Parker remaining at the realm with this squad it really isn’t looking good ...
Replies
Anyone who thinks Marlon is the answer to our prayers should watch the Sassuolo v Bologna 2018/19 highlights on YouTube. Bologna scored a goal because Marlon, who was playing on the right of defence, was caught on the wrong side of the attacker, did not compete well enough for the ball in the air, and allowed his man to nod it down for a teammate to score. We have enough players who do that, we desperately need an upgrade. Dan Burn would be a far better option.

If we’re ever going to sign 2 quality CH’s & maybe co-striker, we’re gonna have to hold a fire sale. First in line Anguissa, then Seri and that crap ‘keeper. Maybe £45 - £50k all in - which should buy a couple of decent CH’s.

We’ve been written off by almost all pundits, and probably many loyal fans in here too! I think they are all a bit premature to jump to that conclusion after 2games. Fulham are always a slow season starter and when you are still building the team, it will take even longer. We also judged us against two very good teams with serious pace, which unfortunately is our big weakest at the moment. But the season has another 36 games and the objective, frankly, is just to be the best of the worse. Similarly to Villa last season. Like us there are 6-7 teams without any points, we just need to get our nose infront of this group to stay up. I certainly haven’t written us off and I believe Parker like last season has the football brain to keep us up! So don’t listen to the likes of Sutton or Merson!
Replies
Going to be difficult when we need to score three or four goals just to draw. As you write though, we are not alone and as prviously indicated, the newly promoted clubs have shipped 22 goals between them in just two games and Leeds that same as Fulham with seven...

Our defence had moments where they were completely out of shape which coincided with Hector going AWOL . On a number of occasions he came out way to far chasing the ball leaving Ream or Odoi stranded with two men (or three) to mark , making it simple for the opposition to pass through our remaining backs . Under Roy we kept a very rigid back four , which seemed to work .
Replies
Ream didn't play Saturday and maybe it is Ream that keeps Hector in check? Odoi is a maverick at the back and plays like he is an attacking midfielder so with Hector playing with no discipline either we were just an accident waitng to happen....

I’m sure the coaching team ,the manager ,the owner ,can see what’s blindingly obvious....but when players go onto the pitch and aren’t playing well there’s little the manger can do ...especially if it’s a keeper or a centre back ...and we know Roy’s a great manager and one of his strengths is drilling teams to defend ....but Roy’s gone so get over it ...and I’m sure the club are searching for ...a striker and a centre back ,problem is so are most of the teams in the division .... The fact is the club are not going to sack Parker this week and they are not going to bring big Sam in or any other dinosaur that keeps being put forward on this site ....And I’m sure the owners would prefer us not to get relegated again even though people on this site seem to think that’s there ‘plan ‘ ... I’m not sure what some of you thought would happen when we got in the top division ,it’s going to be a struggle ,Parker likes our team to play with the ball that’s what he believes in and that’s going to be tough in this division ...but it’s ridiculous to say he doesn’t have a plan ...he does it’s just that lots of people on this site don’t like it ...they would rather Roy’s approach or perhaps bang the ball forward and hope that something happens !… that’s not going to happen is it because that’s not Parker’s approach ...so the coaches ,the manager etc need to learn fast and so do we ...nothings going to change over night, it’s going to be a slog !

Hector in the Championship became used to covering the inadequacies of the remainder of the defence. That will not work in the Premier so we need a companion for Hector and a deputy. The new left and and right sided defenders look like an upgrade. Reed and Anguissa must be the prime support for the defence. If Parker is going to play Kamara he must teach how to defend and explain his responsibilities to defend. When we do not have the ball everyone, but Mitro, show be behind the all covering all space and advancing players. This is all basic stuff but this discipline was lacking in the first two games. I would always keep Mitro up as that means at least two opposition will need to stay with him and it give us an attacking outlet when we are under pressure. I am not the manager but these things are basic and obvious things that the players must all commit to put into practice.
posted by The Time Is Now - Monday 21st September 2020, 11:25 AM

Good post Markrightback, Parker knows the way he wants to play, to achieve this he needs the right players. Sometimes you have to change the system during the game if the opposition works you out. Experienced players can adapt quickly and this in turn encourages team mates. Two centre backs would be nice, an additional striker would be great. The season has just started, its the same for most clubs, they are all looking for defensive players. Parker has a plan and he knows what he needs, he deserves time.

Have watched all the home games and 50% of away games under parkers managership, his one dimensional play just about worked last season, but the premiership managers are much more savvy with a greater technical knowledge and ability,so i believe we will be thrashed time, and time again. he should be completing his managerial apprenticeship first. This league is no place for a rookie especially one who only has one method of play, and cannot seem to adapt to different situations, this I know will upset many of the parker fan club, but under this manager/coaching regime,to quote corporal Frazer we are doomed.

