On Tuesday night we fought back and nearly rescued a point from Man City, this evening Marco took our potential match winners off and virtually conceded the game to Palace. I'd much rather go down fighting than what we did here.

He subbed on King for Smith Rowe in the Man City game and we lost! I eat humble pie concerning Harry Wilson and i am wrong about him not up to 90 minutes but i think i am right about Josh King, he is not a finisher.

Dropping too many points. I’m in the Silva out camp, ASAP so the new man gets a chance to mix it up a bit. Teams been stale for a couple of years.

There are weekends, like this when I begin to hate football, especially weekends when we lose at home to a team that we should have beaten, and but for a hairline offside decision, we would have won. There is no doubt, that we have two big six pointers coming up against Burnley and West Ham. We are easily good enough to win both games, but they are not on grounds where we don't normally pick up points, but this time we just mustn't lose either. We shouldn't be as low as 15th in the table, and we won't be at the season's end, but it is going to be a scary ride.

Silva out camp? Nothing like a bit of support to a manager that has given us 4 amazing seasons. We didn’t play that badly today Palace are a quality side who are now 4th,a narrow off side decision didn’t go our way nothing a win at Burnley won’t sort out.

You should beat Burnley, but it'll be by fine margins.

Let's be honest, if we don't pick up quite a few points against Burnley, and West Ham, both away, and sandwiched between those games Forest at home, then we are not be good enough to be in the Premier League. Hopefully after these games, we will prove that we are. I didn't go today, for family reasons, but without knowing the result, I have just watched the recorded match. How unlucky were we, and that offside was so, so, unlucky, and we looked the better team. There are still plenty of games to go, so absolutely no panic just yet. I have also been speaking to my friend, who is a Brighton ST holder, and he said that West Ham were dreadful, but Brighton were even worse, and they were lucky even to get a point. So we are not the only ones with bad results.

We dominated possession, We had more shots on target but only one of ours went in, We looked like the best team but lost. This is all very familiar. practise finishing for goodness sake day after day until everyone in the team never misses.

Silva doesn't see and think! What player isn't playing well enough out there and should be taken off? It was obvious! No' Silva takes off players playing well and we lose the shape and lose. The big German isn't worth a gamble but we gamble on Josh King in a game like this. Glasner is a quality manager who knows what he is doing all the time. Marco sometimes is brilliant but he lost it in this game.

Marco has made many bad substitutions over the years but today we were in total control and he handed them the initiative.if he does piss off at the end of the season that is one thing iwill not miss
Replies
Yes agree with all that! Some needless substitutions which changed our shape push and tempo. Why does he do this? Rowe off for Kevin, another dribbler Josh King on, he is just not strong enough in there. Palace are too well organised and it was sheer class and quality and a wonderful goal from Wilson that opened them up, they don't concede many like that. Berg was having a great game, again why? When i saw Lukic come on i knew we had lost our shape to a well drilled Palace and an intelligent Glasner. Glasner always play the same side and only sub when necessary. I don't know why Marco subs when he does sometimes, i think he gets bored or whatever. You are correct, we lost this game because of Marco's incompetence.

Leno; Castagne, Andersen, Bassey, Sessegnon; Berge, King; Chukwueze, Smith Rowe, Iwobi; Jimenez. Is Tete injured? I understand that Muniz is injured so Jimenez must take the reins but i just wonder sometimes if he could do with a break? I could be wrong but if he is tired, it might be time to introduce our big guy Jonah into the action.

Jonah put in a reasonable shift Tuesday night. Feel he’s going to be handful for oppo defenders. Be good to give him 45 mins today to give Raul a bit of a break too.

I very much doubt King and Smith Rowe starting Together. We will have Wilson and Chukwueze in the wings and Smith-Rowe starting in the midfield with Iwobi. Johan is not ready for 90 or 45 mins but if we are in a winning position, Marco will give him 20-25mins. He could be a nuisance if we want to defend a lead.

