It could be a blessing or even calculated by Parker that we are knocked out today. Fixtures piling up. Now both Burnley and Brighton have an extra game to play. I didn’t mind getting knocked out today but was worried Anguissa or Reid getting injured .
Replies
Yes, we've lulled Burnley into a false sense of security (and how!) and we'll make them have it when we play them in the league.

Yes disappointing we lost to a relegation rival but most of the comments on here are like spoilt kids having there toys taken off them. Parker would definitely get us relegated if he didn’t build a new team like he’s done. Get behind the club we need to survive no chance of winning the cup anyway.Mitro lost he’s confidence but was so static today and kept losing the ball will struggle if he leads the line.

Was SP just being clever by fielding a team of proven failures at this level. He could have fielded a team of youngster for experience, o.k the result may have been the same or even worse but at least he would have learnt something about what is coming through. Today he would have learnt nothing apart from proving a point to the owners he needs a stronger squad at least I hope that it is why else would he play repeated failures.

Struggling to find a positive today. 3 shots today at home to Burnley so one every half hour. I am sure Mr Parker will be proud of his lads! Weak poor performance nothing to do with snow or pitch same for both sides. one set of players wanted the win other set wanted to get back in the warm!
Replies
Personally I couldn't give a monkeys about todays result, as we were never going to win the cup anyway this season, and SP knew that as well and that's why he fielded a scratch side, apart from a couple of regulars, and those regulars shone above the rest while making sure that they didn't take any knocks. Burnley can now go away into more fixture pile ups, and hopefully they will get the impression that they will do the same to us when we play them in our league matches. Have they got a surprise coming when we take it seriously.

The team Parker put out was never going to win, so he did not want to win. He must how ever be upset how awful his reserves are.

One clue we have BHA and WBA in the coming week. Burnley have some breathing space to play with!

I suppose none of us will be to upset by today's result or performance, as long as it doesn't adversely affect our ability to get out of relegation. We knew the back 5 we fielded at the start of this season was not good enough and, if they're only playing occasionally, they're not going to improve. We just have to hope that we don't lose too many of our first chouce back 5 (or 6) at any one time and their return lifts the midfield and forwards. It seems Loftus Cheek might not be so bad after all!
posted by Chas (Guest) - Sunday 24th January 2021, 5:24 PM

Disagree, I Was upset because regardless of who we fielded, to lose 3-0 at home to a poor side like Burnley was shameful - as for not bothering because we couldn’t win the cup,To their credit Burnley did’nt see it that way.

A Premier League Club, although probably not for much longer, with a League Two quality pitch. We give the first team grounds crew the week off too? Appearances matter, especially to anyone considering a move here. Utter embarrassment. Have a little pride in your brand ffs

I guess being a Californian you have no idea what snow is. The ground staff worked hard to get the pitch fit for play. The performance from the players today was abysmal but trying to blame the pitch, are you serious?

Not blaming the performance. Same pitch for both sides. Game was over when the team sheets were released. Just a stickler for appearances. The pitch at the dog track was pristine compared to our mess. However, after a proper slagging by you lot, I bow my head in shame.

This seasons shows how much we the fans matter. The match statistics show it is easier to win away this season than it has ever been before. The big teams have huge grounds with massive vocal support is the difference between winning and loosing. Without that we get lots of surprise results and home advantage is negated. Let us hope this helps our survival as our home support does not give us much of an advantage so we may do better without them.

Don’t know the offside law any more !, Hope I’ve seen the last of at least six of these players looked like the start of the season came back to haunt us Thank god for our new central pair are reliable
Replies
You're not alone where the offside rule is concerned now, it changes from game to game depending on who has the whistle and who's sitting in front of the VAR screen... it's now a very unfunny joke. But we didn't lose today because of the laws of the game, we lost today because most of the team couldn't care less and gave up. Adarabayo must be wondering what he did to deserve to play alongside Ream and Hector who have clearly had it and shouldn't wear our shirt again.

