Ashley Cole is suspended for Arsenal's Boxing Day clash against Fulham after accumulating his fifth booking of the season in last weekend's win at Portsmouth.
French Under-21 international defender Gael Clichy is set to replace Cole at left-back, but Freddie Ljungberg could return to the side after recovering from two acute migraines.
Jose Reyes is still ruled out with a knee injury, with Arsene Wenger confirming the Spaniard is now also likely to miss the December 29 trip to Newcastle.
"Reyes is still out with a slight knee problem. There is no ligament damage but a bit of bone bruising so he should be back for January 1," he said.
Jermaine Pennant is also back in contention, but Pascal Cygan and Gilberto are both ruled out with back injuries.
Edu is training after recovering from a broken toe, but is not yet ready to return to first-team action.
Wenger has pledged to restore the Brazilian to the squad when he regains fitness, even though he has yet to agree terms on a new contract.
"Edu is back in normal training although he's still short of going into actual contact work," he added.
"He looks good though - sharp, motivated and focused. Of course, I will consider him when he's fit."