Although,I should be used to it, Fulham never fail to amaze me. How can with change from world beaters to utter rubbish during the period of 90 minutes. No need to answer, as we see it so often. I stated that I thought the Spurs game was winnable and so it proved, but have dominated the first half with two excellent goals we then proceeded to attempt to lose the game. My son, who attended the game, whilst I watched on utelevision both agree we were rubbish in the second half. We were lucky to come away with three points but who cares. I had no expectations for the City game as we have an awful track record against them and once again anyone watching must have thought “here we go ago” Haaland and the rest of the attack tore our defence to pieces in the first half. Fortunately, Smith Rowe, who looked sharp pull a goal back virtually on the stroke of half time. What a goal as his run to meet a cross was perfectly timed and finished off with a diving header which proved how good he can be. However, our hopes were short lived as City added two more goals including an own goal. At 5-1, I am sure there were some early leavers who would have missed an amazing comeback with three excellent goals from Iwobi and two from Chukwueze. With the fans screaming for an equaliser with 15 minutes still left to play we should have equalised on two occasions but it was not to be. But what a game which evoked memories of another 4-5 epic when Newcastle beat us in the 4th round of the Cup. Once again we came from 0-3 down to equalise with a never to be forgotten hat trick from our beloved Tosh Chamberlain. Amazingly, we took the lead when Jimmy Hill scored but two goals from Vic Keeble denied us victory but it will always be remembered by us who are still alive. Reverting to the City game I thought Leno was at fault for two of the goals as he keeps sitting on his haunches instead of standing tall. Some of you might of picked up on Marco’s comment regarding the Wilson on/off transfer to Leeds. He said he was not aware of the discussions which were made by the Board. If this was the case, he has every right to be cheesed of not being involved. After last season performance against Palace and their current form I am not hopeful of getting much if anything. However, we live in hope.

Great memory recall about that game featuring Jimmy Hill and Vic Keeble Bigboy, Fulham wouldn't have been on my radar back then. You actually inspired me in what next to touch on next here. You brought up again Smith Rowe and his goal which proved how good he can be you say, and i want to tap some people's consciences and go on to say that Maybe Marco should put in the hours and minutes with Smith Rowe on the pitch more and that's my moan about Marco Silva in a nutshell. A few on here don't seem keen on Smith Rowe but it is blatantly obvious that the boy is more talented than we give him credit. I am not usually woke but the fat jibes don't help and guy's remember the 39 million pounds we invested in Smith Rowe. Just think on those 90+ minutes which goes into hours. It makes me wonder, how many goals we might have had from Smith Rowe? Answers on a post card Paddy O. Marco Silva is a good manager and i said good instead of great because some of his substitutions this season have not been great but like that song from Meat-Loaf 'Two out of three ain't bad'. Like they say about home-work at school, Marco can do better. Overall he has made some fantastic substitutions which have the desired effect.

According to Danny Murphy on Talksport, he almost said that Marco will be off to pastures new at the seasons end. Hopefully this isn't true, but if that is what he wants to do, we shouldn't stand in his way, as his heart won't be in it. In fact I would go as far as to say, if he doesn't agree a new contract by the end of January, the Khans should say thanks for what you have done at Fulham but we will be looking for a new manager. It will be hard to match Marco's experience, but we are a top Premier League club, and there must be someone around who would jump at the chance to take us on. However, I haven't got a clue who it would be, but please not Angie, but we will need a top man who is just as good.
Replies
If it is thought by many on here that our manager is on the way out, with hardly any interest in staying at Fulham, can someone please tell me, why he gets so exited, with his arms punching away, every time we score. If he so keen to say goodbye, why is he bothering to be so teed up in games.

Nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors but Marco has been with us for nearly 5 seasons and I’m sure he would love a big club/job whilst he still has credibility, look at Franks move to spurs some clubs are beyond quick repair but I wouldn’t blame our Marco to give it a go,not sure our chairman could meet he’s demands but one thing i do know is we will struggle to get another manager to last 5 years.

Have yoy heard that saying, 'Bite your nose to spite your face'? Marco still hasn't signed his contract and that leaves a lot of personals and stuff hanging in the air and this is the problem. The Khans must be wondering what is going on or why he has not signed ect. We get it, Marco might be holding out for a transfer budget for a midfielder and a striker in January but our problems might not be that essential or critical, depending on how we see our current squad. We know that the neutrals and some pundits don't see much of a problem; in fact some say we are decent. With the likes of Chuckwueze Kevin and Josh King, people might be wondering what we have to moan about? We know that we need that extra player but is it worth chucking a team in like our set-up for the likes of a Tottenham who famously sack every other manager after so long? Not just Tottenham, even Man Utd might be a poison chalice for the likes of Marco Silva who has dreams of taking over a bigger team. Another saying is 'Be careful what you wish' and Marco might succumb to the same fate like the Everton project. If the Khans have it in their heads to wait on Marco's decision, hunky-dory everyone is happy but if not?

