Lawrie Sanchez has declared his interest in the vacant managerial post at Scottish Premier League side Motherwell.

Well are in the market for a new coach following Mark McGhee's decision to take the reins at Aberdeen.

Former star Luc Nijholt has already expressed an interest in the job, while Gary McAllister, who began his playing career at Fir Park, is also keen.

Ex-Northern Ireland and Fulham boss Sanchez has now joined the race and admits he is looking to get back into the game as quickly as possible after more than a year away from the dugout.

"The Motherwell post is one I would not rule out," he told the Scottish Sun.

"The time is right to get back into the game. I'm on the lookout for a fresh challenge.

"As a former Northern Ireland manager, I watch the SPL and players like Steven Davis and Kyle Lafferty.

"I've noticed there have been quite a few jobs going in Scotland in recent weeks.

"I have made a bit of money earlier in my career and it's the love of the game that keeps me going.

"I am interested in the chance to experience something different so a move to the SPL would absolutely interest me."
