Match Preview - Sochaux v Fulham

last updated Wednesday 07th August 2002, 12:00 PM
Sochaux
Sochaux will definitely be without striker Pierre Alain Frau as they look to overturn the first-leg deficit.

The France Under-21 international twisted his knee early on in the first leg and has been ruled out for at least four weeks. Mickael Pagis, Francileudo Santos and Jaouad Zairi will compete for what is likely to be two striking roles.

'Les Jaunes et Bleus' also have a doubt over keeper Teddy Richert, who picked up a knock in their disappointing 0-0 with Sedan on Saturday, with Jean-Baptiste Daguet on stand-by to take over.

Wilson Oruma et Michaƫl Isabey also return to the squad after missing the curtain-raising draw with Sedan, while coach Guy Lacombe may take the step of resting players ahead of this weekend's visit to champions Lens.

Fulham
Fulham have travelled to France without new signing Martin Djetou.

The former Parma midfielder, who has signed a one-year loan deal with the Cottagers, was expected to be included as Jean Tigana's men defend their 1-0 lead from the Loftus Road first leg.

But Djetou is still awaiting international clearance and will have to wait for his Fulham debut. Long-term injury victims Steve Finnan (ankle) and Lee Clark (Achilles) are still sidelined.

It leaves Tigana likely to field an unchanged side, although he could shuffle his strikers, with Louis Sava and Barry Hayles pressing for a starting slot in what assistant coach Christian Damiano is expecting to be an open encounter.

He said: "We will hope to have more space up front in the second leg because they will need to attack. We will approach the match with the same attitude but we will perhaps play more of a counter-attack game."
