For our whole history we have neve been good enough whatever players we have and whatever manager we employ. How can that change?

I think we should have a vote on this board. Who is in favour of continuing to support Fulham FC. My vote is yes 'till I die'.

TTIN is asking a question.
No sucess in the top league, one cup final second place, one runners up medal europe.
Aims, to stay in the top division and have a bit of a cup run. New manager bringing players from Spain into the most physical league inthe world, who are not physical. We play like amatuers, where are the corner routines, free kick routines. When was the last time FFC scored from outside the box.

We could buy our way to success like some clubs do. Personally I would rather we continue to punch above our weight unlike some clubs who punch below their weight. What would change in our lives if we paid for success and achieved it? Happiness? No! And there would only be one way to go after that. Down. We are very very successful in our own unique way, which many other clubs probably envy.

Yeah Joseph, just look at Fleetwood, they will carry that win over Arsenal in their hearts and minds till the end of time. I doubt that most Man City fans can remember who they last beat.

It is nice to have an intelligent conversation on a subject. When I started supporting Fulham a long time ago I always assumed we would win something as we got better we got better and got into two finals and lost them both, but by them I had become a what does it matter supporter which is the only way to support Fulham otherwise you would become weak from worry. We are also an very honest club and would never even consider what Man C have done. I have been a Fulham supporter all my life and and will continue until my life ends.

I sometimes wonder why some 'fans' obsess with the clubs spending budget anyway, are these guys would be accountants? To run a club you have to spend and speculate, why should anyone care outside of the owners what the hell is spent? I love the team and football.

Re: your “HISTORY” post. You must have a very short memory to post something like that or don’t know Fulham too well or something else perhaps. Forget nearly dropping out of the league in the 80s for a moment but in just our recent history, I give you Magath, Mulenstein, Parker, Jol, Ranieri. All very poor managers for Fulham when we were’t “good enough”. If you want to go back further there are at least 10 poor managers I could name when we also weren’t “good enough” just during my support since 1973. I’m sure older fans could name many more.

Once that a sex maniac took over Fulham everything change and we went from being a poor team to one with much higher prospects. His money made the lower divisions look easy to get out and we started to become regular PL team, 13 consecutive seasons in fact. I know we have had some dreadful managers over the years and some decent ones but never one like the top teams can afford. The top teams have always been able to spend at least double what we do on players so we are not likely to win the League but other than the top teams win the cups but we have never managed to do that.

Think you’ll find that all I named except Parker were so called “top managers” that the top teams had. Albeit Muelenstein was 2nd to Fergie.

Even in the late 40s and 50s we were considered the poor neighbours and that was even before Chelsea had won anything, 1955 I recall.
Fulham’s underdog status is why I chose to support them in preference to Chelsea, who should have been my first choice having been born in Walham Green. Guess I have that not uncommon English characteristic to support the underdog.
Basically, due in part to ground size and succession of diabolical owners, we have always been a resource poor second string team and it’s kind of difficult to imagine us being anything else in the future.
The injection of big bucks from our last two owners has definitely improved our possibilities, but we still have revenue limitations, albeit Brentford, Brighton and Bournemouth would suggest despite our limitations we could do better, as we did during the Roy Hodgson era, but the club contrived to blow those advances in quality.
Not sure we can ever achieve more than a brief flirtation with success, but never say never. A brief moment in the sun can be more satisfying.
Better to travel well than to arrive, as the old saying goes.

Steady on my fellow intellects. Remember this is football we are talking about here, you know 'get rid of it' 'over ere son' 'use me, use me'. Lets not forget our place.

The watching football at Craven Cottage has become a middle class sport as the so called working man cannot afford it.

In Marco Silver we had a very good manager but in both Everton and Fulham he hit the barrier that they cannot afford to spend £100m on one player, so you always have good players not the great ones the top teams can afford.

Surely, a good manager shows his quality when he has limited resources?

I love it when I see passionate about Fulham posts. I feel better about life and also that we have a degree of camaraderie. Keep it up those of you on my support side of the fence.
