Artery goal came from a long clearance and not a slow build up from the back...a slight change in tactics perhaps.

If it happens I wonder if we ever had an ex Fulham player playing for Barcelona?

Can't see it happening, but if so, it will be good for Sess. He will learn loads with Barca, but can you see Mourinho sanctioning this move? Sessegnon is rotting in reserves under Jose, yet i can't see jose giving this move his blessing. Barcelona is a bitter pill to swallow concerning Jose...

Tony for heavens sake sign this player. Since his return to the side he's been immense and worth spending the cash on. I never understood why the need to sign Cavaleiro and Reid in January window and Harrison wasn't, but that's Tony for you.

He's stark raving bonkers, and his timing is 'er, not the best at times, but our Harry is doing alright. He puts himself about and i cringe sometimes at his mistimed tackles. What Harry does in a crisis will get us by because he blocks off and puts himself about on the pitch and rightly so, MOTM. We can speculate forever about Fulham winning without Mitrovic, but Mitrovic we do need desperately! We can all see that Bobby Reid is far too light-weight as a forward, and we can say that Kabano and Knockheart, and Cavaleiro, cannot play that center forward role like Mitrovic. Cairney wasn't missed sadly to say, but he can and he will play his part in this closing season. I would like to see Tom Cairney link up with Josh Onomah and Josh is looking better coming back from injury. Josh could be the player that Scott Parker threw at us, and we can finally embrace him into the Fulham archive. This guy will improve even more yet i think. I like Knockhearts work off the ball which sometimes goes unnoticed because Knockheart does what Knockheart does, and that is to run down blind alleys. If only he could rediscover what he was meant to do, and and that is to contribute to the goal tally. If only Scott Parker can utilize Cavalewiro, Knockheart, and any combination of Kabano and Kamara on the pitch at the same time as Mitrovic. Can he tweak this Fulham squad of underachievers? I really believe the tabloids when they say that we are a talented bunch, we just need to believe it. I know the Scott Parker believers will be coming back on here in droves, but surely they can see why a lot of fans are left frustrated with his tactical naiveness this season. Fair play to Scotty in this game away against a Forest team who didn't get much from this game. Sometimes games don't go in your favour and Fulham have had their fair share of games that run away from you. Is it Friday yet??? Cardiff up next, and Monster-Monster Mitrovic is back!!!!!!!!

That was about as tight and organized as we’ve been. Still like to see more from our forwards and wingers, Neeskens and Cav are not really taking the opportunity or creating chances. Onomah is looking more comfortable out there, it’ll be interesting to see who loses his place to TC on Friday... or if TC comes off the bench.

I have criticised Parker a lot , but that was a gutsy fighting strong away performance . Well organised on the whole although TimReam is looking quite flakey . As a team we looked very committed and the boys looked like they wanted to win badly Well done

We are the 4th or 5th best side in the Championship this year. That doesn’t mean we can’t play two great matches and go up. But Brentford, Leeds and West Brom have been better. Of all the teams, I’m hoping Brentford does go up automatically so we don’t face them at Wembley. They’re bigger, stronger and faster across the board, plus better managed. For us to go up, Parker has to get more from TC. He is the best passer in the division and can score when he gets the ball in the right areas. But not thriving in this system. This is Parker’s problem - he makes the players fit him, Slav saw the talent On hand and devised a system to fit it.

Sabri Lamouchi seems to have Forest well-drilled and especially very organized in defense. Scott Parker will need to organize and discipline our boys tomorrow night. We cannot turn up and play the same predictable way that we play, we must be smarter than we have ever been this season. This guy Sabri, would be a dream coach for Fulham, especially in the defense department. We struggle season after season, and we just cannot gel our suspect defense together no matter how we try. Mitrovic will sit out his ban for one more game. This is the game that we really needed Mitrovic to keep our stuttery 2 game win going, but not to be. If only we could have the services of Kamara tomorrow afternoon, he must be down with the virus? Ream and company will surely be kept busy by the ever so experienced Lewis Grabbon who i think is the perfect center forward to get any Championship team' er' up to the premiership. It is debatable if Grabbon would be prem class? I suggested grabbing 'er' Grabbon a few seasons back now but as usual, we dont think half these players are good enough for the Fulham. I am not sure if we are even capable of stopping Grabs' and the slick Joe Lolley? They say' cometh the hour, cometh the man! I would like to see some sort of tactical brilliance from Parker tomorrow, or win anyhow will do us before Mitro comes back. Scott Parker' we have accused him and slung him onto the slag-heap. Scott Parker' this is your time to show us some tactical prowess and genius to overcome a Forest team lead by Sabri Lamouchi, who does know what he is doing!!! COME ON YE FULHAM!!!!!!!!!

