"The way we played yesterday we could beat anyone which is what I hope we will do from now on."

This is irony right? We scrape a one nil win, with deflected shot the the goalkeeper should still have stopped, against a team that will go down this year and, because we had 78% possession and umpteen golden chances to score, you think we will beat anyone and everyone! Perhaps, if we drop Gonzo we might beat a couple of the other dodgy teams, but even then we have a bunch of players who haven't the slightest idea how to score, and correct me if I'm wrong, you need to score goals, and generally more than the opposition to win?

Did you watch Notts Forest v Arsenal??? They won 0-1 from a deflected shot and had the majority of possession. They are going to win the league…. It’s football and yes we scored more than we let in. Just saying

The opposition manager believed his team had been outclassed by us. Managers do not say such things unless they are true. If we continue playing the way we did yesterday we will win a great deal of matches. That is logic not speculation.

We’ve made mistakes like all teams do even top six. Of course we must always look to improve, and hopefully the manager is adapting to the premiership? Now it was a good performance Saturday, so far we’ve only lost by the odd goal all season very competitive. Even lo the tactics have sometimes been a worry. I still feel we have a talented squad. And with a little luck and no mistakes by refs and VAR we can beat anyone on our day

Well now that's under the belt. Looking forward to never losing again.

I’m with you Fred. The fact is, even against the poorest of opposition we do not score enough goals. Unless that is resolved, we will continue to struggle, no matter the defence and midfield are pretty solid and there is some class there. Defence tends not to win matches. Goals, goals and more goals is what is required.

Why will we win more matches if we play like we did on saturday??? bit odd remember we went all of the game missing sitters over and over again hanging on to a one goal lead,so if we do the same again knowing how shot shy we are no chance of winning against better opposition ..

What an astute manager we have. He correctly identified how in recent years we came out of the blocks too fast and got found out. Now he has turned the tables and we are getting into the driving seat, so lets look forward to many more great victories. COYW. I SUPPORT.

We won, we controlled the game and the opposition had one shot in the whole game and that was wide. That is about as one sided as a game gets. It would be nice if we could have scored more goals but we won easily without them. You do not have to score lots of goals to win a game, just enough.

Not if the opposition doesn’t score any, however……..! Think about it.

With possible exception of Sunderland, we have played the same all season yet, we’ve only got 5 points from 7 games. Not sure that is form that will win us more than we lose. We played a poor team in Hull who, as you rightly point out TTIN, had no ambition and no credible shots yet we scored one goal that was covered by their keeper until deflected twice. Think you should take off those road tinted specs!!

So looking forward to the ball flying into the net many many many times in the coming games under our fantastic manager AA. Good on you and may you spend many happy years at Craven Cottage.

We've played this type of football for a long time way before Arbeloa. We always carve out chances and don't take too much of them, this is typical Fulham and not much different from the Marco era. Fred has made a valid point and basically the argument is, would the subbing of Gonzalo for Muniz who is a much bigger and stronger centre forward have gotten us a few more goals and maybe 2 more wins? I wouldn't go as far as to put labels of genius around Arbeloa who has constantly made the wrong substitutions in games before Hull. Cairney was a logical sub
against Hull but he was not available because of injury before that game.
Arbeloa will insist on playing the Spanish contingent and i don't blame him, he believes in his boys first over ours but it is a risky gamble when we eventually play stronger opposition. I am not saying that Muniz is miles better than Gonzalo but take into consideration that Muniz is coming back from a long term injury and Marco Silva who we love liked him a lot more than some fans did. Would you have said that you trust Marco's judgement?
Was Marco stupid for holding on to Muniz? We know we can play like we did against Hull and we have beaten the likes of Arsenal etc before Arbeloa came on the scene so no surprises there and we are a possession-based team especially against opposition around us. Yes' give Arbeloa some credit but no great surprises in how we played. At 1-0 we are always at the mercy of a sucker-punch and it could have gone so wrong but it didn't. We might not be so lucky next time. We have to kill teams off going forward and yes Gonzalo is young
but he is put out there in the lions den so he must perform and goals must come from him. I can never recall Muniz getting anything near 90 minutes in many games.

Okay Owen fair points. However, when certain harm doing, toxic and morally depraved calls for the head of a person in a new job after only a few weeks are spread out via public forums and reach the main stream media and in turn spread unrest and unwarranted feeling which all add the the huge pressures of the said job, how is that fair for manager, club, players? Our great club. When I see this happen, I will always go way over the top in the other direction, and try to offer some counter balance to a very one sided view point. So if I see cruel nonsense, it's coming back two fold and what ever is thrown back at me or however many times I get deleted, unless I get blocked altogether, i'm throwing it right back myself with huge interest on top.

Lazio, we all want Arbeloa to do well and i think most fans who have criticised his tactics are willing to eat humble pie if say Arbeloa and Fulham go on a winning run of games.

That's great then Owen. The humble pie bit sounds just like the words of another poster. However if what you say is correct I will not have to react to any harm doers. I sometimes wonder if the site is run by people more interested in FFC's demise leaving the space free to develop.

Owen please do not keep going on about Muniz, he is the worst striker I can remember.
posted by The Time Is Now - Monday 19th October 2026, 10:47 PM
He is not worse than Garcia. Not saying much but no way he’s worse.

I would not even agree with that Garcia get in the places a striker should be Muniz goes wherever he fancies.

Lazio, you have used a lot of very complimentary words that describe our manager Arbeloa as brilliant, fantastic, and astute etc. Arbeloa will not change and i think he will persist in Playing Gonzalo even if Gonzalo turns up with one leg, he will play him. If he can get Gonzalo to score goals, that would be brilliant, genius, superfrajalist ect, even i would sling kind words over him and boy, do we want and need a regular goal-scorer at Fulham.
