Sean Davis is warning Liverpool that they face a difficult tie when Fulham travel to Anfield in the Worthington Cup quarter-final tonight (Weds).
The 21-year-old has hit peak form at the wrong time as far as The Merseysiders are concerned with three goals in the last two games and a repeat of the Cottagers record Worthington Cup defeat (10-0 against the Reds in 1986) is highly unlikely this time round, given the impressive credentials of Fulham boss Jean Tigana’s squad.
Said Davis: "We are going up there to do a job, and we feel we can give Liverpool a hard time. I have to say that the league is still more important for us. That is our priority.
"Confidence is sky high for us at the moment. Everybody wants the ball. It is always really good to play in a side when this is the case.
" I rememeber the game when we went up there last time (3-1 defeat 1998), and I remember it being quite a close run thing. Peschisolido scored a real quality goal.
"Then, they got a penalty and went on to win, but we are totally looking forward to going up there.
"We're going to see how far we've come. Liverpool are a good side and are up there at the top of the Premiership. They've got a strong squad with a lot of decent players and a good strike force.
Emile Heskey is playing well at the moment but we are a team full of confidence. Hopefully we can go there and give a good account for Division One," he added.