Buckle-up fulhamites' this coming week now to the near end of the transfer season will be crucial to which way our season flows. We desperately need a center-back to calm our jittery defense and an experience forward would do nicely also. My mind and thinking cannot venture any further than Jonathan Tah and my reasons for going after this guy is so basic it is unbelievable, and we are desperate! I know very little about Tah and the little i know comes from a google source and that is it! There is a little right back tearing up the Brighton right flank right now and he is being bigged up as sensational. It doesn't really matter what position a new player comes into a new team, what really matters and what fans care about is an impact and a spark of hope. Especially for the smaller clubs outside the top 6. Sometimes, just that one player can ignite a much-needed confidence boost to a team lacking in confidence. I don't know if we can secure Tah or if we even have him on our radar still? If so, this guy will cost a packet simply because there are 6 and a dozen clubs after the same thing. We have taken Ream out of the equasion and a lot of fans are relieved about that but sadly, it changes nothing. It now looks like Ream is not our biggest problem. Our problem is that we are stage-struck, star-struck, and it looks like we still harbor the same fear of the prem same as 2 years ago. There is a glimmer of hope, there is a light flickering in this team, if only we can piece together the jigsaw. Anguissa is on fire, but he needs more help. We need to be careful with him because he looked like he had a little cramp out there against Leeds? The guy is putting in a double shift, and i think Parker needs to find solutions to help him. Tom Cairney can be the solution if we can build his confidence. I still think that Cairney can be a big player for Fulham, but we first need to find a spark from someone, anyone will do. Onomah can find his groove again, but how do we build up these guys who are down at the moment? These questions call for experience and the harsh reality is that Scotty will need to find something. I like the spark in Kebano but sadly it just ain't enough. The quality the premiership demands is so crucial. At 4-3 and minutes running out, we have to nail it, not post it. (shot hit the goal post) There are so many dynamics going on in this Fulham team that isn't working and i am pick ing out a little. Kamara is playing the winger and he is doing over-time tracking back and not a lot makes sense at the moment. Find somebody with the confidence of Berbatov, a Rodney Marsh?, etc. Fulham have traditionally welcomed some seasoned pro's that can make an impact and inject some much needed confidence. The Premiership is likened to the big Arena of Rome, and we need a Sparacus to revive our team at the moment. Could this big guy 'Tah' be that man? It will cost us a fortune, but hey' we are in the prem now. 'GO' GO' GET SPARTACUS' JONATHAN TAH'!!!!!!!!

We have only played two games and let in 7 goals. Everyone except that is the management team at Fulham know that we need at least 2 premiership quality centre half's and have done since we were promoted last time. Bryon good going forward but does not think like a defender. Watching the games against Arsenal and against Leeds the defensive coaching has not got a clue on how to defend, the organisation was poor, this has been Fulham's problem for years with the exception of Tigana and Hodgkins. Games are won in the penalty area by good defending and good finishing all with PACE. Not by pretty football and lots of possession. There exceptions to this like Man City, even though they have great skill they lost the Title because of a poor defence. There is still time, three Quality proven players One in attack and two in defence we have a chance, if not we will be chasing promotion again next season.

The next 5 games are critical,if we do not strengthen the defence we will be lucky to amass 5 points from a possible 15. AV = draw, Wolves = loose, Shef U = draw CP = loose, WBA = win = = 5pts any other permutations.

Have just read a report where in one of yesterdays matches OSCAR was named M.O.T.M,it stated he constantly coved the full length of the pitch with no apparent sign of exhaustion just what we need in defense.OSCAR is a alpaca who escaped from a field and wandered on to a pitch where a match was in progress..Parker when asked to comment said we only want wingers or midfielders our defence being as solid as any in the premiership.

I have just watched the game on TV, with a couple of Brighton fans, who were really worried about the upcoming season, and they expecting to lose at Newcastle but after today, it was smiles all around, apart from me, as I was expecting Brighton to lose as well, and my bookie is now £5 richer. Watching the game though, it looks we have dodged the bullet by not signing either Wilson or Fraser, who looked no better than we have already.

What a funny league this is, you don't have to play, but then someone else gets beaten and you move up a place in the table. If we stopped playing for a couple of weeks we might end up half way ! ! After watching the Saints v Spurs match it seems that our defence is not quite so bad after all, and it looks like most clubs have troubles at the back. Manchester Untd for example are looking for a new CB, and a striker, so we are up against higher bidders, so it's going to be hard to entice players into our squad, when United are in there as well.

