Looks like we are missing out on another decent striker. We need another top striker to share the load with Mitro, Dennis would have done that and would have given us a different type of striker as well

Just rumours again about signing this player but having watched some video footage of him, he looks the perfect partner for Mitro up front. Similar in style to Son of Tottenham and can work as a duo in the same way Harry Kane and Son operate. Look out for him, he looks top notch. I like the way Marco Silva is building this team.

The signing of Willan at the age of 34 years is not essential. Great player for Chelsea not so good at Arsenal and has been playing in Brazil. Our team is the oldest in the Premiership, we should be signing young and upcoming players NOT Chelsea pensioners! The injury to Manor Solomon is tragic, because it looks long term which his contract with FFC is not, just for one year. After Alfie Mawson this is unfair to our club. I note that Neco Williams is not exactly setting the world on fire at Notts Forest and they are looking to sign another left back. Maybe we were better off not going head to head on that one. At £17 mill he was massively overpriced by Liverpool, I agree he is one for the future but £10 mill is more realistic. Good Luck to Harvey Ellliot, as he broke his leg when on loan at Blackburn last season so he deserves a break.
Replies
Jeez, Willian will not play every game and he will be valuable around the squad (especially for the younger players). Neco Williams has played one competitive game away to Newcastle so how can you make a judgement on that? Players get injured, it's part of football, tough but not his fault. The only break Harvey Elliot deserves is his other leg after the way he left Fulham and the things he said about our club. Perhaps you should stick to the women's game Rich - after you notice that the "C" key is next door to "X" by the way lol....

Trying to be realistic, before the season started Big 7 home and away 0 points Leaving us having to beat the rest at home 12 wins 36 points lose 8 away games 0 points 4 points from away draws. A point at Wolves would be massive. At present ahead of the curve. Injuries to any key players, especially Mitrovic and Paulhinha now could damage us severely, do like the attempt to buy younger quality players that have not performed for whatever reason. Hopefully can give young players bench time with new rules, with opportunity of game time. Seems like easy Fulham have found the bite required, long may it last. Laughing stock no more.
Replies
If Mitro is injured, we can always work out a formation with Muniz, Kebano, Dec Reed etc. It's not gone unnoticed that to give some of our squad with fringe players a chance, they can deliver like Kebano who didn't feature under Parker. We have a good squad now and the window is still open a few more weeks. There could be additions yet to come...

Yes' i think he will be good around Pereira, Cairney, etc, what a midfield now. I also think that Muniz will benefit from Willian being around. Fulham have a long past tradition for signing star players past their prime. Apparently Willian is getting plenty stick from his own fans playing for Corinthians believe it or not. His prefered move is back to London for him and family. I think this could work out well for us and Willian...

Come on guys, we can do better than that in the welcoming stakes surely. 'Go get those 70's dress-up afro wigs out the cupboard and practice the samba i think it is? We don't need Willian to do a Usain bolt, we need him to stroke the ball around and come up with a few worldies every now and again. Willian should be good for 1/2 dozen goals no probs. Willian has won it all down the road. There is nothing like experience and influence. Our team needed an oldie and now we have more balance with experience. It's a win-win-win for me...

We just needed one player like a Willian with plenty of experience. Willian was desperate to return to the uk with his family. My only concern with the Willian signing is money and how much we are paying him to live in the relative comfort of London? We have plenty of good young players around the Cottage now who can well benefit from his experiences. To say that Willian is another Schurrle is ridiculous. Give Willian a chance and welcome him, you never know, we might just have an asset of a player who can be good for a season or two. I don't expect that Marco will play Willian in every game but if we use our intelligence, there will be certain games and dynamics suited to Willian that will aid our cause. I am surprised that none of the big players on here have not commented on Willian. MT' what do you think? Big Boy? Fulham's biggest fan Buzz Bee? If Willian flops then we accept and move on. Kongolo flopped and Mawson flopped along with others. Sometimes it is worth taking a gamble just like Brentford did with Eriksen. Eriksen might not work out for utd because it's horses for courses and you just don't know until you try...

