How do you rate Patrick Bamford now, and what a strange and unpredictable season this is turning out to be. Funnily enough, before this season started, there would have been 6 and half dozen Fulham fans touting for Bamford and 6 and half dozen rubbishing Bamford. I wish i could work the maths and technics out regarding Bamford, but i can't. This guy was knocking around in the Championship for years and he is likened to marmite. Bamford has plied his trade for Forest, Derby, Middlesboro, Chelsea, and many more clubs now. If somebody can come up with the mathematical formula on why a player like Bamford who was deemed a good Championship player can now suddenly outperform seasoned professionals such as Aguero in the prem? Apparently, Bamford is a like him or loave him character in the dressing room for some past clubs. His choice of newspaper was either the Guardian or the Times which makes him 'er' articulate and intelligent, which they say is rare in footballers. Anyway, a well-deserved hattrick against a rejuvenated Villa has put more noughts on Bamfords value which is well deserved in my opinion. Maybe the secret to Bamford's performance in the prem is down to better quality players Bielsa has gotten around him. This is a puzzle concerning us? Is there possible improvement within our squad? Just like Leeds, we now have better quality players around our underperforming squad now. Mitrovic is look on as our only proper striker, but we also have 5-6 so called strikers who 'er' apparently are not worthy to be called strikers. We at Fulham are slow burners and maybe we will see a miraculous performance from one of our no-hopers? We can only hope, and starting against Palace tomorrow. maybe Kebano will be first up in this trial? Remember guys, this is a new slate for everyone, and it will be unfair to write off anybody until we try out these new combinations with the newbies. A Bamford performance and goals is showing that we can never write anybody off completely, and there is hope for the likes of 'er' Kamara yet? (note that i put a question mark around Kamara) COME ON FULHAM!!!!!!!
Leeds done it again. And some one on here said there bubble has burst. They can put that ball over that line.
posted by geezer (Guest) - Saturday 24th October 2020, 9:05 AM
Maybe there are better defences in the Championship? :)) Geezer I think someone said they thought Leeds bubble WOULD burst, presumably before the end of the season, which may or may not prove to be the case. Who knows, I wouldn’t have given them a snowballs of beating AV, but then again I wouldn’t have given Bamford a chance in hell of scoring even once in the PFL! That’s how much I know:))
posted by Mortlake (Guest) - Saturday 24th October 2020, 10:46 AM
Leeds were much better than us last season and have purchased some good players we should remember that and that we are bottom of the table not them. This mocking is all rather hollow at this time if we get above them in the table perhaps then we can do that, but that is probably a hostage to fortune situation.
posted by The Time Is Now - Saturday 24th October 2020, 11:03 AM
To be fair Leeds are a sleeping giant, when I was growing up they were always top 3,very impressed with their manager and signings not sure how planned this all was but good luck to them.As for Bamford thought he was at best average in the championship can’t believe he’s got so many goals already.
posted by Chief (Guest) - Saturday 24th October 2020, 11:55 AM
Bamford has faced the challenge of becoming a Premier League player head on, some of our players have not done that. Mitro for example has the look of a man who does not know what is going on.

Watching the forest derby game on sky . Knockaert can actually cross a ball
I was going to make the same point. Actually, I don't think his ability was in doubt, even though he might not quite be PL class. This does back up the suggestion that it is our coaching and man-management is not up to scratch. However, I am not advocating sacking Scott Parker. The club has gone down the route of an inexperienced manager and we need to back him and appreciate that he's going to make mistakes.

The class difference between the Championship and the Premier League gets greater each year, the main difference is speed of thought and action. You cannot standstill with the ball for even a fraction of a second as it will taken off you. Ream used to be our most mobile player and out best passer he is now a caricature of that player.

He showed up again for Rangers tonight in a crucial game. Kemar seems to have a knack for scoring in big games, but not sure about the competition Rangers are playing in Europe? This is one player we might have joined in the competition for. Whatever Rangers paid for Kemar, we might have stepped in with a bigger offer. Nice guys come last. Sometimes we need to be a bit more ruthless in transfer dealings ect...

Scott Parker confirmed on sky today that the door is still open for Seri. Parker thinks that Seri possesses a touch of class. Seri's claim to fame was that wonder-goal he scored 2 years ago against Burnley in our 4-2 win. Sky obviously flashed up the famous goal which lit up the premiership for a brief moment. Parker wants to accommodate Seri in his 25 man only squad and i think he talked some more about Seri's opportunities being active up to the January window. This news might not send tears of joy to most Fulham fans, but i suppose that it couldn't do much harm giving Seri another chance. Look what happened to Kamara, and now Kamara is a golden ray of light. Smile on folk's, we can do it. Staying up that is...
Kamara is WHAT?