I’m wondering if the reason we play the style we do is coming from above parker. After all when we got promoted with an attacking football side and tried to play it that way in the premiership we were routinely beaten with every pundit saying you can’t come up and play so recklessly and high energy. Then the khans sacked SJ and got Claudio who played a much more tight slow style more akin to what his replacement parker plays. My theory is the khans told parker they wanted promotion with a team that will grind out results and be hard to beat so that when we get back to the premiership we are relegation battle ready. I’m not saying this is what I want or that they have achieved it but it would explain why we been playing this slow style ever since sj left.

If the Khans realy believe that playing as we do will somehow help us survive should we go up they are living in cloud cuckoo land.

Forest will not get 11 players behind the ball for 90 minutes. They will attack and we will counter. The whole team is looking match fit at last. It is a shame Kamara is injured while Mitro is suspended. What is the matter with Kamara is it a transfer request? Onomah must start, he is looking like the player Parker thinks he is. With Reed and Onomah we have a real positive presence in midfield.

What is going on with our defence, for three years or so we have been plagued with a rough defence, dont get me wrong as adoi, ream, both lovely blokes but come on mistakes again and again. It just let's the rest of the team down, how can we build on old foundations it just collapses and we need and deserve more let the others have a chance, just because we all chant REAM REAM REAM, doesn't mean he is good for the team give him a rest and let the others perform yes we love him but time is time to use wisely.
Replies
Odoi may not be the best defender in the world, he has been solid for Fulham and probably the most reliable defender we have at the moment. Ream, i'd agree - he was never quick enough for the Premier league. Sadly, he might be lagging behind even in the championship. Our defence will always be a challenge if other teams sit back and our midfield push more and more forward, leaving a big gap. Other teams have worked this out, shame we haven't still found a solution. not sure its always the defenders fault!
posted by John (Guest) - Monday 06th July 2020, 12:25 PM

Ream was our best player in the promotion season excluding Mitro. He's a solid defender, good in the air, tackles well, maybe not top premiership quality However, he is clearly not comfortable with the ball at his feet. Our rigid policy of playing the ball out from the back doesn't suit him at all and seems to make him nervous. This in turn undermines his confidence while doing what he's good at (defending) and I feel this manifests itself in some of his decision making, mainly positioning. We have persevered far too long with a tactic to which our main central defender is not suited. Something has to change and I for one would prefer to abandon the inflexible devotion to slow patient (and boring) build up play and maybe get the best out of Ream.
posted by Old Bloke (Guest) - Monday 06th July 2020, 12:57 PM

We have invested heavily, but mostly in injured players. Mawson, Hector, Kongolo, Bryan are all excellent signings on paper (barring injuries). I'd question the coaching and recruitment process. One thing that really bugs me is that we never replaced fredricks. Love Odoi as versatile cover and enthuisiasm, but he is not natural at right back.
posted by O David (Guest) - Monday 06th July 2020, 1:08 PM

I would like to see Bryan given more cover in defence. He is dangerous when going forward, and making passes into the box, but isn;t the best at defending.

...For posting non-football related subjects. I've lost enthusiasm for football at the moment and so have some others judging by some of the posts below.

The fake crowd on BBC is too loud and whoever controls it is doing a really bad job of pressing the right buttons at the right time. watching with no fake crowd noise is even worse and like watching your mates kick about on a Sunday morning.

SKY SPORTS is slightly better but most of the games are turgid. Got me to thinking that perhaps it's not football alone that some of us enjoy but the whole experience!

