Fulham started quite brightly but failed to capitalise in a period of sustained pressure that resulted in a number of corners.
From one of these came Fulham's only notable effort of the first half which fell
to Neil Lampton, who struck a half volley a foot wide of the post
from 18 yards.
It was the visitors however, that began to dominate the latter stages of the
first half. They capitalised in the 45th minute after Galbiati was
caught in possession on the left leaving Wolves to break swiftly and finish
well from 12 yards.
Fulham failed to impose themselves in the 2nd half and never looked like developing
their passing game.
Consequently, Wolves struck again in the 67th minute when a deep cross led to a lack of communication between Howard and the goalkeeper Bitner which
resulted in an easy header from close range.
Although Fulham rallied, they were limited to a solitary chance from Jermaine
Hunter whose angled drive narrowly missed the far post.
On the balance of play, Wolves were worthy winners with Fulham never really establishing themselves in the match.
