A Grand National jockey has been banned after refusing to pull up his tired horse before it fell at the final fence.
Toby McCain-Mitchell has been handed a 10-day suspension for his failure to stop Top Of The Bill, who required treatment from racecourse vets after his fall.

Your complaint has been noted MST and I hearby withdraw all charges and disciplines against the jockey.

Furthermore the horse will be destroyed for faking tiredness.

Good thing footballers who fake tiredness are not put down.

Surprisingly, for a change, I agree with both MST, and Ian. No horse that is finishing in a tired state, should continue, and the jockey, being suspended for 10 days is a good punishment, although I am not aware of the case in point. If either of you watch horse racing on TV, you will see quite a few horses pulled up, during races, due to their caring jockeys looking after their welfare. This is of course only on the jump races, as they are all over 2 miles plus. This does not happen on flat races. To fall in a flat race is hardly ever heard of, and jockeys have been killed in the past, including the great Manny Mercer, years ago.
I stand by the fact that, and believe me I do about this, all race horses, whether on the flat or jumps, are treated with utter kindness, and I suggest to arrange to go to any racing stables, and see for yourselves, and there must be one near where you live.

I believe that to ban a race would be a racist act.
However, I do also believe that if you are going to turn up at Aintree with a long face, you should be refused entry.

Lets all calm down and stop being so blinkered about this.
There must be a way around these hedges.

Keep your horse on a lead and pick up after it.

Woman gang raped in Epsom in a church last night, Oliuwadamilola Ogunyankinnu, 27, of Southbury Road in Enfield charged with a stabbing on Primrose Hill, but let’s clutch our pearls and decide it’s important to bother to post about a few, out of tens of thousands of horses racing professionally, being humanely euthanised. Nice to see the priorities of the average Fulham fan.

It was outside a church , not inside .

Horses don’t have a choice , boxers etc do.

We should ban the killing injured horses during races. There must be people who will take them on who can afford vets fees.

Priorities. You don’t care about a woman gang raped. It was actually inside the grounds of the church but I doubt the location mattered to her.