We lost enthusiasm not because of the fake crowd. Of cos that's important. Of cos to keep the enthusiasm, we'd want to go to the games (many of us been doing for decades). We lost enthusiasm because Fulham lost the plot with Leeds and Brentford. If we had won those two games, I think you'd be slightly more interested...or even excited! I live abroad and only get to the cottage once or twice a season. I thought having Ffc was the answer.and paid for the priviledge. However I have been unable to get live matches at all this season and had to rely on Jims coverage. Since football restarted my account has been blocked , so now I can't get to see or hear any matches without paying again, I look forward to the matches on sky , and saw the first two games in my local bar, So apart from the Cardiff game, I won't be seeing any more Fulham games. Will I renew my membership next season. Not a chance. .

I realised the crowd had a effect on the players but did not realise how significant or it is just the players have got this in their heads and have become seriously mentally unbalanced. Any difference a crowd make is illusory and the players should realise that or this turgid football will continue.

Chinese authorities have issued a warning after a suspected case of bubonic plague was identified in Inner Mongolia.

The case was reported at a hospital in the city of Bayannur, to the west of the Chinese autonomous region, on Saturday. It is not known how the patient became infected, local officials said.

It triggered a level three alert on Sunday - the second lowest of China's four-level system - ordering people to report any dead or sick marmots or any unexplained fever symptoms in humans.

The alert also bans the hunting or eating of animals, primarily rodents, that could spread the disease.

Known as the Black Death after overwhelming outbreaks in Britain in the Middle Ages, bubonic plague is not uncommon in China.

Cases have become increasingly rare however, with only 26 reported between 2009 and 2018, resulting in 11 deaths.

Symptoms of the bacterial infection, mostly spread by rodents, include a fever, swollen lymph nodes and feeling weak.

If it was just that article, do you think I would bother posting.

I have no black friends. This is not a choice, I just don't know any black people personally. That does not make me racist - no black person has me as a fiend and that does not make them MSTist.

I still say black board, because it describes a piece of equipment that is black and is a board, I still say master bedroom, I still by whitening toothpaste, I do not want to go down on one knee for anyone but none of those things makes me racist.

The world has gone mad some time ago but even more mad in 2020 when people can no longer say words and phrases that have been in our vocabulary for centuries. Too many people out there just waiting to be offended and mostly due to the letigious society in which we now live.

I abhore racism with intent but please - master bedroom, whitening toothpaste, baa baa black sheep; it's political correctness gone mad. People wanted to leave the EU because we had to have straight cucumbers and potatoes without eyes and those are the same people that want phrases and words band from our language that are meaningless to 99% of normal people (including those that are supposed to offended and don't give a fig).

I don’t think I ever called you a racist MST …… and actually I don’t think anyone’s really bothered about you calling a blackboard a blackboard ...actually most schools use whiteboards now ! ...and because some words have been used for centuries it doesn’t mean we have to keep using them ...my grandfather called black people niggers ,but I think we might have moved on from there ...I think what I was trying to say is that we seem to be getting a little distracted by ‘blackboards ,and master bedrooms etc ‘ ...actually you must be a bit posh because I’ve never used the term master bedroom !!! ..and I live In the posh bit of Peckham ...Guess you must live in the suburbs....theres nothing wrong with looking at ourselves occasionally and maybe re assessing .... And Bob ...the reason I have someone looking after my car is because it breaks down often ...and the man who drives it is my car mechanic who specialises in Mark 1 Golfs ... The thing is I come from a white working class background ,I lived on a rough estate in walworth ,in the 60’ and 70s ,I’ve also meet people who think I’m a bit thick just because of the way I speak ...but I also know that the black kids on my estate have had to put up with so more than I ever will .,and there children are still having to put up with it .....and maybe now ,in 2020 it isn’t a bad time to have think about these things ....That’s all ...

I know you weren't referring to me as racist so apologies if that's the way you perceived my post.

You have kind of proved my point though; you assume that because I use the phrase master bedroom, I must be posh. I call my sitting room a lounge and not a front room and I eat lunch in the middle of the day and dinner at night I would guess you would say that makes me posh too?