Sorry' it was a daft comment which we don't need. A win and a few goals are needed between the Palace west Brom, West Ham? Everton? Leicester. What comes after that is Man City and Liverpool before a rest bite of 3 winnable games, Brighton, Newcastle, and Southampton. This league is no joke. I just hope we can find a few wins and goals from our team...

Seri obviously does not look good in training either perhaps their something he needs to discuss with a sports psychologist as a good player does not become a bad one as his pre signing value make him one of our most expensive buys.
posted by The Time Is Now - Friday 23rd October 2020, 11:23 AM
I suppose its nothing to do with the fact that he couldn't give a toss, wishes he was any where but S.W.6, and will just have to get by on his reported £65,000 a week till the January window when he can bugger off to somewhere else.

Source: https://fulhamfocus.com/article-the-changing-place-of-tom-cairney/

12 goals, 10 assists. The only player to manage double figures in both metrics in the 2016/17 Championship season. There has long been a debate over the best way to utilise our captain, one that Scott Parker must have had with his staff, and probably internally when he took the job in the midst of our last, and ultimately, doomed Premier League campaign...

It appeared initially that Parker would restore Tom Cairney to his familiar, and seemingly most impactful, advanced playmaker role, or the traditional No.10, after he had been banished to the right hand side of Fulham’s midfield, if not the bench, by Claudio Ranieri.

The result was a Premier League goal against Everton, arriving into the opposition box in a manner not dissimilar to the goal that took us to the promise land. He continued in this role while the inevitable happened, and we made our return to the second tier, albeit with a slight upturn in performances and improved mood around the club.

At the start of the marathon 2019/20 season, Cairney was still frequenting the hole behind Aleksandar Mitrovic, and arguably to good effect. In the opening 10 league games, Cairney contributed five goals, and barely a week seemed to pass without him lining up a trademark curler from 25 yards, before witnessing the ball fly in to the top corner. It seemed Cairney was back to his goalscoring best. He also provided three assists across those games, further suggesting he was en route to matching the productivity he had shown under Slavisa Jokanovic. But then something happened. Something that meant Cairney only added a further three goals across the rest of the season, and did not add an assist to his tally at all.

That something was Josh Onomah. Making his first start at the end of November, he is arguably more athletic, more mobile and dynamic, and took over the mantle as Parker’s preferred no.10. But Onomah wasn’t doing the same job Cairney had been fulfilling, only providing 3 goals and 3 assists across the regular season himself. Instead, he was initiating the press, and battling to win the ball back higher up the pitch. Something that had rarely, if ever, been a part of Cairney’s repertoire. Cairney was now playing deeper, which was most evident in the Playoff Final against Brentford.

In his deeper role Cairney is responsible for starting attacks from his own half, and providing an option to return the ball to if an attack meets a barrier in the opposition half. He is now the reset button of the team. If it didn’t work, and we still have the ball, go back to TC. He is very good at recycling and retaining possession. Even in small pockets of space, and under pressure, he can find a way out, and escort the ball to safety.

This deeper role has continued into this season, slotting in alongside the impressive Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, who provides the dynamism and combativeness to compliment Cairney’s clam. However, Onomah seems to have been displaced by the undeniable upgrade that is Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Another athletic, physically gifted, younger man.

But why has Cairney’s position and role been altered so drastically when he hasn’t demonstrated the defensive awareness to play a position such as this previously? I believe there are a few contributing factors. The first, is that in the last three seasons, Cairney has suffered at various points with injuries. The dynamism that existed previously isn’t as evident in 2020. We see flashes of it, but it’s not with regularity that Cairney waltzes past three opponents on dancing feet, manipulating the ball while effortlessly holding off opponents before injecting three strides of pace that allow him the space to make his next move. More commonly, he now stops, turns, and plays the simple pass, recycling possession in a manner that seems to please his manager. More on this later.

The next contributor is Mitrovic. In Cairney’s most prolific season, Fulham played with pressing forwards in the form of Sone Aluko and Floyd Ayite, who were often complimented by an exciting Ryan Sessegnon or enthusiastic Neeskens Kebano. This was particularly the case when Chris Martin attempted to use Craven Cottage as a “train station”. The front line, then, did the pressing, leaving Cairney free to roam behind them and pick up the pieces. He could drift into space without attracting the attention of defenders, who were preoccupied with the energy in front of him. Those attackers were no where near as prolific as our talismanic Serb, but they provided the chaos to allow Cairney to flourish. With Mitrovic, who offers so much, but not the same level of intensity in the press, the no.10 now has a greater responsibility to defend in the opposition third. Cairney’s attributes, in addition to the physical problems he has faced do not make that viable now. He doesn’t appear to have a burst of pace that was once available, even if rarely used out of possession.