Unfortunately due to a family function, I will not be able to attend tomorrow's match with Palace, but what a big opportunity it is for us to pull further away from the bottom 3, and to close the gap in the middle of the table, so I hope we won't be Fulhamish, and throw away our advantage. Hopefully I will be home in time to watch the second half on Sky.

On loan from Inter he seems to have come to life just as the right time, but as I said at the start of the season as long as FFC are 14th or higher we will be in the prem for 2026/27 season, no doubts about that. Can we sign him permanently, I am normally against African players who desert us every other year to play in the African Nations Cup, but for him I'd make an exception. Glad to see Ryan Sessegon's unique revival under Mario. I admit I was not expecting much but he has been a gem on a FREE. Great game against Manchester City, only a shame about the outcome. Still we have a very good goal difference, if that comes to it in March.

Definitely not a striker! Chucka doesn't look like a natural and clinical striker. Remember that miss in front of goal?
posted by OWEN - Thursday 04th December 2025, 7:32 PM

Got that slightly wrong? Meaning to say Chucka is good for goals but i wouldn't put him in that striker role. Interesting that Marco is giving Jonah our big guy a start. Sometimes it is hard to weigh our team up this season. We look world class when we are on our game and we score great goals that catch the public eye. Marco has a few moans about the shortness of our squad but their is huge potential and talent within us which we can eak out. Our biggest problem is our midfield and lack of dominance and control at the moment which suggest that we need somebody in there still. We can wait for Muniz and i wouldn't rule out Jonah just yet. So i think more goals will come. natrually from this squad if we have the patience to grow it. Marco Silva would be stupid to leave a squad like this now and i think a more patient and good manager would reap the benefits from our obvious and growing talents of a team.

Some of the players on tuesday performed as if playing a cup final, hence they may have suffered a physical toll irrespective of how fit they may be.Having said this, maybe the flanks should start definately on the left with chuckweve, and maybe adama right, with kevin and wilson as supersubs. ESR a starter and lukic can stay in the boot room. I know Marco tends to be quite conservative but maybe a rest could also do Leno good.

Again are Lukic and Berg good together? I imagine Lukic will be very useful if Berg is injured. I get that we lose that creative element when they both play together. Berg was fantastic without Lukic against Tottenham.

Been thinking much the same who goes down with burnley and wolves assuming that the case , well everton and w/ham cant see it it, got dosh to spare, brighton brentford and forrest think will be ok which leaves leeds and bournmouth and us, we are about to lose three big names and no replacements just make weights.Semymao will be out the door in january so bournmouth i think will drop down. We need an attacking mid/f a striker and a center back unload one of ours,so come on ffc start moving and sort Marco out . But of course three wins can help us but dodgy time .

A question and two comments if I may.. who are the three players we are about to lose? Wilson? Traore? The club needs to nail down Chuka or he’ll be off to a bigger club. No dithering, we need to sign him in January. Comments: I think Marco put the wrong side out against MC - too defensive Berge and Lukic - no creativity and, particularly, Lukicpl played poorly. I understand the logic of a defensive formation but City will open any team if they sit back. We should have played the same starting 11 re. Tottenham. We proved, in the second half, that our best form of defence against City is to attack them. There are rumours-comments that Silva is unlikely to sign a new deal. On Talksport yesterday, Murphy suggested this. Tottenham also seem to be sniffing around if Frank fails. One thing is clear, the only possible way we’ll keep Silva is to show real intent and ambition in the January transfer market

With Leeds beating Chelsea last night, which means that they have closed the gap between us to 3 points, although we have a better goal difference, are we sliding back into a relegation fight, although we seemed to be pulling away before the City game. Barring a miracle it looks like Wolves are going to be relegated, so that looks like only 2 places at the bottom are our concern, so am I worrying too much, or are we in danger of the drop ?

