Chris Coleman is confident of surviving as Fulham boss despite a poor run of results and a management cull from chairman Mohamed Fayed.

Craven Cottage boss Coleman has told pals he does not fear the axe after three straight defeats and with games against Liverpool and Chelsea to come this week.

But Fayed last week axed football business director Lee Hoos and finance chief Andy Ambler in a cost-cutting spree.

Fulham insist that Coleman and his management team are safe but he has clashed with the board in the past about his No 2 Steve Kean and there have been suggestions that the Scotsman’s job may again be under threat.

Former Scotland chief Craig Brown and ex-Watford boss Ray Lewington have both been added to Fulham’s backroom staff.
