Former Fulham goalkeeping legend Jim Stannard
is set to become a movie star!
The keeper, who made almost 400 appearances for Fulham between 1987 and
1995, has clinched a part in Guy Ritchie's next blockbuster - and will star
alongside Vinnie Jones.
It sounds almost unbelievable, but the story was dug up by the Medway Today
paper in Kent, who have kept in touch with Stannard since he left Gillingham
two years ago.
He has been asked to star in a re-make of "Mean Machine" by his
old pal Vinnie Jones.
Filming began at the weekend and Jim said: "Vinnie's asked me to player
that part of a nasty guard. I've never acted before but I'm really looking
forward to it." Stannard will play the part of a prison guard who is
in a wardens' team which takes on the inmates in a brutal football match.
After hanging up his boots at Priestfield, Jim worked as a goalkeeper coach
for Millwall, Brentford and Northampton.
