Mladen Petric became Fulham's first major signing ahead of the 2012/13 season when he joined on a free transfer from Hamburger SV. He scored 61 goals and made 23 assists in 136 appearances for the German club.

The Croatian striker will be a familiar face for Fulham fans, having hit a wonder strike for his former team at Craven Cottage three seasons ago. Petric will also be well known to Fulham Manager Martin Jol; he worked under the Dutchman at Hamburger during the 2008/09 season, scoring 20 goals in 42 matches.

The striker actually started his career in Switzerland having moved there with his family as a young boy. He went on to play for FC Baden, Grasshopper Zürich and FC Basel, before moving to Germany with Borussia Dortmund.

Petric, who has won more than 40 caps for Croatia, famously scored his country's third in the 3-2 defeat of England at Wembley.

Not only did his strike condemn England to their first competitive defeat at the new Wembley, but it also denied them qualification for Euro 2008.

After being released by Hamburg at the end of the 2011-12 campaign, Petric signed a one-year deal with Fulham, linking up with former Hamburg boss, Martin Jol.

The Croatian striker made his debut at home to Norwich City on the opening day of the Premier League campaign. Petric scored a double and provided an assist for Alexander Kacaniklic as Fulham beat Norwich by a score of 5-0.

Petric was one of twelve players released by Fulham at the end of the 2012-13 Premier League season.