We were exceptionally good away from home last season, when we caught a lot of teams on the break, and this is where we are going to miss Harry Wilson a lot for the next seven weeks or so, although I was quite impressed with Neeskens last Saturday. Wolves are not the strongest of Premier League sides, so it would be good to come away with at least a point up there, but a defeat would be rather disappointing.

Firstly Od Ernie thinks Fulham have done well with the recruiting so far; but I’m staggered by the amount of expert opinion and we have by some posters on these players. I certainly hadn’t heard of a couple of them before they were bought, but we have amongst us experts (I use the term loosely) saying that they were rubbish and should never have been purchased. I accept everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I would like to know how they can be so sure. I would have thought Chelsea would have been prett confident in their purchase of Lakaku for 100 mill and look how well that worked out. There hundreds of similar purchases, especially by Man U. The truth is you take a punt with any new signings and hope for the best

Easy to judge after the event. I just wonder what the average clubs success rate is. So many factors to take into consideration that nothing is guaranteed. What I do know is that this is the best crop of players we have ever signed in a single window. Let’s hope they all come good, even those yet to be signed. I think Marco knows quality and adaptability to fit his model. This will undoubtedly be the best team we’ve had in years. As you will deduce I am quite confident, more so than on our recent visits to the PFL.

Personally until I have seen him play for us, I have no idea, like the rest of us, how he is going to play. If Marco wants him, then I want him, as I trust Marco's judgement. Why do we always say that our signings are rubbish, instead of being pleased that another CB, that we have all been craving for, has arrived.

It makes me laugh when people come on her writing that the fans of a player's previous club say he's poor and they're glad to get rid of him like they've done some kind of poll taking in a large number of people. To my mind the soppy lads on here who continually criticise our club fall into two categories; Those who get some kind of warped pleasure out of provocation of other (real) fans and those that have like minded soppy mates who believe and think in the same way they do. Best thing to do is just ignore their inane comments and make your OWN mind up on a player when YOU have seen him play several games for Fulham and not take the word of no marks in society who have nothing more interesting to do with their time....

The premier league is so divided, with top teams getting 90-100 points, you don't need 40 anyway. In fact in the last 10years 35 have been sufficient to stay up in all but 2 seasons when 37 were needed. So I think 36 is adequate. So one down, 35 to go...

Born: 16 September 1994 (age 27 years), it could well be an early 'Happy Birthday Mitro-man' on Saturday against Wolves? For these wonderful and marvellous things to happen, We will need to keep supplying the big man then he will score at least 2 goals to make it '100th' for Fulham and history books, and then we can light up that candle on the cupcake and say' 'Happy early- Birthday Mitro, and hopefully many more to come preferably with goals. I am not joking when i say that Mitrovic can go all out and score goals in this prem after seeing how easy it was for the big man to outwit Van Dyke and the other defender we got for England who is the best apparently? Mitrovic will seriously have the bit between his teeth in this prem now and i think he can go spar toe-to-toe with Haaland in the goal stakes. Haaland is new to the prem and Mitro is the more experienced. 'Do the maths'!!! It's a no brainer for me' Mitrovic should get more than Haaland because the stats say so. 'ER' let's hope the stats don't lie...

Van Dyke was exposed on Saturday because the Liverpool midfield was so poor. Fulham put on a very athletic display which they will need to do every week. Marco might have something up his sleeve but we need people getting in the box much quicker. When they attacked, Liverpool usually had three. We had one.

A bit unrealistic and unfair to compare Haaland to Mitro. If Mitro can play for one of the big teams and he gets the service, he will score at least 15-20 goals. I have no doubt. But Mitro is unlikely be in one of the top 3-4 teams because nowadays is all about pace and they don't like to play long ball as that increases your chances of losing the ball, and how fast you can transition. Mitro is improving in this area as you can see he is much leaner after the summer (must have been losing weight!), which allowed him to cover more area and able to drop a little bit deeper. Silva is setting up the team to play to Mitro strength so I'd be disappointed if Mitro doesn't at least 15 goals this season.

