Leon McKe1nzie has apologised to Norwich team-mate Damien Francis after accidentally fracturing his jaw.

Francis is facing a spell on the sidelines after suffering the injury in a training ground clash with his close friend McKenzie.

He underwent surgery on Saturday and Canaries manager Nigel Worthington is keeping his fingers crossed that the player will be back action sooner rather than later.

Francis has been Norwich's outstanding performer this season and scored both goals in their 2-1 win over Southampton nine days ago - their first in the Premiership this season.

McKenzie revealed: "I spoke to Damien on Friday and I was so apologetic. It was one of those freak incidents that happens.

"My elbow just caught him wrong in training and I am deeply sorry. He has been in great form for us this season.

"I believe he will not have to have any plates in his cheek which is the main thing, so hopefully he will be back in a couple of weeks."

Worthington added: "It's a big loss to Norwich. The boy is really on top of his form, enjoying it and into the bargain scoring goals. We hope he gets well soon."