Because Tony Khan is obsessed by his computer based system of analysis. He'll never take a chance and dip into the lower leagues where clubs pick up gems like Ian Wright or Jamie Vardy.

Your Holiness- the reason we haven't yet signed the much-needed new striker is because our so-called director-of-football is the incompetent, complacent, negligent son of the owner !Unfortunately Shahid Khan continues to let his idiot-son indulge in his fantasy of being a football-expert.

Sorry but if Parker wanted a striker and did something about it they would have been in by now. Parker picked the team today who looked like they didn't have a clue what they were doing. Mitrovic was a top class international striker and doesn't actually give a crap anymore. Kamara is second class and Ream couldn't play to this standard seasons ago. Hector looked as though he was an improving player but has now gone backwards. Parker is happy to lose narrowly to top teams but we are going to be relegated. Keep blaming the Khans but it was Parkers baby today and his after match just about sums him up.

Your Holiness-I will indeed keep blaming the Khans.Do you really think Scottie hasn't been asking Dopey Tony for a new striker since last summer ? Come on,don't be so naive.Slavisa Jokanovic had huge problems with the Khans as well.Claudio Ranieri also felt underwhelmed by Tony Khan's signings.I suggest you google Craig Kline. That pathetic fiasco sums up how the Khans have approached the transfer-market.

I feel for Joe Bryan though. We owe him a debt of gratitude for his play-off goals, but he was woeful today. And he was poor against United during the week. The bottom line is that, at present, he's not Premiership quality, so why does he hang around at Fulham? He's an intelligent guy, and for the sake of his career, he should be away getting game time in a Championship side.

I'm totally with you GEEZER, we haven't had a manager since the Khan's took over. We have a head coach who has to do the best he can with what he's given and Tony Khan now has a new toy to play with, Wrestling takes up more of his time than we do now. It's time daddy employed football people and told his son to go play with his other toys

I watched Brentford play Leicester and it was quite good. Glad I avoided FFC v Burnley. I forecast defeat when I saw the team sheet. Reality is that to stay in the premier league a club needs a reliable second 11. Clearly we don't have that. I reckon the bookies and pundits realise this and that is why they are not smiling when they take money on FFC going down. What should have been an advertisement to encourage any half interested newcomer to the club will have had the opposite effect. I see Johanson is moving out. Is nobody interested in the rest of the crap? Finally I have to join the Parker out brigade. Ream, Hector, Kamara. How can he sleep at night?

Every time Hector tried a pass it went to a Burnley player. I hope Scott does not say we can concentrate on the league now instead of looking worried that his support players are so awful. We could easily get out of the bottom three then get five or six injuries of suspensions and some of that lot come in, we are doomed.

Rodak yes' to give Areola a rest. Hector should be the steady-man after Andersen but not up to it. The nervousness comes from Hector who makes everyone else panic. Anguissa in midfield has no one to string a ball to because we just can't keep it long enough or do anything with it. Our whole team is disjointed so we might as well play lookman, Cavaliero, Kebano, etc...

It is the consequence of Brexit and the mismanagement of the pandemic response which is fuelling the debate, alongside the PM saying that "the UK government won't allow" a referendum on independence (which would be held post-pandemic)despite the promise being made at the previous referendum that if Scotland remained part of the UK it would so as part of the EU. You might also note that many of the steps taken in England to curtail the impact of the pandemic have followed what has been implemented by the devolved governments of Scotland and Wales. Before any pile-in, I'm only seeking to explain why the discussion is 'live' and I'm not advocating any position for/against independence.

Been thinking the same thing. He was my player of the season last season. He was solid, calm and assured. He oozed confidence that helped the whole defence. He now looks slow and unsure. I’m nervous every time he is involved.

