Newcastle v Fulham - Team News

last updated Friday 08th September 2006, 3:32 PM
Shola Ameobi faces a late fitness test ahead of Newcastle's St James' Park clash with Fulham despite making good progress on his long-standing hip complaint.

Roeder said last week the front man looked certain to be ruled out, but Ameobi has recovered well and returned to full training with the squad this week.

New boy Giuseppe Rossi is likely to start on the bench after sealing his loan deal from Manchester United, while defender Steven Taylor is a doubt after returning from international duty with an injured foot.

Fulham expect to have midfielder Michael Brown fit from a knee problem on Saturday.

Wayne Routledge, signed on a season loan from Tottenham, is likely to start on the bench, while Denmark midfielder Claus Jensen should be back from a calf strain.

Ahmad Elrich (knee) and Simon Elliott (calf) remain out.
