Midfielder John Collins said: "We have to take it as a compliment they way Derby played.
"They got men behind the ball and blocked shots and we found it difficult to find space.
"We played well enough and dominated the game. The problem was that Derby always seemed to have at least five defenders.
"It is always disappointing for the fans when you don't get three points at home and I can understand their frustration.
"But we have to remain patient. It is no use humping balls up the park in the hope of scoring."
Steed Malbranque spurned a glorious chance of securing the points for Fulham four minutes from time when he over-ran the ball.
Derby manager Jim Smith was in bullish mood after picking up a point at Fulham.
The home supporters chanted 'Boring, boring Derby' following the 0-0 draw and, after promising displays against Manchester United and Sunderland, Fulham were left frustrated.
Smith said: "It is up to Fulham to break teams down. There was a lot of huffing and puffing but not much more than that.
"They are used to rolling teams over. But there was no way we were going to let them do that to us.
"I know this was their third game in a week and they didn't play as well as they can.
"But they are going to find that in the Premiership. It will be interesting to see how they do when things aren't going well.
"After Tuesday when we lost to Ipswich we had a game plan and it worked well, especially in the first half."
The down side for Smith was injuries to defender Chris Riggott and Malcolm Christie which mean they will miss the England under-21 match against Germany.
With keeper Mart Poom, Horacio Carbonari, Stefano Eranio and Fabrizio Ravanelli all sidelined, Smith is finding himself not just short of numbers but short of experience.
