Leicester City boss Micky Adams has admitted that it has been a tough season for his side on their return to the top-flight. Gary Neville scored a rare goal to give Manchester United a 1-0 victory and ease the frustration at a lacklustre display against the struggling Foxes who put in a gritty defensive performance. The defeat left Leicester six points away from the safety mark with just five games to play.

Man Utd boss Ferguson had to defend his team selection and the suggestion that Leicester were under-estimated. "We have 60,000 people expecting us to win. In the process I have to give players a game who I feel need games."

Leeds lost vital ground on their relegation rivals at the bottom of the table after being held to a 1-1 draw by Everton at Elland Road.

Wayne Rooney marked his return after suspension by giving Everton a 12th minute lead with a sweet 20-yard drive. Relegation-threatened Leeds deservedly equalised in fine style from James Milner after 50 minutes with a clever finish, but they could not fashion a winner. Tomasz Radzinski hit the woodwork for Everton, but Leeds were kept at bay by a succession of stunning saves from former keeper Nigel Martyn.

The draw made it five matches unbeaten at home - a run which has garnered 11 crucial points and kept alive hopes Leeds can beat the drop to Division One.
