Fulham are understood to be closing in on the signing of Hammarby forward Bjorn Runstrom.

Chris Coleman has identified the Sweden Under-21 international as an ideal player to strengthen his squad and the two clubs are believed to have agreed a fee in the region of €1 million (around £690,000).

The 22-year-old has been in London to discuss the proposed transfer and is expected to seal a move to Craven Cottage.

"It is a big blow for us," admitted Hammarby coach Anders Linderoth to Sportbladet.

Runstrom has previously had trials in London with West Ham and spent time in Italy with Bologna and Chievo.

The tall marksman started his career with Hammarby and returned to his homeland after the experiences in Italy.

Fulham are chasing a new striker because Collins John has been targeted by other clubs, including Birmingham City, and Coleman will be keen to pep up his attack.
