Fulham striker Andrew Johnson has confirmed he wants to extend his contract at Craven Cottage.

The 30-year-old is in talks over a new deal, although manager Martin Jol revealed in midweek he had shunned an initial deal.

But talks continue and Johnson insists he wants to stay with The Cottagers beyond the end of the season.

"Of course I want to stay at Fulham," he said after scoring both goals in the 2-0 win over Odense in midweek.

"I think all you've got to do is look at my performance against Odense.

"You're asking a player whether he wants to stay at the club but you've just got to look at what I've done on the pitch.

"The work ethic I put in week in, week out when I play and when I come on as a sub.

"I want to stay but that will take care of itself in time.

"I've been in talks with the club for a while but it has been a busy period.

"We've just come out of the transfer window, we've had new players settling in so it is something that is ongoing but hopefully it will get resolved."
