Why are so many people convinced that Manchester City will be relegated at the end of this season? Even a 40/50 point deduction will keep them comfortably mid-table at the end of the season. Many people thought Forest and Everton would be relegated and look how that turned out and neither of them have City’s political clout. The PL need big teams like City in the league so call me sceptical but I’m not convinced they’ll be relegated personally.

Wpould like to think that a multi-year points deduction - say 30 pts for three years would see them miss out on European Comps and gradually denude their team as players leave for a better chance of trophies.
Just a thought, probably more like wishful thinking

Not for a minute do I know think that City will be relegated, as the Premier League wouldn't allow it. They will no doubt get a points deduction, and a rather large fine, making sure that they will not win the title this season, but that will most probably be it. I hope that our fans are not relying on City's demise, to save us from a return to the Championship, as in my honest opinion, we will be good enough, to save ourselves, without anyone else's help. If that is not the case, then we will certainly not deserve to survive.

If they get points deducted, Fulham should snap them up cheap, before anyone else does. Buy ourselves time to work on our shooting.

a points deduction that simply place them in mid-table is a complete waste of time. You might as well just ban them from take a European place. Otherwise, only team that would benefit is Arsenal. If the appeal fail, they must be punished heavily and not just missing out on Europe for one season. The punishment needs to be painful and not academic. They must get 3 whips. (1) remove some of the titles they won (2) ban from Europe for 3 years (3) relegated to the Championships and transfer ban for 3 years but promote 4 teams next season (so other teams are not punished).

City will get a very light punishment,UAE will pull the plug on various investment and major deals/donations if they dare come down hard on them.Bearing in mind they also employ one of the most powerful lawyers in the world there’s only 1 outcome

Exactly right Chief. This decision will be made at 10 Downing, not with the Premier League. The Gulf States have your country over a barrel. Extortion used to be behind the scenes. No longer. The investment the UK would lose is in the billions, something you can ill afford post Brexit.

It is not a one off cheat by MC. Before the FIFA rules came in MC had bought their way to the top. Once the rules came in they continued as they had done before but found illegal games to hide it. This is far worse than any football club has done before and they must be made to pay heavily. They must be fined the amount they have illegally obtained, the players who they have purchased with illegal funds must be sold and they must be relegated with none of the financial benefits a relegated club gets. All the titles and cup they have won must be taken away from them. This should make sure this sort of behaviours will not be replated. Crime must not be allowed to benefit.

California has got it right. The punishment won’t be to bad . Makes me laugh when some say what would be fair . Fair never comes into it, Power is what’s it’s all about. If Fulham had done it they bee playing in the lower leagues now. That’s life

Surely the current owners can no longer be regarded as fit and proper and will be forced to sell, just like Abramovich. All titles won will be reversed with no winners for the relevant years, similar to Lance Armstrong's tour titles
Any new owners would be taking on some massive contracts so that would be reflected in the purchase price resulting in a huge loss for Abu Dhabi, more than any fine. The new owners could never be as profligate as the old ones so City will drift back to the pack and we all move on.

Most people do no seem to realise how bad what City have done is. Once the FIFA financial rules game in they used illegal means to avoid obeying them from then on. So all success they have achieved in that period is fraudulent. Other clubs will be looking will be looking at ways to do what City have done less obviously. That is why a very severe punishment must be inflicted to stop others joining this evil party. City used to be a very ordinary team who frequently got relegated like us. There obvious and horrible buying of success was the reason FIFA brought in the rules to stop it happening again.

What amazes me is none of the Man City fans, their manager or their players and also their ex-players have show any regrets on what they have done!! Surely, if you cheated you should be embarrassed to say the least and show some remorse. Instead of apologising they are acting like their owners challenging the authority (with their bananas), acting like they have been victimised and show no reqrets. Unbelievable. While I don't necessary agree with the PPF rule whereby a small club (what's what Man City were until the Etihad took over) is prevented from being big by spending excessively. But rules are rules. They were collectively agreed. Rules is there to ensure fairness even if fundamentally, you could argue if it was fair. I really hope they are punished and sent back to where they belong - a mid table club!

You ignore what has happened to you until you are punished, Its not the fans fault anyway and the real fans will continue to support them what ever happens.

It’s diabolical but I bet they get off lightly.Lets face it their owners should be banned from having anything to do with them or any sport but they are still buying there way out of trouble

Man City’s Abu Dhabi owners agreed a deal to pay Manchester Council just £750,000 a year for the naming rights to the club’s stadium – months before they were sold to Etihad Airways in an agreement worth an estimated £10m a year, The i Paper can reveal. It comes amid growing concerns over deals struck between Abu Dhabi and Manchester’s political leaders, including Andy Burnham – formerly Greater Manchester mayor – as the scale of City’s financial cheating rocks the world of football.

If they're not relegated then the Premiership and it's leaders are spineless and worthless and the rule books can all be thrown away. Won't be worth continuing when we know the cheats are all allowed to prosper. The game that I've loved since the early sixties will cease to exist and I will watch no more. They should be treated the same as Rangers were in Scotland and have to work their way back
