Josh King for all his talent is not strong enough to carry the ball through the middle and we don't have enough power in midfield. We can argue till the cows come home that Loftus is crap and not good enough for Fulham which is a nonsense because he plays for AC Milan and they are up there with the best and besides, Loftus i think will have learnt much more for going to Milan. Arbeola is happy with our team and progress so far this season by the way and he acknowledges that we need to tighten up at the back but we know this is a long term problem.

Agree DMK, we have enough to build on and we will get better. It is always disappointing to lose to Chelsea who are a good side but not exceptional. I thought 3-3 would have been the result if only Robinson was more accurate with the lob not to be. We were very naive tactically at the back and this is not a new problem and it is easy to sort out when all players watch it back. Their second goal was schoolboy stuff, leaving two players unmarked. At this level we will get punished every time for switching off and ball watching but saying all that Chelsea are not amazing and they also make mistakes which we should learn to capitalise on. Arbeola will know and see our defensive issues no probs. We only acquired 3 players so far and i wonder if there is more to come in before the window shuts?

Arbeloa looks like have resolved this and our players worked their socks off from the 31st seconds of the match to the very last minute! We will be severely tested with the bookies money firmly on a Chelsea win. With a new manager, plus his acolytes from Real Madrid, none of us will be confident of a home win. I will be interested in how AA sets the team up which I hope will be an attacking formation. I suspected Andersen will feature, provided he has finished his suspension, which in my book will be a mistake and regret the departure of Diop. I hope my fears do not come to fruition. I am excited but we have been handed a tough six starting games which will test our mettle and will provide a guide to the rest of the season. To everyone who will be there be loud, be noisy and above all be respectful.

Who, in their right mind, would forecast Charlton winning at the London Stadium. As far as the Premier League is concerned, no games could have been forecast with any confidence, to my cost with the bookies. Coventry apart, who could have seen the Hull and Ipswich results coming. Can we follow the trend by beating, or drawing with our neighbours Chelsea tomorrow, but unfortunately I doubt it, but at least we must go down fighting, and not just roll over and take a pasting. Once this game is done and dusted, it will give us an idea, of the shape of things to come.

Could you imagine if it was the other way around and we needed rufuge would they be so generous, I doubt it very much even if you want to go to Australia, USA or Canada for a holiday you've got to be squeaky clean and jump through hoops just to get a visa.

I was very impressed as well particularly how well the new and old players settled so comfortably into the new system. The full backs have an important attacking role to play and the defensive midfielders attacked and defended deep when needed. Also, as in the previous games, we are pressing the opposition out of the game. I was very pleased to see the way the players have taken the tactic employed and the extra training day is to get to the level of fitness needed to play that way.