The third, and perhaps most important factor in this change of role, is of course the manager who dictates it. Scott Parker has a defined way that he wants his team to play. He tells us this after every match. Whether we are immediately aware of what that way is, or agree that it is indeed the best way, is not important in this instance. He believes in it, and so he will impose it on his players. In order to carry out this preferred approach, Parker will feel he needs a player in his own image to do the job he would understandably value, after making a career out of it himself. Among those who rated Parker the player and just as much among those who didn’t, it’s unanimous that he loved a turn. And turn he did. Again, and again. Next time you watch Tom Cairney, see if there’s anything familiar about what he does in his new position. Could it be that Parker, is moulding his captain into a modern day version of himself? Sure there isn’t the same tackling intensity, but it is worth noting that under Jokanovic, Cairney attempted 75 and 62 tackles in The Championship. Under Parker last season, that number was 86, despite playing as a no.10 for the first four months.

It makes sense that Parker would want his captain to embody his own philosophy, and where else is a retired player going to generate their philosophy from, if not from their own career? Scott Parker was not known for delicate looking finishes into the top bin. He was a metronome around which his teams were built. The constant, always available for a pass, and consistent in his work to retain possession for his team. Alongside a force like Anguissa, Cairney doesn’t need to be the ball winner his manager once was, but his technical ability does make him a more natural candidate to receive the ball from the defence and begin the progress into opposition territory via passes. The team Parker arrived to as a player, when he joined Fulham had not long lost Danny Murphy and more recently Moussa Dembele. He would have been aware of the limitations of his new team mates in comparison to those they had replaced. Now, in Anguissa, he could feel he has his Dembele, and in Cairney, he may be looking for his Murphy. Another player who started his career as technical attacking midfielder, before dropping back into a more disciplined role, initially alongside Dickson ‘The Destroyer’ Etuhu.

The modern game has developed in a way that means the traditional 10 is less spotted. James Rodriguez starts from a wide position for Everton. Arsenal, once the home of the technical 10, don’t operate with one. The position is more suited to a physically imposing, athletic individual, than a technically gifted player full of finesse. Gone are the days of Mesut Ozil, Christian Eriksen and Juan Mata. At least for the time being. Cairney’s change is one born out of necessity and circumstance. Simply put, following injuries and an advancing age, it’s more suitable for him to drop back, than adapt to push forward while we await the resurrection of the old school CAM. In the meantime, expect less worldies, less assists, and more turns.
A well though out article and it shows why tactics have to keep changing as once the opposition know how each player in a team behaves they will find how to counter it. The manager must be constantly changing the players roles or give them licence to change them in a match if needed.

Not very good on the technics, but i like the way Cairney performed in the Sheff Utd game and i hope it continues. It is true that playing players like Onomah will change the way how Cairney plays his football. He is fitting in with Loftus Cheek and Anguissa in the role Parker chooses now but tactically we will get found out if we try and do a Burnley. I wouldn't put Onomah under Loftus Cheek? Onomah is his own player and character, Onomah will be useful in bringing a different dynamism to a game. If and when we get better tactically, i would hope that we develop the ability to win games that are deemed unwinnable as Wolves do now. I hope that Scott Parker succeeds because i feel this Fulham team will be a lot better technically and i also think that our team is a managers dream-team which will be a pleasure developing if that makes sense? It is true that we are a player short in the striker department but at the same time, let us see what we can get out of the Cavs, Lookman, etc. We are not Ancelottis level to work with but we can still be a force outside the top 10. Lastly, i would build a team around our young sensation Lookman. Simple reason is that this kid is brilliant, and he will make the bigger impact more than Ross Barkley at Villa. It is all down to Scott Parker. He needs to grow up quickly on the technical side starting with Crystal Palace. The danger in that game is Wilfred Zaha, and he will hurt us again if we are not aware. This is a defensive puzzle to sort out, and the door is still open for some of our old liabilities in defense to make amends. This is what i want to see saturday. Everyone else and Mitrovic will know what to do, nuff said...

