Sunday's games in Premiership Match Day 6 saw Souey get off the hook for a little while with Shearer and Owen contributing to a 3-0 away win at Blackburn.
Man Utd and Liverpool slipped further behind Fulham Broadway both unable to score in the lunch time Sky game. Roy Keane broke a bone in his foot which puts him out for some two months. That means no Keano and Saha at The Cottage on the 1st October, shame.
Newly promoted Wigan went 9th in the table after a 1-1 home draw against Middlesbrough. Impressive how newly promoted squads can show more motivation than some other squads in the Premiership.
Man City managed to hit the woodwork four or five times against Bolton and then went down 1-0 to a 90th minute penalty. Ouch!
Match Day 6 continues on Monday with Arsenal and Everton clashing at Highbury. Individual match comments below come from the SportingLife.

Liverpool and Manchester United failed to find a goal between them at Anfield as Chelsea's grip on the Premiership title tightened without them even playing.
Wayne Rooney was under the microscope following his red card in the Champions League against Villarreal but even he failed to enlighten a dull game.
In a match of predictable industry but few genuine chances, only Steven Gerrard looked like providing a winner. The returning Anfield skipper went close with a header, forced a good save from Edwin van der Sar and provided the assist for two wasted Luis Garcia efforts, yet still had to settle for a point.
Just minutes after the final whistle it was reported that Roy Keane suffered a broken bone in his foot during the stalemate. It is not certain when the Irishman picked up the injury but he is thought to have broken the third metatarsal in his left foot and could be out for up to two months.

Michael Owen got off the mark for his new club and left boss Graeme Souness celebrating Newcastle's 3-0 victory at his former club Blackburn.
Owen headed home Newcastle's second goal in the 68th minute, five minutes after Alan Shearer had broken the deadlock with a classic free-kick.
Despite Steven Taylor's 75th-minute sending-off for a second bookable offence the visitors sealed their win with three minutes left when Charles N'Zogbia burst clear and rounded Brad Friedel.

Henri Camara came off the bench to earn Wigan a 1-1 draw against Middlesbrough at the JJB Stadium.
Camara had recovered from a foot injury to put himself in contention for a starting place but made an impact when he came on after 64 minutes.
Aiyegbeni Yakubu had given the visitors a 14th-minute lead but their tendency to under perform after UEFA Cup games continued.

Gary Speed scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner for to earn Bolton a 1-0 victory at Manchester City.
The former Wales captain converted a penalty after Richard Dunne had handled Henrik Pedersen's chip into the area.
It was an astonishing result given that City had dominated the game but failed to make the breakthrough.
