Stockport face injury worry

last updated Wednesday 23rd August 2000, 4:47 PM
Stockport have suffered a massive blow after it was revealed Jarkko Wiss may have broken his ankle in last night's defeat against Blackpool.

Wiss was substituted at half-time and manager Andy Kilner later revealed the former Moss FK star could have broken his ankle.

The unlucky Finn, who recently received his 30th cap for a 3-1 win over Norway, will now anxiously await the result of hospital X-rays.

"If it's not broken then he has suffered ligament damage which could be just as bad," said Kilner.

Wiss joins the Edgeley Park casualty list that appears to be growing by the day. Tony Dinning and Karim Fradin missed the Blackpool match because of injuries collected during the Wolves game. Chris Byrne, Keith Briggs, Carlo Nash and Shane Nicholson are among the long term injury concerns.

"We must have 10 senior pros out at the moment," sighed Kilner.

Stockport face Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday and will sorely miss the Finn.