And here lies the conundrum Mick, a lot of clubs around us will be chasing center-halfs from the same pool of players offered. Parker and Khan will need to use their best lines from charm school to get players down here now...

Same old comments every day. Poor defence, no support for Mitro. Side, side, back, Victor Sylvester. Well, having watched both games so far, the second half team v Leeds was our best so far, basically in the manner in which, as a unit, they decided that to win we have to attack. But unless SP stops pissing into the wind, that is sees that Hector and Adoi will not save us and buys a forward who will run and turn defenders, the same old comments will continue.

Parker has to toughen up the squad, he's needs to follow Roy's example, train them on the basics and keep repeating until it sinks into their little brains to improve awareness and this will reduce the unforced errors. Fitness is also lacking and this must improve to compete in this Division. We all seen how slow we build moves, I suppose that could to ensure Mitro is up with play. Inverted wingers don't work, Tete has provided 2 crosses which have lead to Mitro's headed goals. Cavaleiro or Knockaert as inverted wingers are a waste of time. In fact I would play Bryan as LMF with Robinson behind him at LFB. To play on your natural side either left or right must speed up play and that's the only way to unlock defenses . Then perhaps Parker could go into the next press conference with a more positive attitude.

When we lose we are the pits, when we win we are the second coming. The truth lies somewhere in between but most fans are emotionally driven. We must play a whole game with high intensity for the whole game, reducing the errors to a minimum and we will win whoever the opposition. So far we have played in good and bad spurts, giving the opposition the initiative.

Cavaleiro Kamara should be sold and we should buy Josh King . As we have signed Bryan for 3 years if and when he when he plays he should play on the left wing because he can at least cross the ball contrary to Cav and Kam. the new signing Robinson should be allowed to establish himself at left back and hope he can defend better than Bryan . Ream thank you for your service but you now need to play in the lower level American League and we need to sign a big left footed CD ideally with Premiership experience . SP should have had all the players he wants in situ for the Arsenal match and he should know his best side by now !

How ridiculous that Merson on Sky said Bryan dived for our penalty and he should have been sent off. Some of these ex football pundits really aren’t the brightest. If anything Bryan tried to ride the challenge but Koch’s leg caught him late on ......and of course it was a stupid tackle to try and make in the first place if you are not sure you going to get there first. Unfortunately so many ex players don’t really seem to know what is going on and certainly most don’t even understand the rules/laws/interpretations of the games. Far too many unintelligent people involved in football.
Replies
Agree entirely but there is also another element to this and that is most pundits, commentators and media have a downer on fulham. They only ever talk about the opposition. Check out newspapers after a game and we only ever get a tiny mention even if it’s a big review.

Joka, you are so right. I am fed up with football pundits, Shearer and Wright included, making inane comments when it comes to penalties. One of their favourite comments is "that it was a soft penalty". One of Shearer's favourite comments is where a striker has been shepherd away from a good goal scoring position and then fouled near the by line whilst still in the penalty area. He will say " no he wasn't going anywhere". In my opinion referees are far too lenient and if they gave penalties for the numerous fouls committed by defenders, when they are defending a corners, then it would stop attackers being pushed and hauled to the ground. The referee got both penalties correct yesterday although Bryan's was very obvious and utterly stupid. When will players learn! The same applies to managers as it the case of the WBA manager being sent off. Managers cannot approach and argue with the referee and I suspect the referee warned him before sending him off.

I wasn't able to watch yesterdays match live, so I watched MOTD with some trepidation, thinking that we were going to be absolutely awful, as some posters on here were saying, and I know that it was only the highlights, but what I saw wasn't half as bad as I thought, and we seemed to play very well at times and the guts shown in the fight back was good to see. However when the so called experts were summing up the game afterwards, including our own Danny Murphy, they showed the Leeds goals, commenting how well taken they were, but then totally ignored talking about either of our goals, both of which were well taken. Why do the MOTD lot take great delight in running us down, and then even when we do win, which we will do quite a few times this season, it won't be how well we played, but the opposition had an off day, and they don't usually give goals away like that. Typical.

We all know (except TK) that we need two more defenders to achieve anything in this league but again we are hanging about signing any. The longer we leave it the more difficult it will be. Players listen to pundits, keep losing and they will look elsewhere, we will end up with some sub standard unknown centre back who has no experience at top level. All through last year we have known what the problem is and yet we still didn’t make moves to sort the problem out as a matter of urgency. Yesterday’s game highlighted our dilemma. Hector is not a leader defensively and is at times too casual, he is giving the ball away far too much, he gives away silly free kicks in dangerous areas. An experienced player next to him will help him immensely. Humping the ball up to the front men is fine at times if your centre forward is quick enough to challenge for the ball, Mitro is not this man, he needs someone next to him who can chase down the opposition defence. AK is left on the wing and spends most of his game time covering the Poor defence and tracking back, this leaves Mitro isolated. Cav was also not very good and keeps running across the pitch rather than go forward and getting a cross in the box where Mitro is at his best. We have to build from the back before it is too late.