The truth is (as many older posters will know), I was brought up in Paddington by a protestant mother and a Jewish father with no money and we lived in a two room flat (bedroon and kitchen) in Marylands Road. I left school at 15 and have worked hard all my life and am now in my 60's enjoying a reasonable salary and living in a detached house in the Forest of Dean.

You might also say that makes me posh but I would guess a two room flat in Peckham would cost twice what my three bed detached (with master bedroom with en suite, 2nd bedroom, 3rd bedroom and study with lounge and dining room would be valued at and I sell textiles and PPE for a living.

It's about perception and I can assure you that I'm not posh however, back to the point that if you say master bedroom in the context of slavery and mean it in that context then, of course, it is wrong buut if you just mean the largest bedroom then I see absolutely no issue with that whatsoever....

MST, i think, having read your post, the fact that you have no black friends, probably leaves you in a position where it is not your place to decide what is considered racist and what is not. In fact, you have previously posted about aligning your views on racism with a black man you once met, who said it was more about ‘racism with intent’. This phrase suggests that racism without intent also exists. It also seems to reinforce a narrative in your mind that you are not complicit, because you are passive. A story you tell yourself to sleep well at night. The problem is, we are all complicit - but it is not our fault. Rather than seeing this as an attack on you, it’s simply highlighting an issue that we face daily. The systems and norms in place are outdated, before your time and mine, so you have been born into it. Just like me. Therefore, there is nothing wrong with people suggesting terms like ‘master bedroom’ are racist, because their origins are racist, but became tolerated and then normalised over centuries. POC now have a voice and a platform, and unlike the single person you base your morality on, there are millions of people protesting worldwide that being passive is simply not enough any more. These are the people you should be listening to and trying to make feel welcome in this world we share. Also, it is not about whitening toothpaste, It was about selling skin whitening treatments, stop spreading false information after you were corrected the first time. That is wilful ignorance and therefore you are complicit in spreading hatful narrative about the protests and everything they are achieving. Markrightback, it is very refreshing to hear your views on this board. You represent the age group of the majority of posters, but do not represent their outdated views which i find to be very damaging to society. I think it is a moderators duty to delete posts like this, not write them.

Well said mark right back. Whilst I understand the frustration with some silly changes to words it is like the final straw over a long period of racist and skin colour abuse. You cannot put yesterday’s rules on today’s society, it is time to change hence all the protest. When someone says I am not racist but.....you know they are about to say something racist. Also I must admit to wondering why a moderator is so vocal on this board. Obviously this board is different to others where the moderators are more impartial.

Not my words but I entirely agree: I have been wondering about why whites are racists, and no other race is? There are British Africans, British Chinese, British Asian, British Turks, etc, etc, etc. And then there are just British. You know what I mean, plain ole English people that were born here. You can include the Welsh, the Scottish and the people who live off our shores of Great Britain. You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you. So why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live? You have the Muslim Council of Great Britain. You have Black History Month. You have swimming pools for Asian women. You have Islamic banks for Muslims only. You have year of the dragon day for Chinese people. If we had a White Pride Day, you would call us racists. If we had White History Month, we'd be racists. If we had any organization for only whites to 'advance' OUR lives, we'd be racists. A white woman could not be in the Miss Black Britain or Miss Asia, but any colour can be in the Miss UK. If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships, you know we'd be racists. There are over 200 openly proclaimed Muslim only schools in England. Yet if there were 'White schools only', that would be racist! In the Bradford riots and Toxteth riots, you believed that you were standing-up for your race and rights. If we stood-up for our race and rights, you would call us racists. You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists. We fly our flag, we are racists. If we celebrate St George's day we are racists. You can fly your flag and it’s called diversity. You celebrate your cultures and it’s called multiculturalism. You rob us, carjack us, and rape our daughters. But, when a white police officer arrests a black gang member or beats up an Asian drug dealer running from the law and posing a threat to society, you call him a racist. I am proud.... but you call me a racist. Why is it that only whites can be racists?? There is nothing improper about this e-mail. Let's see which of you are proud enough to send it on. I sadly don't think many will. That's why we have LOST most of OUR RIGHTS in this country. We won't stand up for ourselves! BEING PROUD TO BE WHITE! It's not a crime, YET... but its getting very close!

