Fulham boss Chris Coleman hopes to sign one more player during the transfer window - but warned the purse strings will not be loosened to complete the deal.

The Cottagers have operated on a tight budget since chairman Mohamed Al Fayed decided to stop bankrolling player recruitment as the club seeks to balance the books without relying on the Egyptian's personal fortune.

There has been reasonable transfer activity at Craven Cottage this summer with Heidar Helguson, Jaroslav Drobny, Ahmad Elrich, Niclas Jensen and Tony Warner strengthening the squad.

But all the newcomers have arrived on the cheap and Coleman insists his last remaining target will also fulfil the requirement to keep expenditure to a minimum.

"We're always on the look out for players but we haven't got a bottomless pit of money. You have to keep your finger on the pulse," he said.

"Once you start saying you're completely happy with the squad you've got, then you start standing still and we mustn't do that. Maybe we can bring one more in before the deadline, but I wouldn't mention names."
