Got to get the right manger for next season, to freshen it up. We’ve had a great spell under Marco, but it’s gone stale. We’ve still got some good players few new additions a striker which is never easy to find COYW

Team, squad and manager ran out steam, ideas and motivation. Very sad end to the season. Maybe I’d rather spend next Sunday watching paint dry than making the trip to the cottage! Wolves were awful and we were just as bad! We should stop by big team rejects. Marco has ran out of his magic potion. Bring a new manager in next week and rebuild the squad!

Player who have looked decent now look ordinary and that is down to Marco not making up his mind. I know players are paid a great deal but they are still affected by managers behaving badly. Do not offer Marco or Harry a new contract just sack them.

I have been catching up with posts since my self imposed absence and have just seen your post of 10 May. Owen, I urge you to reconsider as your contribution to this board has been invaluable. As you well know I, along with others, have been one of your strongest supporters as you have a wonderful and impressive style of prose. To lose you is unthinkable and what ever brought this on must have been a trivial. On many occasions we have been accused of being one and the same person so don’t desert the board in my absence. Totally unfair so, please return asp.

Owen is probably sick of his posts getting deleted by the moderators for posts that he/she didn’t fancy. I have had posts about other teams deleted multiple times (including a recent one yesterday). So understandable people want to leave the site!

I remember in 1959 we beat a great Wolves side 3-1 at the Cottage. At the time, I was on holiday and it gave me great bragging rights. Unfortunately, the following week our trip to Molineux proved disastrous when we were beaten 9-0 which destroyed my short lived bragging rights. An an aside I agree entirely with MST that referees need to take action against shirt pulling and other misdemeanours which are occurring more and more especially when corners are taken.
Replies
I remember it very well Bigboy. I had a class mate who supported Wolves and how I gloated, for about 3days. My first lesson in humility:)). For the younger posters on here, Wolves were the team in those days, so it was the equivalent of bearing Man. City today. A very good team captained by the England skipper Billy Wright. Thanks for the memory, if a little salutary.

Much to the joy of Paddy and no doubt many more, I have refrained from posting for the past eight games. In fact, I have resorted to self isolation as I cannot find anything positive to say about our team. Most of you will be aware of my continued criticism of Andersen and I believe there is a correlation between his appointment as captain of the team and our subsequent performances. Whatever was Marco thinking appointing someone as reckless and stupid as him. Our last eight games we have gained eight points and completely wasted any chance of European football. To me, I consider Marco did well in establishing Fulham as a Premier Club but after five seasons, a long time in terms of managership, I believe he is devoid of ideas and no longer an inspiration to team and fans alike. Let us say thank Marco and start seeking a manager, someone like Parkinson, in order to rekindle the fire within the team. In addition, we need to freshen up the team by cherry picking from the clubs being relegated and look at players in the championship who are well able to perform at a higher level. May I recommend that Andersen is the first out of the door. In our last game against Bournemouth, one of our bogey teams, we should of taken advantage of Christie being sent off in the 41st minute but Bournemouth were quite capable of containing us and I the 49th minute, Andersen true to form took out an opponent right in front of the referee. Why VAR was needed to call the referee’s attention to the touch line screen, I know not. However, he then sent Andersen off which could have happened in previous games. In my opinion we need to recruit eight more players, who are currently under the radar, and get rid of Andersen and maybe a couple more. Fulham cannot remain blind to the weaknesses within the team and the Khans should now withdraw Marco’s improved salary offer and seek someone who can take as forward.
Replies
Mr Andersen is on a fat long term contract...only moved to Fulham because we doubled he's wages. More useless Tony Khan!

Mortlake,James Guy Taylor, played 229 times for Fulham between 1938-1953. Obviously, the War interrupted his career as it did to most footballers of that period. He actually played twice not once for England and was part of the 1950 World Cup Squad but never played. That is when we lost to the USA 1-0 and when the result was published in the late news in the Standard most people thought it was a misprint. Alf Ramsey was in the team as were many other stars. Surprised you don’t remember Jim Taylor who left Fulham and spent two seasons with QPR before moving into management. An excellent cultured footballer loved by the fans.