Parker’s post match comments.......by his own admission he alludes the players just aren’t good enough at this level and there is little coaching he can do to remedy it. I agree partly with what he said, top players see danger like a sixth sense and our players don’t. However, good coaching and team shape can help players cover this deficiency. Yesterday (and not just yesterday) our team shape without the shape was non existent and for professionals at this level that is a critical failing. As I have stated if we don’t bring in at least four big players we will be relegated with Parker.....alternatively if those players don’t come in we need a coach that can coach this very average squad of players. We mustn’t become the laughing stock of the league like last time and we are heading that way.

Man Utd losing to Palace will raise more eyebrows in the football world than Fulham losing every week sadly to say. If only Solskjaer had snapped up Zaha when he had the opportunity last year? This is where Roy Hodgeson played a master-stroke by pricing Zaha out of reach everyone would say. What was it? 80 million? Scott Parker and Solskjaer are young managers operating on different budget scales. I think the problem with utd buying Zaha was pride. Zaha was let go by utd and they were reluctant to pay a high price for one of their own who they let go. This is proving a costly mistake for utd and a severe lack of patience with a talented young player. Fulhams budget for recruitment is not so grand, even with our booty from our playoff win. I disagree that Fulham is not so attractive for big-time players, we are in the prem, we are located in London, and we have a big booty to compete in the transfer market. Our problem is that we are continually muscled out of the market by teams like Villa, Crystal Palace, and Sheff utd etc. Man utd fans say they need a good center-half and a Striker. So do we at Fulham, and maybe half a dozen clubs in the prem. Our big problem going in the market now after these opening games is that any half-decent striker available now, will cost us a packet. Josh King? How much now? King is age 28 and he will want the best deal possible to end his career, and why not? We need to gamble on guys such as josh king and hope his fitness don't come into question. Unless there is an unknown foreign player out there that everyone has overlooked? What are the odds on that? Parker v Solskjaer, who is better? Solskjaer is also young and he is operating on a bigger budget than Parker. There are bigger star players under Solskjaer and yet he cannot get the best from them. Pogba has recently won a world cup, yet he is rubbish at utd? I think that Scott Parker will prove to be the better manager in time. The problem with timeis, will Parker get the luxury of enough time in the prem?

Unlike many of our fickle supporters I consider our team should be given time to adjust. I said at the start of the season we would know our fate after the first six matches and was inform by some that was insufficient time to make a judgement. However, I note that some posters have thrown in the towel after just two games and whilst I agree that today's performance does little to inspire confidence I believe there is still time to resolve the problem. My main concern is whether our coaching staff are incompetent or are the players too thick to absorb the instructions. Going back to the 40's and 50's, pre the arrival of the Hungarian masters, we played a simple system of 2, 3 and 5 with the half backs supporting the forwards when attacking and the inside forwards falling back to assist the defence. Everyone knew what to do but with the arrival of the Hungarians and being thrashed 6-3 at Wembley and losing the return 7 - 1, the game which Jezzard was unfortunately was called up, the FA decided we needed to change and adapt and the old system went out of the window. Many different systems were and have been tried and the top teams have been successful in changing and becoming proficient, normally under the tuition of top class coaches/manager many of them foreign. Fulham proved very successful under Tigina but I am afraid the current players are unable to play any worthwhile system and unless these changes very quickly we have major problems. Either Parker and the coaching staff are at fault or the players are incapable of understanding whart is required of them. In my humble opinion the single biggest contributing factor was the abolition of the simple offside rule of which the late great Brian Clough said " if a player isn't interfering with play he shouldn't be on the pitch " Sorry for doing an Owen

Good post Big Boy! It should be back to basics for our dunces of footballers. Bamfords goal was a basic through-ball to him, nothing special there. Bamford looks all of a sudden like a seasoned prem player because we ball-watch too much. It is almost like we are star-struck by the prem? Funnily enough, if the Kebano shot had gone in off the post? Or Mitrovic had latched on to the volley correctly? The pundits would have picked this game as an exciting thriller to the premiership, but they would also put money on both teams to go down. Leeds also have a crap goal difference by the way...