MST has rightly pointed out that our best players are Anguissa and Lookman who are also our standout players in this Fulham side. I would just like to add on to this by bringing to the fore our defensive unit of the above guys. They do not stand out or are as flashy as the Lookmans on a football field, but they are just as important. Andersen seems to be the stand out guy that Parker chooses to hold the captains armband and rightly so is that decision. We have relitive peace and calm in our defencive unit now and we really want to keep it that way. Our old gaurd consisting of Ream Odoi, Hector, and Christie and Bryan were a nightmare put together. I am not saying that our old defence should not feature again for Fulham. So long as at least 3 of the above are welded in our back-line, eaither one of our old guys can deputise in case of injury. Lastly, it is imperitive that Scott Parker seals up our named above four on permament contracts. Parker should seek out their permamency just as importantly as a permament striker. A Roman garson of soldiers was important back in the day of 'er' gladiators and Rome. We need to secure our not so stand out soldiers in our defence...

As stated; our front 11 is decent, we are just short of a striker to fit the system. Ideally we need good standard back up players but that will come if we don’t get relegated, for the project to succeed we mustn’t get relegated.

Owen, Tate and Adarabioyo have been signed on long term contracts - good work by TK in the close season. I think Aina will be happy to sign for us as long as we stay up, Andersen could be more problematic. Yup keep persevering with our Mitroman give him some game time now. You don’t suddenly stop being a natural goal scorer for long... all those goals he scored to get us back in Prem shouldn’t be forgotten and regularly scores for Serbia against some of best players/teams in world and so don’t buy into comments he’s not good enough for Prem! In my opinion he should be intergrated back into team now and confidence and goals WILL come. Next four games so important for us and will define our season and placing... like to keep believing that with recent decent form if we keep playing our game the points will come ...COYW!

Hopefully Mitro will start in the cup game against Burnley. If so it will be possibly his last chance to show that he can remain a major part of the squad. A goal or two will help.

I think we need to live and die with Mitro. He creates openings by occupying two defenders. Best finisher we have by a mile. Willing passer to set up others. Good defender against set pieces. If he can get fit, he’s far better than Cav or RLC. If I’m Parker I tell him his match lasts 60 minutes, so chase everything and press hard. Then bring in RLC or Cav.
Replies
Bring Jean-Pierre Tiehi and Jay Stansfield into the 1st team squad. Both natural forwards, with forwards' instincts. Anything better than Cavaleiro.

Funnily I was just thinking similar about Mitro. Everyone seems to be screaming for a striker, when we have a good one already to hand, but don't use him. Not wholly sure why! If it was tiredness, he is well rested now. Any small injury surely has healed. He desperately needs minutes to re gain his confidence. With Lookman and an improving RLC(imo!), we are crying out for a target man. Iv'e seen plenty of decent crossing into the box. With Lookman generally being covered by defence now, playing Mitro would at least be an added problem for any defence. So should free up space elsewhere. Is Cav a better front man than Mitro? Sure he has a bit more mobility, but he doesn't score the goals we desperately need to win matches. I think Mitro can.

Britain has lost standing in the world by the government looking to break international agreements and enable Trump. Paddy, you choose your timeline and we’ll see where the U.K. is (or what will be left of it) and where Europe is: 3; 6; 9 years ? Less/more - you choose. You say Europe is finished but like so many, you don’t propose an alternative. Brexit represents the first trade agreement in history to put up trade barriers! It will also lead to the break-up of the U.K.! And for what? Some phoney populist rhetoric about ‘taking back control!’ From where, from what? We already had control and could veto decisions in Brussels or opt out as we did regularly as an EU member. Let me ask you this. If you were my biggest business client and I told you that, from now on, while you could continue to trade with me, you will no longer have any say on the terms and conditions of such trade - what would you think? Well that is precisely the deal this Government has agreed with the EU. We can trade freely (but, of course with hugely increased bureaucracy - rules of origin; customs formalities; the Kent passport and significantly increased costs to British manufacturers and increased costs of goods and services to U.K. consumers etc.) but we will no longer have any say on rule setting in our largest market. Madness! And just to put things into perspective, the estimated annual costs of these brilliant post-Brexit trade arrangements for business are estimated at about €12 billion€ - the cost of the UK’s annual contribution to the EU budget! Brilliant! England will simply become a tax free haven for the rich (the Tory agenda) and the rest will get poorer. The whole thing beggars belief - a huge and irredeemable act of national self-harm ! By the way, the Pfizer vaccine is manufactured in Belgium!

