Player description
On 31st August 2012, Fulham announced the signing of Dimitar Berbatov from Manchester United on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
The 31-year-old Bulgarian forward started out at Bulgarian side CSKA Sofia, joining the Armymen aged 17. In doing so, he followed in the footsteps of his father, Ivan, who also played for the club.
His talent quickly caught the attention of clubs on the continent, with Bayer Leverkusen making their move in January 2001. He switched to Tottenham Hotspur for a reported £10.9m five years later.
He joined Manchester United on transfer deadline day in August 2008, having long been courted by Sir Alex Ferguson.
In January 2014 Berbatov was allowed to go on loan to Monaco until the end of the season and therefore the end of his contract at Fulham.