TTIN, I am tending to agree with you, as although for various reasons we haven't made a great start to the season, but we should pick up enough points not to be involved in a frantic end of the season, end of the table battle. We have in my opinion, a good enough squad, to be comfortably placed in the table. The games that worry me, are the games with bottom sides like Burnley and West Ham, who we very seldom beat, especially away, and for some unknown reason, Palace has also become our nemesis, which worries me about Sunday.

What’s clear this season across all teams is it is very difficult to integrate a large number of new players into a squad. Hence, our slow start. Look at Liverpool. Look at Chelsea last season and this. Look at Man U (but they are a bit of a basket case anyway). look at Brentford this season having to bring in a few key players. Etc etc. the positive is i think most go agree that Marco has now found his formula (as he has consistently done in previous seasons), so our curve should up on the up. My only concern is the Afcon up which will break up a large part of our team. But I think we are very safe!!

I just can’t understand why the energy regulator continue to allow bills to rise whilst the energy companies continue to make obscene profits over and above the investments that they make to improve supply. Although it goes against my better principles, these regulatory bodies need to be nationalised. Especially as I believe that most of the energy suppliers in this country are foreign and likely avoid the full amount of taxes that British companies would pay. Maybe I’m wrong?

its an indirect form of taxation. VAT is collected by the Government, so essentially the higher the bill, the more VAT get charged. Arguably, just more ripping off by our excuse of a Government.

Not sure I’d feel safe with Liebour running the various regulators. That said every single Regulator or Ombudsman that I’ve had the misfortune to deal with are exclusively geared to serve the industry they supposedly oversee. This really is corruption and political expediency of the first order. They all end up with Knighthoods, pay offs and ring fenced pensions. I sound like a Communist, could it be that I am being driven in that direction?:)) By the way, is this football related?:))

It seems that everything this wretched government does is wrong, and last weeks budget was a complete disaster from start to finish, and we are all going to pay for it financially. MST, I never ever thought that I would say this, but I have to agree with you, that our utilities should be nationalised, and taken out of government control. Why on earth did Starmer, ever come out with the statement "I will put country before party" when he and Rachel from accounts, are doing the complete opposite. They were lying from the start, and will continue to do so, I'm sorry to say.

Listened to Marco praising the fans reaction to our comeback performance against City and I sincerely hope he realises that it's the way we want to see us play. If only we'd started against City the way we started at Spurs the fans would have been behind us from the off. It was Chukwueze who got us off our feet, HE MUST START NOW. He has the ability to raise the roof and inspire Kevin to do the same on the opposite flank. Come on Marco let's go for the throat on Sunday

City did not let us play the way we did against Spurs it is as simple as that, Man C relaxed when they went 5 1 up and let us into the game rather to much.

It was a fantastic game of football and it showed the comeback from the small team us Fulham and we so nearly could have levelled it to 5-5 at the end if only Josh King could have hit it home more directly, but he didn't. Josh King is a good young prospect and he is favoured over Smith Rowe in time on the pitch which is a mystery to me. Josh is a good player and he will get better and better but he is no finisher and the data and minutes on the pitch confirm what i say. Some say Smith Rowe has improved in rapid time over the last two games but i see it differently. Smith Rowe has always had the tools in his locker and yes his goal record is not great but it isn't too shabby either, considering his time on the pitch. Why did Marco take off Smith Rowe who was clearly on his game last night? Maybe we missed a good chance to pull the game back to 5-5? We will never know. If anyone say's Rowe was tired, i question that theory because Smith Rowe always has a lacksey-daisey look and way he goes about his business. Call it arrogance or whatever you like but his way of speaking and persona isn't the norm in some people's eyes and thoughts, i imagine but excuse all that and you have a footballer that can go to higher places with a lot more encouragement and attention that will reap dividends for us Fulham if only he can have some more of the game-time Josh has been having. Why did Tete go off for Castagne? I would rather we have had a tired Tete down that right side than Castagne who cannot raise a gallop to the likes of Doku who will roast him every time, that was a daft sub by Marco also. It was a great game of football and most will say enjoy the game and i do but sometimes i think that Marco over-thinks on his decisions when subbing but that is a matter of opinion.

It is the balance between attack and defence is our problem. Also it is difficult to play a good game every week. Yesterday Leno and Andersen played poorly for them, if they played well we might have got at least a draw.