It is still to soon to judge as if two really good centre backs come in we will be a very different team. The real problem is the players we have do not seem to realise we need to give maximum intensity and concentration to the whole match. Any lapses at this level you are punished. What you get away with almost always in the Championship you will rarely get away with in this League. Parker needs to hammer this into the players head until they hurt.

Parker said post-match that due to Leeds pressing/man-marking system, he chose players who could dribble by their markers. Great thought, Scottie. Except first, they need to get the ball and control it, and then they need to pass it to someone once they beat their man. Onomah, Cav and Abou are more physically imposing, but far less skilled with an actual football than TC and Bobby and Neeskens. Scott got it backwards, that’s our B team he started, those three belong in the Cup match Wednesday. Lemina should’ve also been introduced in the Cup - he clearly wasn’t ready. It’s okay to lose to the top 6 due to quality. Our squad is just as talented as Leeds, if not more. This loss is about Bielsa vs Parker, both team and tactics.

Maybe we should consider bringing Seri back ! after all we pay his wages and maybe he will be better second time around like Anguisssa

It worked for Anguissa by loaning him out. I can't see the harm in giving Seri another go, that scorcher against Burnley sticks in my mind. Sometimes intelligent players need more intelligent players around them???

Seri is better than anything else we have. So, a team that could compete might look like Areola, Tete, Bryan, (two new centre backs), Reed, Anguissa, Seri, (new wide player, Babel?), Cavaleiro, Mitrovic.......and of course it becomes a team that doesn’t resemble the core of last season. It was always clear to me that the team needed wholesale changes because last seasons team just isn’t good enough for the PL. But we also need a coach who can manage these changes effectively.

Anguissa showed signs in our last disastrous PL season of improvement. Seri game after game showed he was totally unsuited for the Premier League. Playing a season in a hot climate will not of prepared him for the pace, power and skill of the Premier League anymore than the last time when he was all at sea. All the players in our squad are better than him. Do not play him even when we are desperate as he will not help even in one tiny little bit.

So the plan last season was to get the team back to where it apparently belongs.....In The Premier League. Surely there was a plan in place once we achieved promotion? So far I've seen no evidence of that. Let's not spend 100 million again because it went wrong last time, No.....The powers that be got it wrong. So instead we are giving the players who got us up the chance which is really honorable of the club but if they aren't good enough then the results are going to remain the same. Gonna be a long season, get used to Parker using the same old cliches after games. We need to learn from this, we need to show character etc etc.

Anyone thinking we can even finish 17th with Parker and the current squad is deluded. We need at least two top centre backs and a top striker to compete with Mitro. Anguissa needs to stay as he is much better now he is playing with Reed. We do need to find that other midfielder to blend with those two. In the absence of getting those players we will need a new coach....Allardyce? Eddie Howe? Or go and get Dyche from Burnley who might be tempted by the project and the funds he would get.

At this rate we will be relegated by Christmas. Don’t say players have to settle in. It is the same for all teams who have bought in the transfer window

Don't think the Leeds defence were much better, as the score attests.

Academy- build em up sell em off. ??? Recruiting/ scouting- no creation of culture just playing the short game. No improving players. All we’re looking at is today. We should see something in a player. Buy for 5 sell him for 30. Director of football operations- a guy with no experience probably calls it soccer. Just hire a real football guy with a pedigree. Fix those 3 areas. We need to be more like Dortmund and Leipzig not palace and Brighton And f**k off with your “we’re a family club”can’t we be that and also be competitive? All your responses to my last thoughts of Fulham were met by a bunch of old ladies swinging their handbags. Defeatists, wet blankets, kill joys, mincers give your self a name. You may accept how the club runs now but I don’t. I told you about daddy Khan. The proof will be in the pudding and 90% of the supporters on here are used to having sand kicked in their faces. Who was that player- coach for Chelsea in the early nineties? Standing there seething as his club were 2 nil down at home. He ripped off his suit came on and scored a brace. That’s the kind of attitude I can get behind. I don’t care what colour our strip is or any of that kind of nonsense be a fighter not a lover

Chill a bit Vinny. You're making very good points but you're inviting handbags at dawn if you're too abrasive. Loved the "soccer" put down. Right on the money.

All know my opinions of parker, and yet Roy with his knowledge and acumen and players not much better than ours can mix play and hold his own with the big boys, how long do we stick with the apprentice and his incompetent backroom staff .

man utd getting thrashed, nice one Roy we look bad, but have a chance wit Mitro, Zambo and some more CB's and more goal threat think west ham and brigton will get turned over this weekend and Fulham will end up outside the bottom 3 too. COYWS. Tony needs to get to work though and get signing up the players we need or we shall be doom barred.