The economy is centred on tourism and banking and both of them are taking a hiding at present. What does it have to offer the world? It was Great once, but Empires come and go. Ireland, united or not would be part of the EU who in the next decade will invade the Middle East, Germany already has six bases surrounding that area, that is why they want a united EU army. When the EU invade the Middle East, Russia and China will be moved to intervene and will very likely turn to atomic strikes. For us in England, no matter what Scotland decide to do, we are better off to stay out of it, My worry is that while this is going on some might come our way, ‘just in case’. Even so, while the damage would be awful Europe will cease to be. I just hope our new stand will be left alone.

It’s quite funny how some posters are up beat and others are certain we will get relegated. They are all entitled to have an opinion and some of them will prove right. As fans I think quite a lot of us were slightly concerned after the euphoria of Wembley that we need players to have a chance in the premier league. I was not convinced about our defence and we sorted that out well. Now it’s a striker we need. This is more difficult than defensive purchases in my opinion. We could do without some injured, inexperienced, talentless end of window panic buy. How many players has our “scouting team” identified to date? Have we got any youngsters coming through? We are really poor in the recruitment department and it has been the same since Khan took over. Would not knock the man but surely he knows that our scouting and recruitment teams are completely out of their depth. I feel that we will stay up this season if TK gets a decent forward in, if not I still think we could survive albeit with difficulty. At the moment I would start Kebano up top with Mitro. Cav has had more chances than anyone to prove himself and again in my opinion he has failed. We are short of strikers and fans are saying we need to pull our socks up, all I can say to that is, if we have no socks on we can’t pull them up. Get us a striker TK as a matter of urgency.
Replies
Gaz, you say Kebano and Mitro up front, are you serious? Just shows a total lack of understanding football tactical play and the way Parker has now set out the team to compete in the PL. Your suggestion might work in the Championship but it’s not for now for so many reasons. So many supporters continually demonstrate by their posts that they don’t really understand football.
posted by Man with a whistle (Guest) - Saturday 23rd January 2021, 9:33 AM

It’s just an opinion MWAW. To say I have no understanding is not very accurate as you do not know me. You seem to be very quick to criticise posters on here but never offer a solution yourself . Am I rightt in saying that you think Cav is the answer? If so it is your opinion and I would not agree with you. I certainly would not say that you don’t understand the game. You seem to think that you are the font of knowledge since you started posting on this site so what is your solution if we do not get a striker? I will not be posting anymore on this site as after nearly 60 years of supporting this club I have never seen so called fans like it. So give us your solution and if you are proved right you can blow your own trumpet, or in your case whistle.

Horses for courses. Theres no set way to play a football match you play your best formation and tactics to suit quite plainly our tactics and personal dont suit Need a recognised. Striker. That can hold a ball up front and score goals. Maybe you give mitro a game if fit and available other options clearly not working
posted by Len (Guest) - Saturday 23rd January 2021, 12:50 PM

Gaz, the solution, Parker has got things coached extremely well at the moment, three central defenders, wing backs, two pivoting midfielders, and three alternating front runners. The style of play is working very well and he would be stupid to change it. Do I think Cavaleiro is good enough, probably not but he is working with what he has got and Cav is the best at playing that role along with Lookman and RLC; D-R has also been used as a roaming front runner. What Parker wants is a striker who predominantly stays central but is mobile enough to move in from either flank. Mitro cannot do this. It is up to TK to scout the player Parker needs for this style of play. If we don't get someone we will continue as we are, but Cav, Kamara, Kebano are not really PL level and Parker will know this, we all know this.