Sadly, apart from Lukic being rusty, I think every player played well and gave 120% from start to finish last night! It was probably the best match we watched in over 10 years? It was just a shame that we didn't get the fifth - otherwise, it would go down in history with the Juventus match. Also here we are talking about Man City - completely different level to where Juventus were. Smith Rowe had his best game for Fulham, which was extremely nice to see. I also think Wilson had a great game too. When Kevin get used to the prem, with him and Chuk either side, Iwobi and Smith-Rowe next to them and if we can get a top-notch young striker, we will have an amazing team to watch!! We lost but I think we have turned the tide and Marco's people management magic is working! Palace will be a great test!

Most of the time he is good but this punching out seems to be a habit of most keepers. I remember when they used to catch it. If we had been level at halftime would Manchester City relaxed so much in the second half. If we had equalised they would have raised their.

Pep said after the game how much he enjoyed it and it was a proper old style football match in such an historic. And proper football stadium and he would remember this night long after he packs up ( winning made it more. Memorable for him but that second half was special and personally think if Josh kings goaline clearence had gone in we and the amount of time left must have been at least 10 minutes we would have won city we’re shell shocked defensively they could not contain us

So what we learnt from last night, well the open top bus is still in the garage,we showed we did have some fight,we also realised we need to offer dosh for chuckwietzi and fast before any greedy oiks get there first.Well done lad you never gave up could have been 4/4 but for berger deflection,so much like juventus game in reverse alas it never ended well. Now for palace another dodgy game who know what effect last night had on the team?, oh another thing we learnt you get very bleedin wet sitting in wrong seat in riverside. coyw And of course it really ended just a 1-o defeat thinking about it.
Replies
It's not what we've learnt, but what has Silva learnt. Apparently nothing, he keeps playing the Berge/ Lukic partnership when it obviously does not work. His negative approach to the game cost us a result. With our record against City, we had nothing to lose but everything to gain, but Silva saw it differently.

I think the 1st half proved what lots of us on here have said for some time. Berge and Lukic together gives us nothing. Too much tip tap and staying in our own half. 2nd half what a difference! We started moving the ball quickly and getting at them ( how we started at Spurs) Marco has to decide on which one starts (maybe neither) and which one is the understudy. Personally Lukic should be on the bench in case Berge needs to come off, even then I think I prefer Harrison Reed with his extra energy. Now with AFCON coming up we're going to miss our 3 Nigerians, fingers crossed we can keep our gap over the bottom 3 whilst they're away

They support the defence so our attacking players can concentrate on attacking and only defend when it is absolutely necessary. That is the reason I believe but if I was manager I would not play Lukic and give Kevin a run down the middle in his place as he could be devastating playing as a number 10.

Well what can you say other than that was football at its very best, mistakes and all. City were City and had us over a barrel but I’m really proud at Fulham’s performance, here was everything, commitment, passion and desire that has been missing in recent games. From Fulham’s point of view, Marco got his subs right, ESR came good and Chukwueze showed us what we thought he had to offer. Kevin improves with every match and confirmed my belief that he will make an enormous contribution. Kusi-Asare showed promise and Josh King looked sharp and should continue to be introduced from the bench until he is stronger. You couldn’t wish for anything more from a football match, even though we didn’t win. How good would it have been for Josh to get the equaliser? He’s been a very unlucky player and the Gods should have given him that one. Would have done wonders for him.Anyway, fantastic everything I want from a football match. I’ve resisted the temptation to point out the errors.:))
Replies
We really looked if we might score an equaliser in the end, the crowd were brilliant and drove them on. We forced City to adopt our tactics to flood team with defenders. City are second in the League and at times looked as ordinary as Spurs. The Premier League is very weak or we are very strong, I am sure it is the latter but if it is the former take advantage of it.

Before we played both Spurs and City, I must honestly admit, that if we had got 1 point out of the two games, we would do well, expecting a defeat at Spurs, and maybe hold City to a draw. Now after both games we unexpectedly have 3 points so a 2 point bonus. The bookies have stretched our odds for relegation from 6/1 out to 10/1, so they seem confident that we will be OK. I know nothing is certain in football, but it does seem at this stage of the season, that Wolves will go down, and Burnley's position is also dodgy, so it really means that there will only one place to fill at the bottom, and if we could only start to pick up points away from home, that 3rd bottom spot, will not be us.