In truth Man Friday who on this site really listens to the argument. In support of the comment there were a lot of mixed messages coming out of South Africa from the outset. Politicians saying a lot, complaining that Western countries had over reacted in immediately imposing travel bans. It looked as though they, the South Africans had talked it up and it bit them in the ar*e. Some thought it was them talking it up to get more free vaccines ahead of other third world countries. Possible. As has been said more conspiracies. We’ll probably never know. Follow the old guidance, don’t believe all you read. I was strongly advised years ago to consider who gains when accusations are banded about. More misinformation than ever now. Back to the football, don’t you wish all footballers were like Denis Odoi?

John C' i am also encouraged by Kebano and efforts. That ball off the inner post might have gained us the win but not to be, Kebano, D Reed and others are capable of gaining penalties from their trickery in the box. Get more players in the box with pace and trickery will earn Mitro more penalties and that is where our numbers and chances will go up. We can be very optimistic, especially with the likes of Kebano who's chances were restricted under Parker. We are growing in squad members which is good for competition and it was a great start against Liverpool. There should be no worry about the Wilson injury because extra competition for places is great for our team, especially when moral and confidence is up right now. In my opinion Kebano has done enough to keep his place for the Wolves game. I am not quite sure how to read Tim Reams's performance? Does a missed back-placed header in the path of Salah warrant a drop from the squad?

Of course Mitro will get double figures this season he’s only got another eight goals to score to achieve that with only one game played so far. Hopefully he’ll be halfway there by the time we’ve played Brentford.

Realistic, why just make an inane response which is indicative of the inability to engage in a sensible conversation with one of our more erudite contributors. I suspect you have not mastered the English language and therefore, maybe you should not post a response which lacks intelligence and does not contribute to the discussion. Disagree with Owen, by all means, but display a modicum of sensibility. Owen, carry on contributing with your comments which always provide a good read and are appreciated by the majority.

Hearing reports that apart from Harry Wilson's injury, and possibly out for another 7 weeks, we now have our new winger Manor Solomon crocked in a Chelsea against Fulham kick about. At the start of the season, this is all we need, and if Mitro pulls a muscle, and could be out for several weeks we could be in big big trouble. Is it time to panic, or will Marco try to bring ion other forwards before the deadline closes, and will all of these financial restrictions put a stop to that ?

Knee injury for Solomon. The club are in by all accounts in for J Kluivert. If he comes in we're covered hopefully.

Without a doubt Solomon looked lightweight. Easily bossed, and trying to be a bit too clever. Hopefully he'll get with the pace and pressure of life in the prem'. On the other hand Palhina and Pereira, along with Reed were imperious. I thought their domination of midfield covered for much of the weaknesses of our back 4, which is going to need shoring up sooner rather than later. I'll be very surprised if Duffy is good enough for that. His loan spell at Celtic was a bit of a disaster, he has no chance of making it in Brightons back 4, and so he's out on loan again. Anyone else sitting close behind the dugouts?..Am I right in thinking he looked confused and very nervous while getting his instructions before coming on?

What do we have to do to get credit for our performances? Will we continually be told the opposition are dire when we play well? We dominated Liverpool in the 1st half and didn't allow them time and space and both of their goals had a touch of luck about them with deflections involved. Not asking for much but a bit of praise when we've earnt it wouldn't go amiss.

I think you have to put in a number of good performances before you can expect Fulham to get some real credit, and not just expect a public holiday to be declared on the strength of one game. That said, if you were at the friendly against Villarreal recently I think you will agree with me that that was another similarly good performance. So that’s two in a row now!

I know that we have played only one match, and put up a pretty good display in it as well, but was this a game we were really up for, and we put all our efforts into one basket, and that was our peak already, or was this the beginning of the traces of being really good competitors in the Premier League. In other words do you think that we can survive the drop again this season, I hope that I am right, but I think we can this time.
Replies
Yes it is game one and no you cannot tell anything from it. Bournemouth were all over Villa, Brentford came back from 2-0 down against Leicester, Brighton beat Utd and I doubt if ours and all these fixtures were played in game day 10, the results would be the same. Unfortunately, we won't know anything until we break up for the World Cup in my opinion but I am hopeful we will be good enough for mid-table once our transfer activity has been ratified....

Showing that sort of all round commitment will win us a lot of games. Improvement in central defence is essential, both the Liverpool goals required no skill by them just errors by Tosin and Ream.

