Fulham keeper Edwin van der Sar has been made team captain following his efforts wearing the armband in the derby game against Chelsea.

Previous captain Andy Melville, 34 in November, seems to be slipping down the Craven Cottage pecking order. Andy joined Fulham from Sunderland in the summer of 1999 on a free transfer under the Bosman ruling. He had been offered a new deal at Sunderland, but decided to link up with Paul Bracewell at Fulham.
Andy skippered The Cottagers during the 1st Division championship campaign following Chris Coleman' car accident and his current contract runs out at the end of the season.