Make them put the ball in the semi circle for corners. Getting so the ball not touching outside of line now , the semi circle was but there to put the ball in . And clear day light for offside, fingers, noses toe nails etc for offside is killing the game. Agree with MST about holding. And get rid of VAR till we have people who can use it properly (fairly) maybe never

Best to have occasional a decision by a nail than a lot of wrong decisions during match, accuracy is better than unjustified celebration. Because of VAR I look more carefully at everything going on the pitch. At times is must be difficult to see if a player has been significantly touched to fall over or touched at all. Most players try to cheat by falling over when the don't need to rolling around as if they are seriously damaged. Send ever player off for cheating and they would soon stop it.

If marco stays next season will be much the same as this one, we will have almost same players, same will to play after a period of time and we will end up same position mid table. So whats the point of him staying ?, seems several top jobs or so they say , are waiting for his name on contract here and abroad. Very sloppy approach from the board sod the punters it can wait.
Replies
Let's for example, we do find ourselves a new manager, and we struggle at the bottom of the table, or heaven forbid, we get relegated, we all wish that Marco should have stayed, and we would have finished mid table again. I am one of the worst examples, as I keep changing my mind on a daily basis, as to whether I want Marco to stay or go. Is it better the devil you know, or do we take a chance with a new manager /coach instead, and step into the unknown. It's a real puzzle.

Not puzzling at all. Follow the money. Greedy club vs greedy manager who is threatening to leave to be greedy somewhere else. The club will then appoint another greedy manager who will get sacked with a big pay off if he fails or if he does a decent job will blackmail the club for more money.

If Marco can keep us up consistently lets keep him. If the owner has found a way to spend more money on players in the windows we perhaps can afford a much better manager and should search for him.

Why have Glasner and Areola come clean and have said at an early juncture they are off. Why would Marco not do that if his intention was not to stay on? I do not think he would do that to Fulham, if he does, then it says more about the Fulham Management and Marcos true relationship? Hence the dip??

It’s a shame how Marco is treating Fulham. He has to remember the fans love him and the club given him the money and a platform to rebuild his management career. I am 99% he will leave, he’s just waiting for the best offer. He would get more respect if he said he wanted to try something new but will honour his contract. Rather leaving the club on the same level as Roy, he will probably leave with a very sour taste with the fans.

Whilst Marco holds the club to ransom over the void around his contract our form continues to suffer with major signings not reaching anywhere near their potential. Is it time therefore for the club to tell Silva to either sign or go before the end of the season. This game of chicken has honestly on far long enough in my opinion.

He should have been given an ultimatum around Christmas. It's much harder to attract decent players if they don't know who their manager will be. Also, it gives the club more time to find the best replacement. This won't be easy in a summer dominated by a World cup. Tail definitely wagging the dog here, does not reflect well on McIntosh and co. Same to lesser degree applies to Wilson.

I know every football fan is talking about it but still frustrates me how such a stupid and unfair decision was taken to disallow West Ham’s goal. If the ref wanted to apply strict rules in that moment, then he should gave disallowed the goal but award West Ham a penalty for Trossard and other players grabbing hold of West Ham players prior to the goal. Why didn’t they do that?? Watch out for West Ham suing the premier league if they are relegated by 1 point! likewise, Man City will find a way to sue too if they lose the premier league by 1 point! All points to a corrupted PGMOL!!
Replies
I was lucky enough to have been a referee of the National leagues etc, and a referees assistant, or as I like to call it, linesman on the Premier League, and was quite surprised when we were told to ignore, such as stepping over the lines from throw ins, and keepers taking the ball outside of the penalty areas, when they clear the ball, and most blatantly, ignore players running into the penalty, when a penalty is taken. So many penalties are scored illegally.

All teams enter each game or competition accepting that the referee's decision is final so they can't expect to be able to sue if the officials make a mistake or if they don't agree with a decision. If , however, they think an official has deliberately and corruptly affected the outcome of a game that's another matter but I don't think anyone is genuinely suggesting that.

