Fulham manager Jean Tigana has been told he will have to take the club into the UEFA Cup for the first time without adding to his squad.

Fulham will be in the draw for the first round tomorrow after winning the InterToto Cup against Bologna on Tuesday night.

He is worried that the extra European games and Fulham's early start to the season will eventually take their toll on his squad and damage their domestic prospects.

He has said consistently that he needs more players if they are to avoid these potential problems as new rules mean he would not be able to bring anyone in for four months after Saturday's transfer deadline .

But Fulham chief executive Bruce Langham said: "We do not expect to sign anybody else before the transfer deadline."
