FULHAM today expect to complete the signing of Australia striker Mark Viduka on a free transfer.

He flew into London last night for talks with Cottagers manager Roy Hodgson. Viduka, 33, is a free agent after his contract with Newcastle ran out at the end of last season.

Portsmouth had lined up Viduka in the last couple of weeks, but that deal collapsed because of the club’s financial worries and Fulham have now moved in.

Viduka, who is reportedly asking for a two-year contract, had an injury-plagued time at relegated Newcastle, making only 12 league appearances last season.

Viduka is expected to undergo a medical at Fulham this morning. He scored seven goals in 38 games in two years with the Magpies.

If he joins Fulham as expected, he will be the third Australian at the club joining Mark Schwarzer and Adrian Leijer.