A bit unfair Liverpool opening goal was pace, movement and classy finish. It did show the difference between Premier and Championship standard. The second goal was a mix up that can happen. Ream and Tosin were unbelievably good on Saturday.

I remember looking at video footage of this guy when Fulham were in talks and thought then, he will make the world of difference to us. Yes, we have Mitro and other good players, but Palhinha will give us more steel in midfield and his strength will spread throughout the whole team. Team captain me thinks, and first name on the team sheet every week....Also, I know there are doubters about VESTEEGAARD, but I think we could seriously do with his physical presence at the back.

This season's Premier League could be a very interesting and close one, as at this stage of the season, it seems it's going to be very open, both at the top and the bottom, if we take this weekends results as a guide. We drew with Liverpool, when every pundit in the land forecast a thumping. Brighton win at Man United, which nobody expected, Brentford did well to collect a point at Leicester, and Bournemouth beat Villa. So all of the teams that we think will be involved in a relegation fight did well, apart from Notts Forest, but that was a hard fixture anyway. Even some of the top teams are near the bottom, but after one game played it makes little difference. I think that we will have a pretty good season, provided that we can make CC a fortress, and score more than 9 goals, as before ! !

We are now in the best league in the world, so they tell us, with, which has been pointed out, there being no easy games among the big boys. Normally clubs like ourselves aim to get to that 40 point safety margin, but with so many even stevens clubs this season, I reckon that to stay out of the bottom three clubs will need more like 50 points, and that is going to be hard for all of us, except the top 6.
posted by Brian Jarvis (Guest) - Sunday 07th August 2022, 5:46 PM

Brian, your argument doesn't make sense - lower league clubs will be scrambling for points with your formula because the top eight (City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, West Ham, Spurs, Newcastle and even Utd) are streets ahead of the rest. 50 points will likely get you top 10 (just) this season in my opinion. Bottom three clubs will likely be looking at 32 - 35 points and the bottom club might even beat Derby's record of 11 points. The size of squads and five subs will create an even bigger gap - compare Liverpool subs with Fulham's at the weekend....

Mr Klopp complains about the pitch at the Cottage, which is typical of him. He was furious about dropping two points beside the Thames, which is understandable. Our Manager seemed quite pleased with the result, but he should have been more honest – it was not good for us and also two points dropped after holding a 2 -1 advantage up to the last 10 minutes. We have will have to do better as Mr Mitrovic will be a marked man from now on. We have to stop losing concentration in the last 30 minutes. Apart from that an improvement on last year no doubt.

What a difference a change of manager can make to a player. Mitro looked lazy, fat and uninterested under our previous manager, but looking at him close up, yesterday, he looked really fit, and where did that speed and ball control come from ? Well I think that I have got it right, when I say that we must heap that praise on Marco, who has given him all the confidence in the world, and he now really does look like a Premier League striker. I hope, if he keeps on scoring on a regular basis, we don't lose him in the next transfer window, from some club with a big black and white striped cheque book.

All clubs record the attendance as the tickets sold as I suppose that reflects their income, but as they record the people who go to the game through turnstiles that would be a much more accurate measures.

Clubs count both. Ticket sales and turnstiles. They have to know for health and safety purposes as well. The difficulty comes with hospitality packages and boxes whose occupants don't go through barriers but are counted inn via tickets collected. A corporate box for twenty may only have 14 show up. The club wouldn't necessarily know the true attendance until near the end of a game I imagine announcing the attendance isn't a priority.

To see his interview again on FTV, Mitrovic looks so relaxed and upbeat about the new season. His Ali tee-shirt said it all and he did sting like a bee to this match in the opening season. He does mention a good pre-season which sounded ever so comical to all the doubters before we kicked off. Mitro's early 2 goals will settle the nerves and is the best start to our season in many ways. 98 Goals now and only 2 more to break the hundred mark for Fulham, 'Wow'!!! I am upping my prediction from 12 to 20, 'yes 20' Goals, he will prove the doubters wrong and he is hungry to do so. MT was right to give Antonee Robinson a mention because this yank can spank most defenders in this prem. The prem is more for pace than anything and fortunately for Robinson, he is blessed with it. Robinson must keep on working at his defensive side of the game as well as bombing forward. Van Dijk and Trent Arnold knew they were in a game against us and their reputation for being the best around was truly tested. There are still a lot of games and space for Joe Bryan here at Fulham because it is not possible for any human athlete to put in 100% in every game...