There’s been lots of times Leno, and other keepers been fouled in box and not given. Seems they only give when it suits. Times I’ve heard Leno should be stronger. All this holding in the box is cheating give free kicks yellow card pens every time be a few goals early in the season but would soon stop

Marco is no longer getting the best from the squad The coaches are not improving the players an example is Muniz who spent the whole game on his heels he did not make any incisive runs but waited flat footed for the ball to find him , why has he not improved in the time he has been here ?
Replies
Muniz would struggle to get into the Middlesbrough team again. Sadly, he’s not the smartest player on the pitch, he’s football skills is worse than Robinson, he’s like a school kid chasing around the pitch aimlessly and so sad to see the 6’8 German kid’s first touch in was better than Muniz the whole game. Leeds wanted him last season and we probably could have got £30m!! Should have taken the money before they went and bought the Everton striker! It only!!

I have been thinking about this for quite a while now, but I will see the season out, but then like you Owen, I might think of calling it a day. Going back to our showing yesterday, it really wasn't quite as bad, as some of our fans are trying to make out. Due to two dreadful mistakes from Muniz, when he missed a heading sitter, and Anderson's stupid red card, we threw away 3 points in our quest for European football next season, which may not be a bad thing, as our club could be in turmoil, during the summers transfer window, whoever our Manager might be. We have just got to lose players like Muniz, Rual, Robinson, Wilson, and maybe even Anderson. Possibly a new keeper, but Bernd Leno, has had a pretty good season overall. With two wins, which we MUST expect, we will still finish on the same level as last season, so if we look back, we haven't done too bad, but we haven't gone forward as we should have done, mainly down to a decent striker, and a scoring mid field player, like teams of our standing Brentford, Brighton and Bournemouth seem to have. With three very average teams coming up from the Championship, I don't think at this stage anyway, that we will be fighting at the bottom, but we just have to strengthen our squad, or that could be our fate.

We created more than enough chances in the first half to be well in the lead while Bournemouth produced nothing. That has been our problem all season we create but don't finish. Half the teams in PL lack a decent. We should spend all the money we have for players on a goal scorer.

A couple of weeks ago Arsenal were sneered at because so many of their goals came from set pieces. Oh how I would love Fulham to be sneered at for the same reason. We never look at all threatening from set pieces. We seem to approach particularly corners in a quite clueless way.
Replies
Not only set pieces. I lost count of corners, i think 11 or more none effective which is really bad! We have so many small detail things wrong from within. Small detail things should be worked on back at Motspur, even before we hit play day. Small details add up to big problems and there is a question mark on Marco and management etc etc...

Yes, our corners are a particular beef of mine, actually. It more often plays out as an opportunity to give the ball back to the opposition and offer them the opportunity for a quick counter. Whilst I’m in a sour mood, let it not be forgotten that Andersen really should take a lot of blame for that result yesterday. We could have expected to go on and win after their red card, but his clear two footed tackle was reckless and begging for the red it deservedly got.

What was missing was quality and belief. Much as I can’t have a go at effort, we’re not gonna stay in premiership without reinforcements next season , I’m not gonna pick the position out that’s all ready been done and all have our views. I’m gonna pick out a few pluses. I’ve given Robinson a lot of stick recently, I felt he played a lot better today not at his best well , Bobb Kevin and King showed lots of promise feel we were worth a point, the goal did annoy me Wilson turning his back for deflection . In my day it was a crime we took it for the team and the balls we’re a lot heavier then

