Fulham are set to secure the signature of Montpellier striker Steve Mounie for around £6 million, as Slavisa Jokanovic continues to bolster his ranks at Fulham, according to reports in The Sun.

The talented 21-year-0ld is capped at international level for Benin and spent last season on loan at Ligue 2 Nimes, top scoring with 11 goals helping them to a mid-table finish.

Mounie is in London for talks and a medical is close to being completed, bringing the move closer.

The Benin international scored 11 times on loan to Ligue 2 side Nimes last season and at 6ft 3, would replace the physical presence lost when Moussa Dembele departed to Celtic earlier this summer.

Dembele’s 17 goals last season earned him a nomination for Young Player of the Year and kept them up as Dembele formed a lethal 40 goal partnership with Ross McCormack.

The expectation on Mounie is to replicate Dembele which will be very difficult and if McCormack does leave, then his role will be even harder.

He would join a long line of seven Fulham transfers this summer including Bastia winger Floyd Ayite, Hull midfielder Sone Aluko and Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas on loan.
