Fulham have made an official announcement confirming that Pierre Wome's work permit has been granted and he will now be available for squad selection. Although as yet no squad number has been allocate to Pierre

Pierre Wome has joined Fulham, on a one-year-long loan deal with the view of a permanent transfer.

Born in Douala, Cameroon Pierre Wome signed from Bologna after spending three seasons with the Italian side. His previous clubs include AS Roma, Lucchese and Vicenza.

Despite being only 23 years of age, Wome has already made over 50 appearances for his country and was instrumental in Cameroon's success in this year's African Nations Cup beating Senegal in the final.

He first made his debut for the Indomitable Lions at 16 and during this time, the left- sided defender / midfielder played in four African Nations Cup finals. He won a gold medal at the Sydney Olympics in 2000 in which he scored the winning penalty in the final.

Wome played in all three of Cameroon's group games at the World Cup. But he has been unable to pin down a regular starting place with Bologna and was not expected to be first choice under coach Francesco Guidolin next season.

He made just 46 appearances in three seasons after previous spells in Italy with Vicenza, Lucchese, Roma and Bologna.

Wome can play left back or on the left side of midfield and he will be a valuable addition to the Cottagers squad

Due to his participation in Bologna's Intertoto Cup campaign, Wome will be cup-tied for Tuesday's final.