Everytime Brentford are in the playoff they screw up and it’s always an ex Fulham player who scores except when Marcelo trotta missed a playoff winning penalty and the other team went up the other end and scored the winner. I hope Brentford make the playoffs just so I can laugh at the inevitable, hilarious way they get knocked out. I hope we get them in the first round cos what could be more in trend with their playoff history than the last ever game at their sad stadium been when Fulham ended their promotion hopes.

Forget about losing points to Leeds and Brentford. They are both great teams. Our biggest regret this season will be the two games against Barnsley. Those 6pijnts would have been the difference between automatic and play/off lottery!

You can look at every game and do the ‘if only’ but sadly football doesn’t work that way. Yesterday one decent shot in the last minute made all the difference. Sadly we ain’t the best team so we can only hope for the best. And Brentford and Leeds great teams.?.

Parker you need to work on these things urgently 1) we work the ball too slowly 2) our play is too predictable 3) our shape is unbalanced 4) our defenders do no not win enough individual duels especially applies to Hector but also Ream 5) we do not play incisive through balls and Cairney is our only player who even attempts this 6) we have looked sluggish since the restart and the squads fitness needs to be investigated although things on this issue were slightly better yesterday 7) set plays need to improve. Lots to work on Parker but we keep saying this and that’s why it is frustrating. The talent is in the squad to do this but your job is to make this happen now just do your job properly.

If i sound ruthless, tough tooties and boo-hoo to any Scott Parker sympathizers out there! I repeat' our target this season is promotion and apparently, we are still on for it. Why are we one of the few, who don't think promotion is on the table, or we shouldn't be promoted this season? Brentford are apparently punching above their weight. Fulham have had the pleasure of a good 13 years in the prem, and we should be ambitious to get there again. Surprisingly, we are still in the mix, so let us keep the momentum going into Tuesday at Forest. Forest will be the acid test without Mitrovic for the last time. Can Scott Parker engineer a win without Mitro? Tactically we are all over the place, yet we are in the mix. I don't mind if Parkers favorite son plays every game from now until the end of season if it means he improves a little bit, and most importantly, it brings a smile to Parker's face. I have heard all the nonsense that Scott Parker can only do so much with limited resorces, poppy-cock i say! We have one of the best squads in this division and most teams would feel blessed to have half of ours. It is our own faults that we are blowing it, but we can put things right starting against Forest. If we can somehow win, we will have a rejuvenated Mitrovic back for the remaining games to come. The likes of Mitrovic would love promotion and he must keep him and whoever has an ambitious bone in their body. Love him or loathe him, Scott Parker should have our support for the small recompense, and the much more he will deliver to the small team along the Thames. COME ON FULHAM' OUR PREM RETURN AWAITS!!!!!!!!

But did we leave it late at home again or what? Not setting the world on fire, because we are playing to rows of empty seat and a few seagulls that have flown off course. Mind you fielding the same team was probably forced on Mr Parker, as we have not exactly got a big squad. For all they are worth, I would have let the on-loan players go back to where they came from even brother-in-law Harry Arter. See how Bournemouth have missed him. WHAT ABOUT GETTING Lee Johnson in now as Manager, he had no players of quality at Bristol City, so it will not make much difference at Craven Cottage would it? But at least he has some experience as a Manager.

This is a very different and difficult problem for all managers. They need to pick the best eleven players who are motivated in a empty stadium. I have seen a lot of games already since the restart and a lot of player in all teams look lost in the silence. You can joke that the Fulham players should be used to quiet but that is unfair, Fulham are very well supported vocally home and away.

