Premiership Saturday Wrap-up

East met West on Saturday by the side of the River Thames and East took all the points.
Fulham played some excellent football in the middle third, creating more chances than promoted West Ham but failed to convert as well as The Hammers. Unfortunately the Cottagers' defence continues to cause major concern.
The result sees The Cottagers sink to 16th in the Premiership with a tough run of four league games on the horizon, away at Spurs, at home to Man U, away at Charlton and then at home to Liverpool. Lots of points there then.
Elsewhere Fulham Broadway won at Charlton maintaining pressure on other potential Championship sides. Individual match comments below come from the SportingLife.

Hernan Crespo was recalled to Chelsea's starting line-up and responded with the opener in a 2-0 win at The Valley to end Charlton's winning start to the Barclays Premiership season.
Crespo, the 30-year-old Argentina striker, had already struck the post in the first half before he guided a superb header home from Michael Essien's cross 10 minutes after the interval.
With both sides looking to maintain their 100% records, Addicks goalkeeper Stephan Andersen had frustrated the champions before Crespo's opener, but the visitors then took full control.
Arjen Robben doubled the lead on the hour mark, finding a yard of space on the edge of the area before curling a delightful shot past Andersen and into the far corner.

| Fulham 1-2 West Ham |
|
Marlon Harewood's fine form continued as the striker inspired a 2-1 win for West Ham in a London derby against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Harewood, who scored a hat-trick against Aston Villa in his last game, opened the scoring just after the break when he delicately flicked the ball over Zat Knight and finished with confidence.
Six minutes later his shot on the turn hit the post but the ball then struck keeper Tony Warner on the way out, resulting in a goal. Luis Boa Morte curled an effort in for the Cottagers - but the Hammers took the points.

| Portsmouth 1-1 Birmingham |
|

Birmingham had Nicky Butt sent off in their 1-1 draw against Portsmouth at Fratton Park.
Lomana LuaLua stabbed in from close range in the fourth minute after finding himself unmarked from Laurent Robert's corner from the right.
The lead only lasted two minutes, however, with Jiri Jarosik heading in a leveller from Jermaine Pennant's free-kick.
Butt went in the final stages of the first half for a clash with Dario Silva - but the two teams had to settle for a point after a goalless second half.

| Sunderland recorded their first point of the season - and came within seconds of their first win.
Gary Breen's seventh-minute header looked enough to beat West Brom at the Stadium of Light, the 31-year-old centre-back meeting Dean Whitehead's corner and the ball crept over despite the efforts of Paul Robinson on the line.
The Black Cats then held firm as the visitors attacked until Zoltan Gera headed in from a corner deep into injury time to snatch a point.

| Aston Villa 1-1 Tottenham |
|
| In the early-evening kick-off, Robbie ended Tottenham's goal drought as he came off the bench to earn them a 1-1 draw they hardly deserved at Aston Villa.
The Republic of Ireland international has struggled to hold down a regular spot this season with Martin Jol preferring Jermain Defoe and Mido until the Egyptian's current suspension.
But, after constant cries from the visiting fans for his introduction, Keane salvaged a share of the spoils for Spurs after James Milner had scored early for Villa.