Ozil is left out of the Arsenal squad. So he will be sitting on his lazy arse for the next 3months while drawing a salary of 1.5m per month. Could we have made a cheeky bid to loan him with Arsenal paying 60-70% of his salary?
We have our own Ozil ......... Seri

Personally, I think Ozil has been treated diabolically by Arsenal. They negotiated and agreed his salary and at 32 (c63/4 equivalent in a normal job), why should he take a wage drop or an inferior offer in another country. I'm sure if any of our bosses tried to move us on to another job that we didn't want or offered us less money to go on gardening leave we would refuse - I certainly would!

Arsenal got rid of 30-40 staff during the covid to save a couple of million pounds per year. since then they have spent over £100m and paying more stupid salaries. A fraction of that could have saved 30-40 loyal employee families from hardship!

The registered squad is only valid until January and Onamah is out injured for up to 12 weeks. SteffJo and KMac were never going to make the squad for the Premier League but it doesn't mean that they can't play in the FA Cup....

Johansen is a good player to bring on when you want to hold a lead. I assume we tried to sell Seri in the summer with no takers. Patrick Roberts the much travelled loanee from Man City has noe joined the aged much travelled Manager of All Clubs - and Faiths Neil Warnock at Middlesborough FC. Ryan Sessegon has joined Hoffenheim TSG 1899 in the German Bundersliga side. Well I hope he liked beer and sauages because he will get plenty of them in southern Germany. Our Timmy Abraham has gone on loan to get come experience down at Plymouth FC (Do not mention Peter Shilton - still!) in League 1. Playing Under Ryan Lowe their Manager. In a little while from now
If I'm not feeling any less sour
I promised myself to treat myself
And visit a nearby tower

And climbing to the top
Will throw myself off
In an effort to make it clear to whoever
What it's like when you're shattered

Left standing in the lurch, at a church
Where people saying
My God that's tough, she stood him up
No point in us remaining

We may as well go home
As I did on my own
Alone again, naturally

To think that only yesterday
I was cheerful, bright and gay
Looking forward to, but who wouldn't do
The role I was about to play

But as if to knock me down
Reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch
Cut me into little pieces

Leaving me to doubt
All about God and His mercy
For if He really does exist
Why did He desert me

In my hour of need?
I truly am indeed
Alone again, naturally

It seems to me that
There are more hearts
Broken in the world
That can't be mended
Left unattended
What do we do?
What do we do?

Alone again, naturally

Now looking back over the years
And what ever else that appears
I remember I cried when my father died
Never wishing to hide the tears

And at sixty-five years old
My mother, God rest her soul
Couldn't understand, why the only man
She had ever loved had been taken

Leaving her to start with a heart
So badly broken
Despite encouragement from me
No words were ever spoken

And when she passed away
I cried and cried all day
Alone again, naturally
Alone again, naturally

Earlier we had a post about a European Super League and people started digging each other out for political reasons...Football has become corrupt..Blatter, Platini, Walker and others have shown to be so...There must be people on here who know how to start a proper petition, I'm not one of them, I have the faith and the will to get it done but not the ability...I love my team but see us being swept away if the greed of the top profile sides in Europe are allowed to prevail. Their greed is no good for anybody but themselves, an elite without relegation that no-one else will ever enter. For the good of the game they must be stopped or at least expelled, they can't have it both ways.
change.org seems to be the go-to for petitions and the setup is simple. First, however, you need to define what the petition aims to accomplish; do you want regime change, a public inquiry or what? Then contact the media sports writers with a press release restating the case and linking to the petition. Good luck with it.

I think that you guy's know where i am going with this one? I don't think that we necessarily have striker problems and arguably, there are more pressing concerns to worry about? I think our defense is starting to look a bit more solid, and i personally would like to see our Danis super-star defender make his debut asap. We didn't get the big catch, Josh King in the window and now we know that we must make do with the squad we have. Take you pick from the strikers available? Kamara' Kebano. Cavaliero, Bobby Reid, Even Lookman, and we know about Mitrovic. Scott Parker likes to tinker, and Scotty will have the pleasure to tinker to his heart's content. For instance, if Mitrovic isn't available, why not put Lookman where Mitro would play? This is a nice headache for Parker, and it doesn't look an ideal situation for Fulham if Mitrovic is out for various reasons. This situation is on Tony Khan's head also, but it wouldn't be that much of a surprise if the likes of Kebano or Kamara would slot into the striker role also. We can argue that Kamara has had his chance and that he is not good enough, but it is still Tony Khans call and certainly not what i think or anyone else. We have a lot more better players around us now, and better players can bring out the best in the likes of Cavaliero who is also down as a striker. There is a stir and much more forward-thinking in this Fulham side, and it is apparent that we have turned a corner and i think that first win is not far away. We didn't buy Josh King and we look short upfront? This problem is on Khans head and Scott Parker will rise or fall on his sword in this situation. We have plenty of time i think to let Parker do his magic. I think we are in for a treat in this Fulham side and i think that Parker's blue-print plan might bare fruit. If not? we all know the final outcome for Scott Parker. Tony Khan will 'er' escape the guillotine whatever happens.

