Stressed Phelan angry at Tigana

last updated Thursday 07th September 2000, 1:40 PM
Terry Phelan said today he has played his last game for Fulham because he has been left out of the side and claimed manager Jean Tigana would not talk to him without an appointment.

The Republic of Ireland full-back, 33, has found himself sidelined since the Frenchman took over in the summer. Phelan, who joined from Everton on a free transfer last season, lost his place to Rufus Brevett and has not played a league game for the club this term.

He has not trained for the last 13 days after discussing his future with the club but denied he had walked out and claimed doctors told him to stay away because of stress.

He said: 'The manager won't talk to me and I have been training with kids.

'When I was at training last time I was not in the right frame of mind so I went home - I felt like killing someone.

'I went straight to the doctor and he said it was stress. I have probably played my last game for Fulham and it's a shame because I liked it there.'