Somehow, as stupid as it sounds, tonight's loss, almost felt like a victory, which is of course nonsense, but at 1-5, I was dreading 7 or 8, but in the second half at one period, we were actually winning 3-0, which was quite amazing. Tonight though, we proved that we don't have to fear anyone at home, as we have now played the two top teams in the Premier League, and both Arsenal and Manchester City, will be grateful to get away with 1 goal difference wins at CC. The trouble is we play our jinx team Palace on Sunday, and a win against them, would really give us a confidence boost, not that we really need one. Two weeks ago I was a bit worried about about a relegation fight, but no longer. The middle of the table is so congested, that a couple of more wins from the lads, will see a big jump up the table.

Marco still doesn't know his best team out there and Chucka deserves a start from what he has shown so far in games. We say it so many times, Lukic and Berg together are too defensive, leaving Man City to run riot through our midfield. Marco has got to come up with a solution. They are a top team and they will slice through most defences and run the show so we can forgive a few mistakes by some of ours. Leno flapped at one but their keeper made mistakes too. Marco's biggest mistake in my opinion was to take off a in form Smith Rowe who was showing signs that he was coming back to his best against Spurs and he was on it tonight. Marco the tinker-man overthinks and messes the rhythm up too much.

Delighted with the win on Saturday but have to admit I'm surprised how Palhinha is doing at Spurs, hardly noticed him. Is it Spurs? Are they ruining another player that shone in our side like they did with Sessenong? Was interested to see him chatting with our coach at the end of the game, rueing not coming back maybe. So many players go backwards when they leave us don't they? Carvalho went to Liverpool and now he's a bit part player at Brentford. Maybe they shouldn't be in such a hurry to leave

Players should appreciate what they have at Fulham. We play to their strength and provide them with a great platform. Sometimes they get a little bit greedy and want to jump ship even though we wanted to keep them. Struggled to think of many players in the last 20years who went and became successful (only exception maybe the player at Brighton and Dembele).

Hello everyone, I am an American looking to support an EPL Club. As a Jaguars (NFL) fan I thought I would start at FFC and upon doing research around the league I’ve found myself still coming back to this one. Whether it’s the pictures of Craven Cottage, rich history, or young and exciting players, something draws me to wanting to support Fulham. Question as someone who doesn’t know much about the nuances of the sport: During my research it was a talking point that FFC had never won a major trophy despite being the oldest club in London. Due to supporting other disappointing teams, I just want to know if there is still hope among the fanbase that they will at least have a shot at one of those trophies? Additionally I’ve heard the fanbase referred to as bland/boring, would anyone care to explain why that is the reputation? Thanks so much!

Thanks so much @ ipitombi. That’s what I was getting at, not knowing how this team can keep you drawn in without competing for trophies on a regular basis. That makes sense now, and I have always preferred a more laid back fanbase than one that’s uptight and stressed all the time. @ Paddy, I do support Inter Miami as it’s the most local club to my area. However, the MLS never reaches the level of play that Serie A, La Liga, and especially the Prem see as the standard. No matter how many stars they bring over from Europe.

I believe that Marco has cracked the code. This is our best XI at the moment without a doubt. When Rodrigo comes back he should start over Raul but everything about the XI is perfect. Any thoughts???

Marco has learned a few things about the team and that’s what makes him a great manager. He clearly learn that with Lukic and Berg, we lose all the creativity in the middle of the field. However, when they play together they make the team solid. Marco learned that Chukwueze is way more experienced and adds so much more to the team than Kevin right now. Kevin will be a great player with a bit of coaching but right now, chukwueze will be the number one choice. I think Marco has found his first eleven. I am still hoping Smith Rowe will work harder and improve to get his starting position back. He’s played very well last night coming on for 20mins. I think Josh king has a great future but he’s not ready to make us a very good team. He lacks pace and strength but he works hard and has a good football brain like the short pass he made to Wilson last night. However he was brushed aside a few times last night including his one on one to the keeper. A great future but needs more coaching and strength. Anyway, it looks like Marco has found a formula which will set us well for a busy Christmas schedule!! Good test against city next! Coyw!

Totally agree regards Chukwueze and Kevin but would like to say I was very impressed with ESR tirelessly chasing down the opposition towards the end of the game. Big improvement.