There was a lot of criticism in the past weeks why we let Mawson go on loan. If we had kept him and after 3 matches, he picks up an injury and out for another 6months (i hope that's not the case with him last night), Parker would be crucified. I hope Mawson will be ok. All good for Fulham and we still waiting on Joachim Andersen's debut for Fulham. Andersen is highly rated and if he is up to a good standard, our defense is going to be bullet-proof. Our goalie is far busier than normal but at the same time, we seem to be more solid at the back and our leaking goals mentality is getting better. If we are lucky to get these guy's to form solid defensive partnerships? I hope we have learned to keep our best players and not turn into a selling club as we used to...

Trouble with Palace is that you never know what you will be up against. I think we can surprise them though. Must drop Cavalero (absolutely MUST), beef up midfield with Reed and hopefully give Kongolo a start. First off the bench Kabano. Frankly, I expect SP to play Ream and Cavalero.
Another £15 and another draw methinks but could be 0-0 this time as they are pretty toothless as well...

It’s about time that these posters realise that whatever dross they post will not persuade the club to do what they want. Even if we play well they HAVE to find a fault. Wish they would put their energy into supporting the team we have at the moment and stop the moaning.

I would also add that I am not interested in what money we got from Liverpool, what the new signings did for their previous clubs, how much wages they are on, what the new kit is like, youth players who are no longer at the club, what players are out on loan, who will make the premier league squad, and previously how many fans did we take to away games. I am interested in what is happening on the pitch NOW.

With you all the way Gaz. I just feel that so many opinions are expressed which are premature. Nobody is given a fair crack of the whip to show what they can do anymore. We’ve all seen new signings rubbished before they have kicked a ball and in quite a few incidents criticised without ever having been seen by the idiot making the criticism. It just doesn’t make sense. Bet these clowns would love their work colleagues to continually be as critical of their performance. As to Parker, no doubt he is relatively inexperienced, is still learning his trade but he did get us promoted, he has been involved in what I think are a bunch of good signings. Now let’s give him a chance to do his job, win or lose, give the bloke a break. He may fail or he may surprise you, now is not the time to judge. Waste of breath anyway because I don’t think he’ll be going anywhere soon. Quite rightly.

Putney Pete, I have not said that I rate Parker at all. What I am saying is he inherited a team that was not good enough. Now he has the making of a decent side with the players that we have got in. We have got to give him a chance. Also the league doesn’t end in December. If this side do not do well then Parker will have to go and it’s nothing to do with being right. Your opinion is what you think and what you are entitled.

Max Kilman man of the match for Wolves against Leeds tonight started out at the Fulham Academy, looks a good player,we could certainly do with him now.
Yes, Max looked good. It begs the question how a talent like him slipped through our academy system. Matt O'Reilly is another with natural talent and has gone( don't know if he's been signed by another club), but with better handling and career development, should have been TC's understudy.

Reviewing our performances to date, analysing the collective results of those we have played, Arsenal apart, I don’t think we’re in too bad a place. Close results with Wolves and Sheffield and a spirited come back against Leeds all point to the fact that there isn’t a great gape in quality, albeit I acknowledge they are currently playing better football than us. Acquisitions , Lookman, Tete, Lemina, Robinson are showing great possibilities. Anquissa is class and Areola is a quality goalkeeper. If Cheek plays to his potential and Andersen is as good as they say, we’ve got a good team. No Ream, no Cavaliero, no Bobby DR, no Hector, Harrison back and we have all the potential to really make a fist of it. I’m feeling, hopefully Not misguidedly, quite confident. Think of us as the Tortoise and Leeds as the Hare. I think we will only improve, not sure Leeds will stay the distance. That’s a big call:))
Watching Leeds playing against Wolves it now looks like their bubble has burst, and they will be crashing down to earth very soon. Their only two wins have been against us and Sheffield United and they were extremely lucky in both cases. In my opinion, wherever they finish in the table in the end, it will be below us, as we will improve in leaps and bounds, and Leeds have reached their peak already. COYW

After tonight's 0-0 draw between WBA and Burnley, we are back at the bottom of the table again, which although disappointing, that draw was the best result for us. What a pity we didn't get all 3 points yesterday, which is even more annoying now. However, providing we can pick up 4 points or more in the next two matches, we should at least be out of the relegation zone. I am reasonably confident now that we will have a fairly good season, without tearing up any trees, so a bottom half finish, but in a safe spot come May.

