Following his £35k transfer from Burnley the ex-Irish Republic keeper played 395 times for The Cottagers between 1976 and 1986. He transfered to Bournmouth and played at various clubs, including 45mins at Chelsea until 1994 when he went abroad to became a player coach.
This morning Gerry Peyton said:
'I was very lucky to be able to return to Fulham as a coach two season's ago and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Club. I have a great affection for everyone at Fulham especially the fans who were always so good to me when I was a player here. I am sad to leave, but having spent many years coaching abroad, I now feel that it is time to consider my options once again on both the international and domestic footballing scene. I wish Chris Coleman and Fulham every success in the future."
Chris Coleman added:
"Gerry was a great asset to the club during his time here and he will be sadly missed. We wish him all the best for the future and I have no doubt that whichever direction he chooses to follow, he will prove to be a great success."
