Maidstone United chairman Paul Bowden-Brown revealed talks regarding a possible youth partnership with Premier League side Fulham are ongoing.

The Ryman Premier League club held a meeting with the Cottagers last week to discuss a possible youth partnership, following former Stones defender Chris Smalling’s move to the club last summer.

The central defender made his debut for the Fulham first-team in the final game of the Premier League season last month against Everton. He is due to go on a pre-season tour to Australia next month.

Stones chairman believes the meeting went well, but insist nothing has been agreed yet and talks will continue between the clubs in the next few weeks.

He told Kent News: “A number of things were discussed at the meeting which included explaining to Fulham what we do for youth football in the area. They also said what they wanted from us. The talks are ongoing, but the meeting was very favourable towards us.”