You have to accept the teams we play have good managers and good players and consequently they will attack us and we will have to defend functionally. No kicking the ball forward aimlessly, if you cannot make a pass kick it into touch. Mark properly at all dead ball situations. If possible stop crosses and passes into the box. We defended yesterday reasonably well but some of Ream's clearances would have been taken more advantages of by better teams than Sheffield United. We showed in the second half we now have more pace in the team and can break quickly and with Cairney further up the pitch he will not slow it down. Against the top teams who will dominate the ball we must be able to break quickly and be ruthless in our finishing. The home an away difference has now been almost eliminated to the tactics we use must be based on our strengths and the oppositions weaknesses. If we can do all these thing almost perfectly every game we will have a season well beyond anyone's expectation.

There were some real positives. Nice to see an excellent goal, shame about the unnecesary kick by Mitrovic which denied us of all three points and worse when you consider no professional footballer should miss scoring from the penalty spot should they? Especially with no baying crowd winding them up! Fulham have the same problem as Derby Country. We're becoming a one man (Mitovic) team and that ain't good. Now we have some other players scoring, why not drop him? We play better without him. Agree?
“Now we have some other players scoring....” who exactly? Do let us know. Once again poor recruitment by Tony. No back up for Mitro, no number 10 to play off his shoulder. Players going wide, maybe, upfront and personal? I think not.

But if you try sometimes you might get what you need...I think the R STONES lyric sums up FFC.. They tried & got a fair result & all we need is to stay in the prem very possible in my view... And for all the Mitro knockers, think again !!! Just my opinon...Cairney,Ream,Knockaert & Cavaleiro plus 1 or 2 others need a new home in the next window...If Lookman carries on in same vein I hope we can hang on to him.
I agree with Ream and Knockaert (although Knockhaert is at Forest until at least January in any case) but don't get the Cairney knockers. He should not be captain in my opinion but I'm surprised some people can't see what a gifted player he is and how much of our offensive play goes through him. He is the glue in our team and respected by players, Head Coach, coaching staff and Owner alike who all but one know a little more than us about football methinks. I think some should get of his back and watch him for 90 minutes instead of 30 seconds on MOTD....

It has been mentioned on another site...... why did the referee walk along the penalty area warning all the Sheffield players not to encroach while Mitrovic was waiting to take the penalty .The time taken must have added to the anxiety . Professional players know the rules and if they had encroached we are allowed to retake the spot kick , it’s in the rules of the game . But when they had a penalty the ref did not spend time walking the area warning our players . Should this be questioned by Fulham ?
And as Mitro took it a SU player did encroach .....VAR should of ordered a re-take

Result apart, I thought that we looked much more cohesive as a team yesterday and defended well at times. Remember the goal keeper is part of the defence so his saves at critical moments were decisive and goalkeepers are there for a reason. As with many people, I think the weak link is Cav but I don't think he can play with wing backs and is more suited to a 4-4-2 formation so should be kept for when we play like that. The new CB from City (I won't embarrass myself by spelling his name incorrectly) looked sound and cool on the ball but continually made up for mistakes by Anguissa's wayward passing and Ream's mistakes so once paired up with Andersen could make a world of difference to our defence. I like the look of the front three but Mitro has got to stop wandering out wide and needs to goal hang a bit more. I think we are getting there but the gap is growing between the bottom three and the rest and if tonight's game is a draw we will back on the bottom so we'd better there faster than British rail ;0)
Normally Mitro would have hammered that ball into the net. Equally that header he had near the end he would normally bury. He had a bad game is all we can say unless he finds the pressure of the Premier League unbearable compared to the Championship or internationals.

I find it strange Murphy to conclude Sheffield United will be ok this season but without saying it implied Fulham will not. On yesterday’s performance, we looked a more capable team of scoring goals and staying up. When we get Anderson back, we will literally have a completely different team to last season (thought we’d not do that!). We will get our first win against Palace or West Brom. I am confident we will. Sheffield United is destined to do another Huddersfield.
Difficult for ANYONE to make predictions this term. Who'd have thought Villa would have maximum points and Everton would be top of the Prem after four or five games? Topsy turvey season until we get fans back and anything could happen in any game with VAR so take all these comments with a very large pinch of salt....

