Francis'admiration for classy Fulham

last updated Saturday 19th August 2000, 12:37 AM

Birmingham boss Trevor Francis paid rich credit to Fulham after their impressive 3-1 win over his side on Friday evening.

Francis admitted: "We were made to look very ordinary by a side brimming with confidence.

"I am now beginning my fifth season as Birmingham's manager and that Fulham team is the best away side I've seen play at St Andrew's.

"They have some excellent players and have quality throughout the side.

"The likes of Collins, Coleman and Clark are three players who should be playing in the Premiership."

Fulham's midfield dynamo Clark claimed: "A maximum six points from the opening two games is all we can ask for at this stage of the season.

"We won with style and pace but we are not getting carried away after just two wins.

"The manager encourages us to express ourselves and not to play with fear - as a result we produced some excellent football and we could have won by five or six goals."
