Another Canary is injured

last updated Thursday 02nd December 2004, 3:10 PM

Norwich City have suffered a blow with the news that Gary Holt faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The Scottish international has been found to suffering from haemothorax, which is a build up of blood between the chest and the lungs.

Holt had been complaining of sore ribs after the weekend draw with Birmingham City and tests have shown the full extent of the problem.

Norwich club doctor Peter Harvey revealed Holt faces several weeks on the sidelines with the problem.

"He is facing a long recovery time," Harvey told the club's official website.

"But knowing how strong Gary is, hopefully he can get back sooner rather than later."

The injury leaves Canaries boss Nigel Worthington short of options in midfield, with Holt joining Damien Francis on the sidelines.