I thought Villa would do well. Just look at their signings and Ross Barclay was a master stroke - probably thanks to J Terry. Grealish is the key. A truly great player not recognized by Southgate. I'm still not sure about Watkins either. My forecast for Villa is contending for top 8. I think FFC will scrape home but with less than 30 points. Burnley, WBA and Sheffield Utd less.

We defended very well in the first half but we also attacked and had a lot of the ball and never really looked in trouble. We attacked more intensely in the second half and if Mitro had not missed that penalty had not missed a sitter for him and had not given away a penalty we would have won 3-0 which would have been a better reflection of the match.

The team overall played much better so I don’t want to take away credit but we defended very well in the first half?? We made quite a few mistakes but got away with it thanks to the keeper! We bossed the game in the second half, if Mitro had a normal Mitro day, it’s a 3-0 win. Tactically poor for the first 45, the changes Scott made paid big dividends. The one mistake was selection - Neeskens has proven himself far more worthy and effective than Cav. Unless he was injured, he should be starting.
Drago, you're a naughty boy to say such things and obviously didn't get the message. We should have won by a hat full we're told, strangely told by the same people who forecast we would get well beaten. Parker obviously doesn't have any tactical nous they say, the half time changes purely a random panic move and as for Mitro, well he's a slow, useless bugger who doesn't know where the goal is and should be benched in favor of Kamara and if dopey Parker had done that we would have racked up a billiard score or more. Seriously. You know, I very seldom comment on games as I have to watch the play through the lens of the TV camera. It strikes me that those whose opinions are rancid, to say the least, might usefully adopt the same restraint.

Calm down Ari we drew with another team that haven’t won a game in the league and who were better than us in every department in the first half. When Parker puts together a run of five or six tactically good performances then I will begin to believe he is learning and has the potential to be successful in this highest of levels. So far he has managed 15 (I think) games in the PL and has only won 3. We all witnessed signs of positivity yesterday but please put it all into perspective and try to assess things a little more holistically.

I've been a consistent Parker critic, but I didn't predict we'd lose to Sheffield. I thought we'd win. The first half was pure luck, a top-10 side would've punished us. But at we did play MUCH better, with the same players. There were adjustments made. On a different day, it could've been 3-3.

Was our 4 on 2 break in the second half ...... Ball out to Cavaleiro.... he couldn’t even put the ball across the box to our 2 unmarked players !!!! Hopeless
Over the years we have had lots of wingers who do not know how to or forget to cross the ball.

We will need to improve for sure because teams like West Ham can hurt back. Spurs 3-0 up and cruising, and a Gareth Bale miss at 3-1 should have wrapped that game up. In this league, you can't afford to switch off because you will get punished. We can survive in this league but we also need to take our chances and any half chances. Today was poor and we now know the cost and hurt the prem can deliver...
Sorry today was not poor, it was the best we have played this season. Mitro is not pants at all he had a bad day. Yes he has got to get better, yes I don’t think he is fit or maybe the internationals have got to him fitness wise. He missed a few that he should have scored. Do you want him dropped? Who will take his place?. I can’t understand why you called him pants, yes he did not play well. No need for juvenile name calling. Mistakes happen, a bit like blaming Parker for not getting Lookman on earlier when he started.

2 players go for a difficult ball at the same time. Only 1 can get there first, so if their boots collide one of them has committed a foul. What absolute bull. Referee should lose his fee and Mitro should have stood back and admired his opponent's talent. Who is making the rules now?
Arsenal yesterday - same incident no pen. Also not one shef Utd player appealed. Remember when mitrovic handled against Brighton two seasons ago and gave away a penalty, might have to keep him out of our box

I didn't, along with many others, watch todays game, but I did listen to it on Talksport 2, and they were quite impressed with us at times, and I had to miss the last 15 minutes, so I was so disappointed when I heard the result later. We needed a win today, but hopefully things will improve a lot more against Palace. Why oh why didn't we sign Danny Welbeck, or Troy Deeney, another disastrous decision from our management and coach, and we may live to regret it.

No penalty How on earth can two players make the same move for a ball, one is fair the other a penalty. Absolutely ridiculous! So if Mitro (If he was quicker) had got his foot up first, it would have been a foul by their player? Poor refereeing and poor VAR

Mitrovic was pants today, and he gave away that game. Lookman like i say, Parker should build from this guy because he is our only sensation and he makes things happen because he wants to play football. Contrary to what some so called Fulham fans say' Tom Cairney is a top player and we are lucky to have him. Even Ream looks like he can finally settle down and be a solid defender in this league. We will be better when our Danish sensation makes his full debut for Fulham. In the meantime, there is no doubt, there is no wait and see bull-crap! Adaemola Lookman is the real deal, and i am shouting it! It can take a person 5 seconds to see talent, or it can take a while. I see Lookman, and it took me 10 seconds to see that this guy is good, and i aint bothered what any doubters say...
SP and Mitro OUT. But who will come IN?