All the moaners have to decide, do they want pretty tap football, something Jokanovic was regular criticised for, or for us to eke out a result. Many’s the time I’ve seen posters saying,” we’ve got to learn to win ugly”, well that’s what they did today. Too many of the players are below par, as individuals and as a team. I thought they actually showed a great deal of character. Birmingham came to shut up shop and give absolutely nothing away. We all know if a team is set up that way even the very best have great difficulty breaking them down. It makes for dire football but that isn’t the attacking team’s fault. Our lads showed true grit and perseverance, not to mention patience and stuck to the task in hand. Parker made exactly the right substations and the whole team responded accordingly. The longer the game went on the better we looked and we got our just, well earned desserts. Every game is now a Cup game, it’s win anyway you can, the only consideration for us and the others in the top 6 is win. Today’s game gave me a real boost in my confidence in the team as I I think they are beginning to show the backbone and commitment needed to go on from here. I’m more optimistic than ever that we have a solid chance of automatic promotion. Just dig in, keep winning, ugly or no and the pressure mounts on the others. Still a lot of points to pick up and to lose, but that goes for everyone. Be nice to see more positive support for the lads, I have no doubt they would appreciate a kind word. COYWs.

Brentford win 3-0 with Benharama scoring a hat trick. As Kunye pointed out earlier this man cost £2.8 mln and as I previously pointed out Brentford's front three are probably a match for anyone. If Brentford gain promotion I believe they will surprise a lot of people as they play without fear.

I have to say it' Brentford are a lot more technical than Burnley and maybe a few others in the prem. If you play good football and open teams up, it doesn't matter in the Championship or prem, you can get results. This is why Wolves settled and thrived early in the prem. Brentford don't have the spending power like Wolves, so a lot harder work is needed in the prem. It proves that if we can pick up players off the radar of the big boys, this will help our cause. Lately, Fulham seem to have a knack for picking the wrong players. Our recruitment needs working on. Maybe get better scouts just like Brentford do. I didn't want to big them up too much because that annoying guy will rub it in on here...

WE really ground out a result and as they tired in the last ten minutes cut them to ribbons. The game has really post lockdown, five subs can have a huge effect on a game and these quarter drinks breaks allows the manager to modify his tactics. It is already a very tactical game but these two things are game changers literally.

In the last ten minutes we looked like one of the top teams in the Division. If we could play like that for 80 minutes each game we could still finish second, though I cannot see WBA losing tomorrow. Must be within 2 points of WBA when we play them.

v.r is right and where would we be without the Mitro goals. The goal tally of Cava,Deco and Knocker is minimal by comparison.Nothing in the last 2 games either but thankfully saved by goals from midfield/defence. Why we are looking to buy Knockeart is beyond me and Harrison Reid is a much more logical signing.

When we have to defend we have no idea... When we have to attack we still have no idea. In the middle of the pitch, need I say more. I thought this game was about sticking the ball in the opponents net more times than our opponents can stick the ball in our net and therefore we win the game... I hate to say this for I am so frustrated and annoyed. However, I will. Roy the Boy was our man, he has more football knowledge on his little finger than the apprentice Scott Parker has in his entire brain.

The first clear error we have is...we just don't move the ball fast enough. Our whole playing style demands we move the ball faster and for some reason (ask Parker) we dont do it.

Can anybody fathom out why that should be?I guess after being beaten easily by both Barnsley and Hull, top six would be a fair achievement, but for the amount of money we have spent and the wages we pay we should be doing a whole lot better.Read we are signing Knockaert for around 10 million, not worth it, neither are Cav or the Decorator. The only one worth keeping would be Reed.Probably wont sign him, just like Norwood or Taggert, who makes the decisions on who stays or goes. We have never really replaced Fredericks at right back, should give SS another try, no point in having an academy if you are not to give promising players like Matt or young Jay a decent run in the team.

I tend to agree with most of what you have written. However securing those 3 forwards is a stroke of genius in my eyes. Just wait and see what a good manager can achieve with them. I was scared we would fail to get promoted and this excellent team on paper would be dismantled. It is said we have an option to make Reid’s transfer permanent, if it doesn’t happen, I imagine it would be because he has no desire to play Parker ball. We failed to replace Malone at LB permanently. Missing out on targettt was terrible work by khan. And yeah, not a RB to talk of since Fredericks (2 seasons!!!)

We baulked at the price wanted for Targett and a couple of years back we would not pay Brentford their asking price for Tarkowski 6m. then just look at what we paid for the crap playing now, loaned out or injured.

We gave Mike Rigg a lot of grief, but his signings by far were better than the crap Tony's system has given us. What's the betting that all the loan signings on permanent deals with the exception of Harrison Reed who wont be signed. Typical Fulham.