Although I wasn't there last night, as I would have loved to have been, but I watched every nervous moment on Sky. I say nervous, and that was after Spurs had scored their unstoppable goal, as up until then I felt comfortable. The last 15 minutes was a bit like the Alamo, but our defence held firm, albeit with a bit of luck at times. Quite honestly I think that we have played better away this season, apart from at Everton, which was abysmal, but we have come away with nothing, at times unfairly, Chucky looks like a good signing, and once he gets up to speed, Kevin could also prove to be a good buy. Danny Murphy on MOTD, last night, says that it is now most important that Fulham's owners manage to get Marco to sign a new contract ASAP.

Agree JohnC' Lukic and Berg together is less creativity but sometimes we need both, depending on what stage of the game we are in and more so in a winning position. A better team might have took us apart last night though and i still think we need someone in the midfield with a lot more experience. Tom Cairney cannot carry the can for 90 minutes and up top Jimenez is working his heart out and he should have been taken off. Marco could and should have taken a gamble on our young German just for a focal point. Josh King is not the finished article and he is still way too light-weight up there. I put Josh King in the gamble saloon and my reason is that King has played 90x whatever minutes and no goals. Yes he has played well in parts but at this level we must be expecting more. If our young German is a gamble with zero minutes in the prem then so is Josh King. My conclusion is that Marco is a good manager but there are still elements of our squad we don't know about and have we got the best from the likes of Smith Rowe and ways to play him? History's great managers always get the best from a small squad needing reinforcements and Marco i think can get more from our players and there is still time untill the January window.

I know that we shouldn't be so low in the table, but we are only 15th, so today's results for the teams below us, did us a favour, and therefore were really helpful. In my book, we only require another 7 wins, to assure our Premier League place for next season, as 38 points will be more than enough, I reckon.

I thought in our hold on period we played very well and looked comfortable. Our defence, supported by the rest of the Team were fantastic but Spurs were really awful. Their manager was complaining about their booing fans but what does he expect them to do if they are so awful. Every time we attacked there was space on the pitch everywhere. Your do not wing any games just attacking poorly and not defending. Saying all that you only have to beat what is In front of you.

Special mentions for Sess, Tete, Andersen and Chukwueze I thought they all played excellently. In truth whilst we defended pretty solidly I was extremely nervous for long periods. 36 crosses into our box is just too many, another day and it would have been a different story. Anyway, not to be churlish, a great away win and hopefully the start of more cohesive performances from the team, as games come thick and fast through December/ January. Hope it’s the start of a solid run of performances, 30 points up for grabs.

I won't be going to this evenings game, as it would be after midnight before 1 drove home. I hope the lads can put up a good performance, as we desperately need one. Football form is outlandish really, with my fixed odds producing another loser. We really made mincemeat of Sunderland last weekend, and here they are coming from 0-2 down to beat Bournemouth, and we were rubbish against Everton, who beat us fair and square, and at the moment Everton are 0-3 at home to Newcastle, after beating Manure United 1-0 with only 10 men, so Football form means nothing really. If Huddersfield had beaten Wimbledon today I would have been over £50 better of tonight, but of course they didn't. Sickening.

I wonder if someone can explain to me please, why when we have a plug in hybrid car for which we pay over £600 per annum road tax as well as fuel duty every time we fill up with petrol, the recent budget announcement advises that we will also have to pay 1.5p per mile. It just doesn’t make sense to me so perhaps I’ve misunderstood? Yes, the road tax is high because the vehicle was over £40k when new in 2022 and will go down in 2028 to around £200pa but I still don’t understand why we have to pay road tax, fuel duty AND a PHEV tax? I might as well have bought a diesel car :0(.

Sounds like you need a mileage blocker, as does everyone who drives an EV and does quite a few miles annually. After all you only use it for the weekly big shop.

Agree, I’m in the same boat and it really isn’t fair. It’s Liebour hitting those who they perceive to have too much money.i don’t use this car very often , relying on my wife’s more often than not but it doesn’t alter the fact that EV drivers somehow end up paying more than anyone else.No way to reward the conscious. Next year I’ll be out of the surcharge period. My wife who has a Volvo V40 diesel doesn’t pay any road fund licence for the first 5years, that will go up to only just £120 I think. Lower than the nom.supposedly because of low emissions!? The whole system makes little or no sense. It will hardly affect me, maybe £60/70 a year but I still resent it to be truthful. You I think do some big mileage which is a bummer. The charges on public chargers make owning an EV, bearing in mind the intial cost of the vehicle all but pointless for many. Another brilliantly worked out policy.