A famous quote by Benjamin Disraeli. We sure had royalty at Fulham today and in the presence of Roy Hodgson, John Tigana, Mr Khan and whoever I missed today we failed miserably. If there was one game Marco should want a win, it was against a Bournemouth who are on a 20 game or so unbeaten apparently. Not so important to Fulham who are safe and secure in the prem for another season but so very important for Marco and Ariola who are in the shop window for the top jobs going begging. Marco has played it canny and with no contract signed the plan would have been to win today in front of the boss and beat Wolves and a grand finish against Newcastle would have been job done, give me a big contract or wait for Chelsea to call etc etc but sometimes plans fall flat and we fell flat and well short today. Iraola might even bypass Chelsea if Real Madrid ask for him and he has a good chance they will call him. Our defending is shocking especially in the second half and i challenge any Fulham fan to say Bournemouth should have buried two golden chances. The only bright spark was Josh King hitting the bar late on. Our build ups are okay but we fail badly in the final third. Robinson has all the speed of a Gizelle but sadly no accuracy when laying the ball off. No point to giving a boring commentary about the game. This was all about Marco Silva and is 'will he, or won't he sign' and will he get the big job after Fulham. Stranger things have happened and no matter what i say or think, some daft bozo with too much money might give Marco the top job.

It’s clear if we want to finish above mid table or even avoid the risk of relegation, we need to make some major changes. Maybe we need a new manager to shape us. We need to sell Muniz, Robinson and maybe even Cairney to make space in the squad. I am not sure £22m would be a good investment for chukewzee. Wilson and Raul I suspect will not leave. We should re-assess Lukic if he can take us to the next level. What this means is we need 1 left back, 2 strikers, 2 new central mids and 2 new wingers to work compliment Kevin and Bobb. Yes, that is 7 players and it will be difficult to fund or to buy but if we want to step up, we will need to invest. Otherwise, I think this squad could be fighting for relegation next season.

Time to move on Marco. Leadership starts at the top and your indecision about whether you stay or go is sending the wrong message to the players. Its almost like they are lost for ideas. If you think there's greener grass elsewhere, then you should make way for a new manager, Marco, because we are like a rudderless ship at the moment.

This year most likely the 9th spot will get into Europe. Villa winning the Europa should be a certainty. Likewise, given they will prioritise the final over the league with their 5th place almost guaranteed. I can’t see Chelsea beating City in the FA cup final. So 9th place is good enough this year. I think 2 wins and a draw should be good enough for 9th for Fulham. So FFS I hope we don’t F&£k it up! Luck has been on our side that we are still in it. COYW

Honest speculation but do you think Fulham will make an effort or will it be the same lack lustre performances we’ve come to expect? If we were to qualify for Europe it would be despite ourselves. Don’t really think we deserve it but I guess if we do neither did anyone else. Marc Silva still has a job to do with three games to go and he knows it and he has said it. Fulham v Bournemouth is a home advantage and Wolves away should be a win against a team already relegated and that leaves Newcastle which isa home advantage. There are too many hawks watching Silva and Fulham and he needs good things to happen, period!

are Jarred Bowen from West Ham and Mickey van der Ven from Tottenham Hotspur who must be available at a decent price as they are not exactly spring chickens. I've not forgotten Callum Wilson but he has not been able to command a regular place in West Ham's starting line ups and was far too expensive when Hammers bought him from Newcastle. Of course he played for AFC Bournemouth but they're going to be right out of luck if we shot on sight we'll win. No fancy stuff 4 - 4 - 2 then we will win!

Jarred Bowen, no chance! Too much of a cultural change West Ham to Fulham and besides, his family would put the blockers on it.

I didn't vote reform and i wouldn't but they won and that is called democracy fair and square. If the majority want to vote for them, so be it, we have to accept it. The Conservatives took their foot off the gas and had gotten complacent and Labour are just clueless. Boris might be a liar but he is the only one capable of winning an election and he can turn it around for the Conservatives if they let him and that says a lot compared to the other hopefuls. And for the record there should never have been a lockdown when Covid because some people worked through it including me and my missus and we had no choice. Nobody had a clue about Covid and some countries chose to lockdown when they did and some didn't and the science people no matter what they say knew very little about a virus that came around just like that in a hundred years and it is time to draw a line under it. For the record Brexit was a peoples vote and not the fault of Boris, people voted out and just like Reform people voted for them and who are we to insult their intelligence? If Reform can't govern, they will have to learn to govern and quick or they will be out simples. I personally think they will mess up and the Conservatives will once again reign supreme just like they have been doing for most of a hundred years and maybe Boris will win them another election. Sometimes a big personality is the key and Boris has that extra something none of the others have and that's what counts whatever you think about the man.