Relieved to get our 1st point but also angry it wasn't 3. I am sick and tired of VAR already, thought it was designed to help referees and pick up on clear and obvious errors....is using a microscope for offsides pointing to clear and obvious errors? Yesterday it was disgraceful and today it gave Sheffield United a penalty for nothing...a 50/50 ball that both players were going for, every coming together is not a foul. Use it properly or get rid.

At half time we would have taken a point. Improved 2nd half and with our signings we look so more threatening going forward.Frustrated with the result but seeing signs to be a little more optimistic about the season ahead. Adarbioyo looked class to me, so composed, could be a real find. Loftus Cheek needs a few more minutes but showed glimpses, Lookman, well, another gem. All in all reasons to be positive me thinks

It pains me to say it but if Kamara was playing instead of Mitro we might have won 3-0. I do not remember Mitrovic having such a bad game for us.

Agree Guardian. The newbies look good acquisitions, and we are waiting with bated breath for Andersen who if he lives up to his reputation, he will bring even more to our team. I also think that individually, players from our old guard like Ream will gain more confidence because they have never had better players around them. Even Odoi could gain a lot more now and there might be a time when he is needed. Confidence wise' Cairney is growing and he will get better for playing around Robinson, Lookman etc. 1 point and still bottom but there is a lot to hope for and build on. Mitrovic, we can excuse his awful day and put it down to international duty. Mitrovic knows that he let Fulham down today, but he will put it right next time around...

Come on guys don't get on Mitrovic's back, every striker has days like he had today. The service he got in the 1st half was abysmal, if we play the game like we did in the 2nd half he will come good.

By the way Owen, we're not still bottom, Burnley don't have a point.

Bit stupid some of the comments. Mitro is a top international player with a decent international side who has cut it in this league before and has scored against top defenders. Every player has off days and bed periods of form and fitness and he has struggled in a poor side this year. But it’s typically fulhamish to turn on a player for a few poor games

What a bad game though, misses a penalty gives away a stupid penalty and misses a sitter. Without him we would probably have won 3-0. He has no real competition for the spot is the problem, a hell of a disincentive.

Parker picks who is fit to play (from his words) & Mitro looked off after the internationals

NRL' you are right in saying we shouldn't get on Mitrovics back, everyone has a bad game from time to time. If there are any doubters still out there that think that Cairney is second rate and doesn't belong in this league? They need to watch our 2nd half again. Tom Cairney was brilliant, he grew into the game and was unlucky not to score one. That peach of a ball in to Mitrovic was what we are looking for from him. I really think that a few clubs will take note of Cairney and see his potential combined with better players around him. I also think that Scott Parker should consider giving Lookman a full debut now the genie is out of the bottle. Arguably, we might have won the game if Parker had acted sooner? Loftus Cheek will get up to speed sooner or later and we have Anguissa. Honestly, i can see Fulham climbing the table, no fear of that...

Fine but we have other players who make a few mistake in a game and are instantly described as useless.
posted by The Time Is Now - Sunday 18th October 2020, 3:50 PM
Cairneys 2nd half performance was good because he was pushed forward where he belongs. Parker's tactics up till then have had him playing too much in our half of the pitch. Martin Jol took us backwards with those tactics.

I didn't watch the game live on tv, but I thought Lookman did get his full starting debut today.

Bigboy' those pesky internationals always get in the way when you need a player at his sharpest. I believe that Mitrovic featured for most of the minutes for Serbia last game? I was blazing angry ant Mitro for the penalty and a nailed-on header for goal? Sadly' Mitro would not have been at his sharpest for this game today. This was the game when we needed Mitro at his sharpest but not to be. Funnily enough, Rangers i believe had 10 players on international duty going into the Celtic game and they won. I am not too convinced on how strong that Scottish league is? Mitrovic will obviously have more quality supply now. Lets just say' he owes us a performance, and i think he knows that one judging from his reaction. He will deliver...

TTIN, what on earth are you on about, saying if Kamara had played instead of Mitro we would have won. What planet are you on, or what funny baccy are you smoking, with a remark like that. Kamara would be lucky to get a place in Wimbledon's team, let alone a Premier League team, and that's what we are, and hope to remain so, but not if Kamara ever gets in the side, him and Cav should never put a foot on the pitch at CC again, To sum up, they are both completely useless.