Really do hope we sign a striker who can deliver in the Prem or who can create an effective partnership with Mitro. However, I think a lot of pruning is needed in the squad. I'd be happy to see half-a-dozen leave (hopefully to clubs where they will be at the right level and get game time) and just sign 2 or 3 quality replacements. Without wishing to be nasty, of those still getting game time Cavaleiro, Kamara and Hector have really go to go. Seri, Le Marchand and, say, Johansen would take that to 6...though I can't see much of an FFC future for McDonald, Cairney or Ream either though looking across the squad I'd reckon they are worth keeping in the meantime for cover/stability.

Cavaleiro will stay because we paid too much for him, 10 million. Kamara in my opinion will still be here after the clearout because Parker uses him every week and it shows he likes him. I think Hector might survive the cull because of lack of cover? Seri, Le Marchand and Johansen will probably go. Shame about Johansen, he is not a speed merchant, but he still can bring something to the table, good player...

We also gave 10m for Knockers, another W O S who is getting so much stick from the forest fans, and will be returning at the end of the season.

No striker rumours imminent so not sure what will happen, and if anything does happen it will be a risky loan deal only. This should have been sorted before the season. Our squad depth for PL is no where close to being good enough. However, if we get relegated it will be oven ready to get us promoted. We need to stay in the PL and build on the front 11 we have.

I was at the bank earlier and there was a Japanese lady in front of me who was exchanging yen for sterling.

She was getting quite irate and she asked the bank Clerk, "Why it change? Yesterday, I get two hunat pands for yen. Today I only get hunateighty? Why it change?

The clerk shrugged is shoulders and said "Fluctuations."

The Japenese lady says, Fluc you English people too!"

in many areas, Anguisssa is better Wijnadum. Zambo is stronger, he can tackle and with his strength able to dribble through the centre of the field. But Zambo doesn't match Wijnaldum on his final pass and an eye for goal. Until Zambo improves in these areas, he'd struggled to attract the BIG clubs. Anguissa is better than Sissoko. Sissoko is just strong. He offers few options but strength. In 3 years time, out of all the players in the current Fulham team, Anguissa will be the most successful. Lookman is close but he's got ridiculous competitions like Son, Mane, Sterling, etc.

If Mitro was playing for another club in lower league of the premier and like he’s today, not in top form, we would probably consider buying him, and if we did, we would be excited and happy! But we’ve got him and we don’t know how to use or get him to perform. Why!!
Replies
For a start you would look at his stats for club and country and work out why he’s dried up and play to his strengths and if my team were incapable of scoring providing price was right get him in ASAP

Look at Mitro’s stats for the PL, that’s why Newcastle let him go. Last time in the PL I remember watching his gameplay closely and invariably every centre back blotted him completely out the game.

Mitro needs a mentor and im sorry to say parker is not the one. He needs to phone a friend and we all know who that is.

Mitro is just outclassed in the PL and cannot deal with that fact

Give Mitro the right service and he will score goals !

Tete is the best crosser of the ball we have had for some time. He gets frustrated because our current strikers can't use them. With Mitro in the team, he has more chance of scoring from Tete's crosses. We have rarely seen them play together.

I really think we should put a strong team out against Burnley in the cup with no replays it is not that many extra games to play I am sure the players are happier playing competitive matches rather than training and self isolating

I think we should play the first team players who do not normally start to give them an outing. If we get to the later stages of the cup we need to play a stronger team, assuming we are out of the bottom three by then.

With our luck of injuries would not play our two central defenders. For a start. They will be out to nobble them !!!! No lookman presume Burnley likewise will rest some if by chance we get through these two rounds our future will be more clear right now think league more important than cup

Burnley are on cloud nine after their win at liverpool, and will think they can walk all over us. The only difference between us came via a lucky penalty.
