Fulham v Sparta Prague - Match Preview
last updated Monday 16th July 2001, 11:34 PM
Following on from their 2-1
win over Nancy and a grueling week’s training in Luxembourg, Jean Tigana’s
side will make the short journey down the A3 to Woking FC’s Kingfield
stadium to take on Sparta Prague on Tuesday 17th July.
Having raced away with the Czech Championship last season, Sparta have qualified
for a place in the Champions League and will be looking to prepare for their
forthcoming European campaign.
Fulham will be up against a resolute and well-organised side – a trademark
of Sparta coach Jaroslav Hrebík. Whilst Sparta’s defence will
no doubt be hard to crack, they will also pose a significant attacking threat
through star-striker Marek Kincl and highly-rated youngster Tomáš
Jun.
This will be Sparta coach Hrebík’s first full season in charge
of the Czech side as he looks guide the club to the further stages of the
Champions League.
With the Whites coming through the Nancy friendly unscathed, Tigana is expected
to have the full squad at his disposal. Nonetheless, Andrejs Stolcers and
Barry Hayles could be less likely to figure, both having reporting back
from international duty over the weekend |