Interesting article in the London Original how Marco is disrespecting Fulham. Most of us are getting very frustrated if he’s going or staying. The article was spot on in that Marco is using Fulham as an insurance against not getting a better job. I don’t disagree we are no competition with the likes of Man U, Chelsea etc for a manager but Marco cannot treat Fulham as an insurance policy. If he so wish for a big job. Tell the world he’s leaving. It isn’t as though he’s current uncertain future is inspiring the team. In fact the very opposite in most games since December. I don’t know why Marco are involved in transfers if he’s not going to be around. I said before, I’d love him to stay but I think I am prepared to be first to call the board sack Marco now unless he’s agreed the contract. It may improve our chances of a European spot rather than detrimental.

Let's just use our brains for one minute. You may wish to consider this question first. Did these so called big teams go from big to big? Or did they go from small to big? Or were they always just BIG?

While accepting that football management doesn't seem to follow the same rules as any other industry, I suspect that sacking someone because they haven't agreed to carry on working for you would lead to all sorts of legal action.

They can do what every club does, sack him and pay up his contract. They would be wise to do so. He’s past his prime and the situation is unsettling the players, given the performances. A new broom badly needed.

Just take the game seriously would be my advice. Make sure that your playing shoes are not too big. No silly big red noses. No outrageous yellow curly wigs, or red thick braces holding up oversized ballooning blue trousers. No painting of faces or black eye liner or if you must, keep it proportional. And remember this, the referee is the only one who gets to whistle. All together now. COME ON YOU HARLEQUINS.

I'm reluctant to say this, but our manager and coaching staff are to blame, plus we don't seem to be able to spot young talented players, as Bournemouth, Brighton, Brentford, and Palace seem to do, time after time. If they are tohit for, as they did against Arsenal, we will be run ragged by the Cherries on Saturday, as there is no way, with the injuries that we have got, that we will even score a goal. We still have a manager who won't tell us what his plans are, and that must be unsettling for our players. It is certainly unsettling for me, and our fans. I'm fed up with all of these stories about Lampard, and other managers coming in June. Why on earth would Lampard come here, when he has an exiting Premier League season, coming up with Coventry. It looks like the managers merry go round, coming up soon, and I hope that we don't get left with some has been.

Does any planner who comes on this site have any idea what capacity the Cottage could achieve if the remaining three stands were developed in the same style a the Riverside, (with less retardants)?
Replies
Am not a planner, I don’t think you’d get more seats in Putney and hammy. The same stand without boxes, media and executive seats would be 10k. So it’d be 6.5+6.5+8+10 =31. Not that much more. If they wrap around the corner - may take it to 35k. My guess.

You could try multiplying the riverside capacity by 4. But its academic would never get planning permission.

Looks like Villa might be hesitant to give Wilson a whopper long term contract!! Knowing Wilson been Mr Average at Fulham until this season, they are concerned he's peaked. Would you still offer him i am guessing £120-150k a week 4-5 year contract?? Maybe he will hang around at Fulham next season after all!

Wilson blows hot and cold all the way through his Fulham contract and that's why he is probabely better as a super-sub. Before his rich vein of form Wilson was more effective coming on as a sub and we got more from him but that statement is up for debate. I can't remember the correct game when he came on and he was fantastic. He stated in his interview that he hoped the gaffer would play him in more 90 minute games and he got his wish. A lot of blame for losing the ball in midfield is aimed at others and the usual suspects but Wilson is also guilty of losing the ball and his track back isn't great. Top teams see you play in good moments but they also watch you in bad moments and Harry Wilson is having too many bad moments recently which begs the question, should Villa give him a long and big contract? Harry has only himself to blame if he doesn't get his big move.

This message board would be very dull if we all agree on everything. Opinion is nearly always divided and that is good. That is why no football managers behave the same they all have different methods as no one answer works for all.

Harry Wilson had a great run of 10/12 games but has reverted to his normal inconsistent form in the last few games. Not sure Villa would have him in their starting XI. Come to that,I wouldn’t have him in our starting XI at the moment !