Even my dealer said that he has a job selling them. Another thing MST, which will probably upset you, is that Reform have wiped out Labour, in the Sunderland local council elections, with Labour falling far behind. The answer is simple!! People with petrol/diesel cars pay 70% of fuel costs. So if you spend £1000 a year on fuel, which barely enough for 8000 miles, you'd be paying £700 in tax. So the 1.5p per mile would only give the government an income of £120 p.a. We forget petrol/diesel tax is a massive income to maintain the roads and top up the benefits system.
posted by JohnC (Guest) - Friday 28th November 2025, 2:47 PM

Not quite sure what point you are trying to make John. Assuming a hybrid car owner does those same 8000 miles then he’s paying your 70% plus a further 1.5p per mile on I’d estimate around 6000 miles. I have no figures to prove anything but I’d bet hybrid car owners probably get maybe on average 25% of their miles from direct charging. If they charge away from home they can be paying anything between 45p- 75p per kilowatt. I think the point of the discussion is that there is now little or no point in buying a hybrid vechile, which is what governments were trying to encourage. I’d also point out the purchase of a hybrid vehicle is significantly more than that of a straight petrol or diesel one. A full electric car is I guess still viable as the 3p per mile they pay seems fair, it being the only tax they have to pay.
posted by Mortlake (Guest) - Friday 28th November 2025, 3:35 PM

I don’t understand your point. Our car (a mini countryman cooper s all 4) barely does 20 miles on an electric charge. We did not buy it to save the world. We bought it because we like it. We never plug it in and charge it and run the car exclusively on petrol apart from the minimal charge it provides through braking. My point is that we pay fuel duty when we fill up twice a week and we pay £630 per annum in road tax so why the hell do we now have to pay a further 1.5p per mile that no other petrol or diesel car is charged? The policy has not been thought through and put in the budget idiots know nothing about hybrid vehicles.

Nothing we can do about the striker situation until January but in the meantime a lot can change. For instance our goal-get situation could change if lets say Kevin, Josh, Chukwueze, or dare i say his name, Jonah might well be useful and score some goals. I get a bad wrap for post & past on here so i won't even bother to post up what they say about Jonah our young star form Bayern Munich. Apparently, our news lot from Fulhamish don't think that Jonah has had any chance to show what he can do. They also say that Bayern don't sign rubbish players. Until January a lot can change yet and it all depends if Marco Silva can utilise and tweak our squad and tactics to score goals. Forgot to mention Smith Rowe? I am still not convinced that we have seen the best of him and he might have 10-15 goals in him. There is still a lot we have to find out about our squad yet.

While I wouldn’t disagree we need a striker but unless you have the right striker for the team, it wouldn’t work either. Just look at Liverpool. They have the best strikers in the world but as they have not gelled, they are all pretty hopeless at present. We need to buy a striker that fits our team profile. We done well with Raul but we needed him 4 years younger. We can’t just buy any strikers. Our play require someone who can give us a route one option. Neither players mentioned above are suitable.

A decent striker will have impeccable timing and good timing is often aided by good delivery. A good example of perfect timing form a striker is from a game in 1979 where Nottingham Forest played Malmo. John Robertson beats his man way out on the left wing to deliver a peach of a cross that saw Trevor Francis arrive at the far post to score the winning goal and Forest won the European Cup, that is excellent timing from Francis to make that run at the right time. I guess that rules out Kevin and Chuka as strikers. Both these two are really in the John Robertson mould which is not a bad thing, maybe Chuka is the better winger? I think we may have that striker in Muniz but he needs polishing up. The most complete striker in England right now is Haarland and you would have to pay big bucks for somebody like him.

To be honest, at the moment there isn't a striker around worth his salt. I deliberately watch the Championship, Divisions 1 & 2 highlights on ITV, to see if there are any strikers in the lower divisions worth taking a chance with, and I haven't seen one, so far. We will just have to muddle through until Muniz returns in February, unless Marco can find a gem somewhere out of the blue.