I got a real close up look at Mitro yesterday, and he looked really fit, and the likes of the Liverpool defence have not come up against such a superb centre forward for a long time and they did not know how to handle him. Where did his speed and ball control come from ? In my opinion this is all down to Marco, who has given him all the confidence in the world. If he plays well over the first half of the season, then will we be able to keep him, now that's a worry.

I'm not too disappointed myself, if that is true, as he has certainly gone of the boil since joining Leicester, but the alternative is an even worse Diop, if that on off transfer is the still going. The way Tosin and Ream played yesterday, we are certainly not in panic mood just yet. Marek also played well so is Leno now going to be a bench warmer, or will they play alternative matches throughout the season.

I am afraid managers rarely admit the opposition made us play badly as that tells everybody else the best way to beat them. Just say it is a bad day and tell everybody to forget it as we will be better next time. Even when we beat teams last seasons by huge scores the opposition managers in the main talked about how badly their defence played. A few said we were a different class, but that could be a sacking offence.

Why beat ourselves up and scrutinize our good and satisfactory result against a decent Liverpool side. It was said that a Liverpool 'B' side and 'C' would tank us every day of the week. Marco Silva, Boa Morte, and all coaching staff earned their pay against a Liverpool that a lot of teams would have approached carefully and cautious. A Scott Parker side would definitely have come with a more cautious and defensive approach. Perhaps the genie is out of the bottle now and teams will be braver and bolder when playing Liverpool all thanks to Fulham lol. Bournemouth and Parker came away with a decent win and points against a Villa who have not won in 12 prem games from last year now i think? Maybe the bookies have got it all wrong on odds on who will go down? Villa might well rue the day they got rid of a more conservative Dean Smith who i think is more suited and booted to their club. Gerhard will need to fire a rocket to get the likes of Coutinho going. Sometimes these luxury players are a bane and a distraction to clubs, just take a look at utd and Ronaldo. Lastly i will say that clubs such as Fulham, Bournemouth, and so called yo-yo clubs, are not necessarily disadvantaged or inferior to the premiership. We live and learn a thing or two and besides that, i think it is only the true top 8 prem teams that are above and elite from everyone else. And the reason for that is money and piles of it...

I think the so called expert pundits did not notice we did not just win the Championship we dominated it and outclassed most of the teams in it. Our players yesterday with the addition of a few new signings looked like a good Premier League Team. We will do quite a bit more than survive this season particularly with the addition of a few quality centre backs and a quality standby for Mitro who is great but not invincible and if he gets injured in the next game for example we are scuppered.

Had the team ready with a perfect aggressive mentality. Not passing side to side, only looking forward. Had Rodak kicking long to Mitro, starting attack further upfield, not messing about in our penalty area. Players looked fit as well, even in the last 10 minutes. Chose the right XI. Standout start to the season. Palinha and Reed worked beautifully winning balls. Our fullbacks both played very well. And Mitro was Mitro!

What' Palhinha and Reed working together? 'Well, i never! The signing of Joao Palhinha was and is the most important signing ever in this Fulham era. Our number one problem in all promotions are the constant over-running attacks from opponents that sythe through our midfield leaving our defenders helpless.

We played better than Liverpool. That we got only a draw out of our great hard work throughout the match was disappointing, but I look forward to our continuing success.

Didn't like the fact that we gave the ball away on the right hand side so often and that goes for the left hand side too. All in all, good result but need to sharpen up.

I must admit when Elliot came on his wing seemed empty, consequently he made a lot of dangerous runs.

With some players that we could have signed, being put off, by the fact that they would be joining a side struggling against relegation all season, but if today's display is an example, maybe we won't be, and players might think that we are not too bad after all, and give us a go. Well done the lads today, I loved it, and the atmosphere at CC was amazing.

It’s just one game that we didn’t actually win, it changes nothing in the great scheme of things especially if we go to Wolves and lose

Would love to see Al Musrati so we have options in case of injury.
